Story
Personality Snapshot: Playful, curious, energetic, smart, cautious Meet Chuck, an awesome high energy working breed boy who is eager for adventure and fun. He is smart, playful, and full of curiosity, and once he warms up he shows a super sweet temperament. Chuck can be a bit nervous meeting new people, but he warms up fast and likes pets once he feels comfortable. He tends to move out of people’s way while still staying curious about what they are doing. Chuck enjoys playing with mild, playful dogs and gets very excited to meet new canine friends. He can be a bit much for some dogs, but he genuinely wants to play and could live with other dogs who are a good match. He has not been tested with cats, and he may have a higher prey drive, so caution is advised. Chuck will need a secure home setup. When left alone he tries to escape to be with people, even if other dogs are present. In a kennel he spins, digs or bites at exits, and vocalizes loudly. He can jump very high and will clear any fence once he knows he can. A tall, secure fence or in-ground electric fence will be important for his safety. On leash, he pulls hard and shows mixed excitement and anxiety around other dogs. With socialization and practice he has great potential. He is very smart and will need training and a job to thrive. He could be an excellent adventure dog, scent dog, agility dog, or sporting companion. When he has excess energy he paces and whines, but once his needs are met he settles into being a very good boy. Ideal Home: A dedicated adopter who understands high drive dogs and enjoys training. Someone ready to build his confidence, give him structure, keep him safely contained, and provide plenty of physical and mental activities. He could even make a great ranch partner if safely managed. Come meet Chuck at High Country Humane, located at 11665 N. Highway 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. We’re open daily 11am–5pm, closed Wednesdays. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Story
Lizards beware, it’s Buckley the great hunter here….sshhh, don’t tell anyone, but I do more looking, searching and very little lizard catching because I am mostly just fascinated watching lizards run!I recently arrived at the Sedona Humane Society, and I am friendly, funny and a smart boy. I am a 2-year-old male cattle dog, terrier and Staffordshire mix with a kind and joyful spirit. I know sit, am potty trained. I am learning to respond to directions when my name is called and return to my humans to collect a yummy treat. I am a quick learner and focused on pleasing people. I am playful and like to play fetch with a 90% ball return rate. I will run to you when you call my name, sit patiently for treats and really enjoy full length body rubs after a fun play session. I am always excited to show off my happy tail and smile. I would thrive in a home with people who will exercise with me. I would enjoy living with older kids with whom I can play. I form strong bonds with the people around me and will be a devoted faithful doggie companion. We could enjoy nice long walks in the red dirt for sure. With my friendly nature and loyal spirit, I`ll be your best buddy for years to come, especially if you have lizards where you live!I am neutered, microchipped, potty trained and up-to date on my vaccines. If I sound like a good fit for you and your active family...I would love to meet your family when you come to visit me. Give me a look over please and contact the caring folks at the Humane Society of Sedona at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays and come say “fetch anyone.”
