Story
🐾 Meet Chuck 🐾 Personality Snapshot: Playful • Curious • Energetic • Smart • Thoughtful Chuck is an intelligent, high-energy working-breed boy who’s ready for adventure with the right partner. He’s playful and curious, and once he feels comfortable, his sweet, gentle nature really shines. Chuck can be a bit cautious when meeting new people—especially men—but with kindness and a little time, he warms up quickly and happily accepts pets. He tends to politely move around people while keeping a curious eye on what they’re doing. What to know about Chuck: 🧠 Very smart and eager to learn; thrives with training and a “job” 🐕 Enjoys playing with mild, playful dogs and gets excited to meet new canine friends 🦮 Walks beautifully on leash—calm, curious, and doesn’t pull (even around squirrels and birds!) 🍽️ Respectful around food; doesn’t beg or jump 🎯 Knows sit, lay down, and place, and even responds to a whistle 🏃 Loves activity and runs well beside his humans 💛 Gentle, affectionate, and happiest being with his people Chuck does best when his physical and mental needs are met. Without enough stimulation, he can become restless, but with exercise, enrichment, and structure, he settles into being an excellent companion. Important considerations: 🏡 Needs a very secure home setup—Chuck will try to escape to be with people when left alone 🚧 Can jump high and will clear fences if he learns he can; a tall, secure fence or in-ground system is essential 🐱 Not tested with cats and may have a higher prey drive 🐶 Dog-savvy home recommended with well-matched canine companions Ideal Home: An experienced, active adopter who enjoys training and adventures. Chuck would thrive as an adventure buddy, agility or scent-work partner, sporting companion, or even a well-managed ranch dog. He’s truly a gem for someone ready to invest in his brilliance and big heart. Come meet me at High Country Humane, located at 11665 N. Highway 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. Our shelter is open Thursday–Tuesday, 11 am–5 pm, and closed on Wednesdays. Come meet Chuck at High Country Humane, open daily 11am–5pm, closed Wednesdays. Chuck is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready for his forever family.
