Hey, it's me, Snooper! Are you my human? I REALLY love riding in the car and my people. I promise to patrol your yard and keep all the critters at bay. I can be your partner for playing fetch and for a good walk. When it's time for cuddles, I'll paw your hand to make sure I get a pet or two in while I snooze next to you on the couch. These are some of my best photos, before I had to have one of my eyes removed, now I'm a winker! I've been in foster care for over 2 years and would love to find my furever to spend my remaining years with.Interested in adoption? At 10, Leif has gotten over that whippersnapper stage and is well-settled into being happy to just hang out--he's not overly affectionate, but he wants to know where you are so he can find a dog bed close by. Tofu is a major cutie—a sweet, cuddly 1.5 year-old Cockapoo with a heart full of love and a tongue that’s almost always sticking out (seriously… it’s part of his signature look!). This affectionate little guy lives for kisses, snuggles, and being close to his people. If you’re looking for a best friend who wants to be wherever you are, Tofu is your guy.Tofu has a playful puppy spirit and still gets the zoomies like a champ! While he does have some hip and back leg issues that we’re still learning more about, it doesn’t stop him from running, playing, and enjoying life. It’s believed these traits may be inherited. Regardless, Tofu doesn’t let it slow him down and continues to be an active, happy pup.Because he’s still a puppy, Tofu can get a little mouthy when he’s extra excited, but he’s made great progress learning to redirect that energy to his beloved chew toys (which he absolutely loves). For this reason he may need to be in a home with full grown children. He’s also very fond of his toy box… though he’s still trying to understand why throw pillows aren’t considered toys. 😉Tofu is crate trained and does well settling in his kennel. He has come a long way with his potty training and continues to improve, especially with a consistent routine—he may just need a little extra patience and guidance to get fully there.He loves being outside, especially lounging in the grass and soaking up the fresh air. At the end of the day, Tofu’s favorite place is anywhere he can curl up with his human. He truly just wants to be loved and part of a family.With his sweet personality, adorable bleep tongue, and endless affection, Tofu is ready to steal hearts and become someone’s perfect companion.Interested in Adoption? Story
Calypso is a 5-year-old beauty who has some special needs--both physical and behavioral. We'll explain. The physical part is somewhat simple--she has epilepsy. She is now on daily medication, which isn't super expensive, and it's pretty much under control. The behavioral aspect, well... Here's what we know: Calypso requires a very specific home. This pretty girl is extremely skittish and shy. Children are a no-no for her, even savvy kids. Let's face it, kids can be fast and loud and up in your grill, and it just freaks her out. She doesn't care for a noisy home either. She's a girl who needs time to warm up, and even then, she will let you know what she deems an appropriate touch and what she considers unacceptable. Now that she has been with us for a while, she has finally learned to trust her foster family. Heck, she's even opened up and comfortable enough to play fetch. But we know that Calypso will never be a social butterfly. She is not one of those dogs that are suitable for a busy home or novice owners. She's not a dog you could take out in public to a bar or restaurant or social gatherings. She says, "NO THANKS to all of that. She's a lovely companion for someone who understands that some dogs love in different ways. She will need a compassionate veterinarian and grooming staff who understand the importance of trust and patience. And a special person who can provide a quiet home and who will understand when she needs a safe space to retreat to when there may be visitors. Don't get us wrong, she likes her person and will happily sit beside you, she just has a bit of Greta Garbo in her: "She wants to be alone." We know that all of this may sound like a lot, but if we've learned anything in our 24 years of doing this, there's someone out there for whom she would be a perfect fit. Story
Adorable & adoptable: Poky. It's always amazing to us how resilent some of these dogs are that have come from a RUFF life. Give them some time with love and care and they just blossom. Poky is a young guy (around 2) but unfortunately, he wasn't given preventions and he tested positive for heartworms (boooo!). But he will be treated at CSRA/SA expense at one of our vets. While we don't know very much about his past, we do know that he's affectionate, silly and eager to bond with his person. He would like to be someone's only baby (no other dogs or small kids please). He promises he can supply you with all the kisses you need. He is crate trained, and house trained. With moderate to high energy, he’ll do best with someone who can give him structure, clear boundaries, and positive reinforcement to help him keep on growing into his best self.Interested in adoption?
