Story
Chuck is an intelligent, high-energy working-breed boy who’s ready for adventure with the right partner. He’s playful and curious, and once he feels comfortable, his sweet, gentle nature really shines. What to know about Chuck: 🧠 Very smart and eager to learn; thrives with training and a “job” 🐕 Enjoys playing with mild, playful dogs and gets excited to meet new canine friends 🦮 Walks beautifully on leash—calm, curious, and polite 🍽️ Respectful around food; doesn’t beg or jump 🎯 Knows 'sit', 'lay down', and 'place', and even responds to a whistle 🏃 Loves activity and runs well beside his humans Chuck does best when his physical and mental needs are met. Without enough stimulation, he can become restless, but with exercise, enrichment, and structure, he settles into being an excellent companion. Come meet me at High Country Humane, located at 11665 N. Highway 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004. Our shelter is open Thursday–Tuesday, 11 am–5 pm, and closed on Wednesdays. Ideal Home: An experienced, active adopter who enjoys training and adventures. Chuck would thrive as an adventure buddy, agility or scent-work partner, sporting companion, or even a well-managed ranch dog. He’s truly a gem for someone ready to invest in his brilliance and big heart. Important considerations: 🏡 Needs a very secure home setup—Chuck will try to escape to be with people when left alone 🚧 Can jump high and will clear fences if he learns he can; a tall, secure fence or in-ground system is essential 🐱 Not tested with cats and may have a higher prey drive 🐶 Dog-savvy home recommended with well-matched canine companions

Story
I am Buckley, a handsome, friendly, funny and passionate, two-year-old cattle dog mix and I have been at the shelter since April 2025. I am excited to tell you all about my day hiking with a volunteer friend of mine! I had such a wonderful time when we got to the trail head, and I impressed everyone with my calm manners and politely sat to the side and waited for a treat while letting other dogs` pass. I saw hikers with their dogs and had no reaction to anyone as it was so glorious to be free in the sunshine and fresh Sedona air among the cactus plants. My wonderful day out ended with belly rubs, loves and relaxation. Time away from the shelter helped to build my confidence and let my intelligence, true spirit, and patience shine brightly. I am big on personality, and my calming brown eyes look right through people when I am happy as I was on my hike!I respond to directions, love being around people and I am a quick learner. I would thrive in a home where I get to exercise and have your attention and encouragement along with lots of belly rubs. We could enjoy nice walks for sure and with my friendly nature and loyal spirit, I will quickly be your super best buddy in no time at all. With a little patience and consistency, I am going to make an incredible companion. I am ready for my next hiking adventure – could it be on a walk with you? I am potty trained, neutered, microchipped and up-to date on my vaccines.Contact the fun people at the Humane Society of Sedona at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays and spend time with me sharing some joy. Bring the kids too!
