Story
Donations Needed for this sweet cocker boy. He came to us with whip worms and fleas and tested as high heartworm positive. This will possibly take three treatments. Update - He just had his 2nd HW treatment and so far, so good. Please donate to CCR by PayPal, Venmo or you can send a check to CCR, P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Thank you for your kindness, no amount is too small. Meet Henry, a very neglected, scared, skinny 4-year-old Cocker boy. He is a sweet boy who craves attention. He always lived outside and has never known love or any kind of attention. His owners neglected him, abused him and made him suffer from lack of food, basic grooming, vet care and no HW or flea prevention. He is high heartworm positive because they just didn't care. The staff at this particular NC shelter were tipped of last October to investigate this as a cruelty case. The owners were cautioned to get this dog groomed as he was very overgrown and obviously neglected. The shelter folks went back to this home again this year to check on him. They found him badly matted with ears stuck to his head. After questioning them again about neglect of care, the people finally agreed to surrender him over to the shelter. He had to be sedated to be groomed, and he got neutered. The shelter asked for rescue help due to high heartworm positive. We said yes, and they transported him to us. Here, he will have heartworm treatment, be updated on all vet needs and eventually be healthy enough to find a forever home. He definitely deserves a 2nd chance to experience happiness, kindness and real love. This boy is so nice, very loving and craves attention. He just had his 2nd heartworm treatment and will be re-tested. If no other treatment is needed, he will then have a dental. He seems to prefer woman over men. He will be here in rescue for several months. He will not be up for adoption until all of his vetting needs are taken care of and he is a healthy boy. Please donate to help with his care. Any amount is greatly appreciated and thank you for your kindness to help this boy on his way to a better life.

No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this Cocker Spaniel boy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Haggard, a 2-year-old black n white parti Cocker Boy. He came to us from a hoarding cruelty case in TN with 8 dogs when the shelter asked for our help. No other information was available. Two of our volunteers did transport and brought him to CCR. He is heartworm negative and no tick disease. He is a friendly guy, gaining weight and did okay at the vet. He is doing well with crate training. He has been groomed, has been neutered, has had a minor dental and treatment for his ears. At 2nd appointment, ears were better but needed 2nd treatment. A patient owner will need to work with him on house training and leash training. He barks at other dogs when taken for a walk so no pet stores. He can be with dogs his size but is not good at all with big dogs. Teen children only, no young kids and no history with cats. A fenced yard is a must. This boy has had little to no love or attention. He can only handle both for a few minutes and then he is done. He is a sweet dog and has a few issues. If you can work with him to overcome the things that need tweaking, he can learn to be a wonderful house companion. Please give him this 2nd chance to know the real meaning of love, kindness and proper care. Adoption fee $500

Story
Available in two weeks as long as recovery goes well after cherry eye repair surgery that has just been done. He is now on recovery time. If you are interested in adopting this sweet Cocker Spaniel boy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. All vet care must be completed. Meet Buddy, a 1 year and 3-month-old neutered Cocker Spaniel boy. He was turned into a NC shelter with the owners saying he had started nibbling at their feet, and they didn't want their grandchildren to get hurt. They had him in their home for two months after getting him from someone else. This sweet boy needs an adult only home. No kids or grandkids due to his unstable past. He has been in 4 different homes. When our volunteer picked him up, she quickly learned that he is a sweet, sweet guy, tough on a leash and a very sad Cocker boy. When he meets or sees other dogs, he barks at them. At rescue vet appointment, we were told he has a mild heart murmur that may be parasite related plus yeasty ears. Both of these issues are being treated. He also has bilateral cherry eyes. HW & fecal status is negative. Surgery repair for his cherry eye issues was scheduled and has been done. He is on recovery time. All vet care will be addressed before he can be adopted out. He was dirty with several mats and has been groomed. A new owner will need a lot of patience. A fenced yard is a must. He will need to trust you to make progress as he acts like he doesn't know kindness, love, attention or how to handle noises and being around other dogs. It is possible that his sadness is from being left alone too much, mistreated or simply never receiving much attention. He might be okay with a calm, easy going dog social pal who can be his mentor or best as your only dog. With a patient owner, we feel that he can blossom and thrive. Someone who can offer him stability, kindness, love and attention but at a slow pace, so he doesn't get too overwhelmed. An owner who won't give up on him is a must. He deserves to know the real meaning of kindness and being loved as a companion in your home. His adoption fee will be $500.

Story
Adoption Pending - This is a Courtesy Posting Only. These folks need to find this dog a loving home ASAP. We are not responsible for the health or vetting needs of this dog. We have agreed to help screen potential homes so that his owners can find him a good home while he is in their care. If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, please download and save our application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it with the owners and return calls. If you are approved, we will discuss how you can learn more about him. Meet Woody, a very handsome 6-year-old, neutered, chocolate Cocker Spaniel boy. He belongs to an elderly lady who loves him very much and needs to find him a home ASAP because she fell and injured her back. Now she can't take care of herself or Woody and is living with family. They are having a baby soon and cannot keep this dog. Overall, he is a healthy, friendly guy but he does have typical ear infections that require trips to the vet. He gets along with other dogs, and he can be in a home with older children. A fenced yard is suggested, and he is house trained. This dog is in Fayetteville, NC. Adoption fee to be discussed.

No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this very sweet guy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your fill out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. All vetting must be done before he finds a new home. Meet Jax renamed to Jackson, a 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel. He was surrendered to a NC Shelter with the owners saying he snapped at their kids when they wouldn't share their food with him. The shelter was overcrowded so he came to us. He has just been groomed. This very handsome, friendly, overgrown boy is just a BIG boned Cocker Spaniel. He weighs 43 pounds. He is heartworm negative and neutered. He is scheduled for a dental. He seems drawn to both men and women. He is a happy affectionate guy most of the time, but he does have some anxiety issues possibly because his owner moved a lot while he was younger, and he was never properly socialized. He does not do well with other dogs at all. He barks at dogs and motorcycles or any kind of loud noises when he is with you in your car. To keep him safe when riding in your vehicle, we suggest that he is securely tied in and tethered to the back seat. He is strong on a leash and would not be a good companion for an elderly owner. He needs a kind, caring owner who will spend quality time working with him. An adult only home is best, we have learned this by having him here at the rescue. He needs to be your only dog. A fenced yard is a must, and you will need to find a kind, very patient groomer as he does not do well with being groomed. Adoption fee $400 Available after all vetting needs are done.
