Story
Lizards beware, it’s Buckley the great hunter here….sshhh, don’t tell anyone, but I do more looking, searching and very little lizard catching because I am mostly just fascinated watching lizards run!I recently arrived at the Sedona Humane Society, and I am friendly, funny and a smart boy. I am a 2-year-old male cattle dog, terrier and Staffordshire mix with a kind and joyful spirit. I know sit, am potty trained. I am learning to respond to directions when my name is called and return to my humans to collect a yummy treat. I am a quick learner and focused on pleasing people. I am playful and like to play fetch with a 90% ball return rate. I will run to you when you call my name, sit patiently for treats and really enjoy full length body rubs after a fun play session. I am always excited to show off my happy tail and smile. I would thrive in a home with people who will exercise with me. I would enjoy living with older kids with whom I can play. I form strong bonds with the people around me and will be a devoted faithful doggie companion. We could enjoy nice long walks in the red dirt for sure. With my friendly nature and loyal spirit, I`ll be your best buddy for years to come, especially if you have lizards where you live!I am neutered, microchipped, potty trained and up-to date on my vaccines. If I sound like a good fit for you and your active family...I would love to meet your family when you come to visit me. Give me a look over please and contact the caring folks at the Humane Society of Sedona at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays and come say “fetch anyone.”

Story
Ollie is adorable, quirky, and a little shy at firstOllie – Adoption Bio Ollie is a gentle soul with a heart of gold, waiting for the right person to help her shine. At first, Ollie may be a little shy, preferring to take things slow while she gets to know you. Once trust is built, you will discover a loyal companion who will stand by your side through life’s quiet moments and joyful days. Ollie is searching for a patient, understanding adopter who can offer her the stability and kindness she deserves. Ollie thrives in a calm, steady environment, where routines bring her comfort, and gentle handling shows her the world is a safe place. She shines brightest when given structure, patience, and enrichment. She’s the kind of dog who will make your home feel fuller, your days brighter, and your heart lighter. Whether you’re a senior looking for a loyal sidekick, a quiet household wanting a devoted friend, or a multi-dog family ready to welcome another gentle soul, Ollie is ready to bring joy, laughter, and unconditional love to your life. Back Story Likely born in the desert with minimal socialization until captured by Animal Control, she once lived with a loving family, displaying food-driven behavior and allowing her human dad to pet her. Due to a family tragedy, Ollie (Olive) found herself in need of treatment or sanctuary. With the right family and commitment, we believe Ollie can thrive with humans once again. Behavior Profile When Ollie isn’t enjoying peaceful cuddles, she’s ready for playing, a romp in the yard, or relaxing as a professional couch companion. She gets along well with other dogs and can live harmoniously with cats, making her a great fit for the right multi-pet home. She already has wonderful house manners, is crate trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. Positive Attributes:      ·  Loves quiet moments and gentle affection.      ·  Always up for a romp in the yard.      ·  Professional snuggler and couch companion.      ·  Can live harmoniously with cats.      ·  Loves being part of a family.      ·  Already has great house manners.      ·  A survivor with a heart full of hope.      ·  Guaranteed to keep you smiling. Story
Django is affectionate, loyal, and mellowDjango is affectionate and playful, best for experienced adopters in quiet environments. He enjoys fetch, training, and thrives on structure. Django is a sensitive and loyal soul who just needs a patient hand and a loving heart to bring out his best. Shy at first, Django truly blossoms into a devoted companion once trust is built. He enjoys peaceful walks in low-traffic areas, loves having his own space for meals and toys, and prefers calm, gentle handling. This special boy would thrive in a home without other pets, where he can soak up all the love and attention as your one-and-only four-legged friend. Back Story Django grew up in a wonderful home. His owner got married, and the new man of the house took Django’s place. He decided Django had to go. Django was dumped into a terrible situation, which left him confused and traumatized. Since being here, he has healed and loves all humans and dogs on the ranch. Behavior Profile Once Django chooses you, you’ve got a best friend for life. He adores quiet moments, gentle affection, and is always ready for a game of fetch or a romp in the yard. A professional snuggler with excellent house manners, Django is also a quick learner who thrives on praise and loves to work alongside you. His future adopter will not only gain a loyal companion but a partner in joy, play, and life’s quieter moments. Django’s perfect match would be an experienced, dog-savvy adopter or a calm, adults-only household. A secure yard, patience, and a commitment to positive reinforcement training will set him up for success. If you’re looking for a devoted sidekick who will reward your patience with unwavering loyalty, Django may just be your perfect match. Positive Attributes:      ·  Loves quiet moments and gentle affection.      ·  Always up for a game of fetch or a romp in the yard.      ·  Professional snuggler and couch companion.      ·  Quick learner who enjoys training games.      ·  Loves to work with you and thrives on praise.      ·  Already has great house manners. Behavior Challenges      ·  Shy at first, but blooms into a loyal companion once trust is built.      ·  Best walked in low-traffic areas where they can relax and enjoy.      ·  May need solid fencing or distance from high-traffic areas.      ·  Would love to be your one-and-only four-legged friend.      ·  Enjoys meals and toys in their own space.      ·  Prefers slow, gentle handling and builds trust over time.      ·  Best in a home without small animals. Story
Jackson is affectionate, sweet, and shy at firstJackson Jackson is a gentle dog carrying a great deal of fear and anxiety. He is not aggressive one bit-just overwhelmed by unfamiliar people, doorways, and new environments. Jackson will not become your dog overnight. He needs a calm, low-energy home and patient humans who understand that trust is built slowly and cannot be rushed. At Pets Return Home, our dogs live in a free-ranging pack structure. This setting benefits many dogs—but not Jackson. His fear makes him an easy target for more confident dogs, who often bully or push him, keeping him in a constant state of unease. His closest comfort comes from Star, another very sensitive dog who understands him. The two share a quiet friendship and often retreat together away from the pack’s social pressure. Jackson cannot thrive here with this level of stimulation. A quieter, more predictable home will give him the space he needs to finally feel safe and begin to grow. When Jackson trusts someone, his true heart shines through. He becomes affectionate, playful, and deeply loyal. He enjoys calm walks, chewing on his favorite bones, and peaceful one-on-one time with his person. His love is unwavering once he bonds. If you can offer Jackson patience, understanding, and a peaceful home, you will genuinely be saving his life. And we will support you throughout his transition and for as long as you and Jackson need us. He deserves a home where he can breathe, settle, and grow into the dog he was always meant to be. Adopting Jackson means committing to a process—but your patience will directly transform his future. Once he trusts you, his devotion is deep, gentle, and lifelong. Back Story Jackson came to us as a puppy with his mom and seven siblings after they were found in a desert den in December. Snow covered the ground when his mother, Isabelle, sought out help from nearby humans who brought the entire family to Pets Return Home. As the runt, Jackson was frequently bullied by his littermates and even by his mother. He was weaker and struggled to compete, and those early experiences shaped his fearful nature. He has been with us since 2022, growing slowly but steadily, and finding comfort in gentle dogs like Star who share his quiet temperament. Behavior Profile Jackson loves quiet moments, gentle interactions, and peaceful routines. He has good house manners, is crate-trained, and enjoys calm walks and relaxed one-on-one time. He forms deep bonds with the people he trusts and often gravitates toward other soft, sensitive dogs—like his friend Star—who helps him feel safe. Positive Attributes      ·  Loves quiet moments and gentle affection      ·  Has a sweet, soft friendship with Star      ·  Enjoys calm dog companions      ·  Great house manners      ·  Crate-trained and leash-trained      ·  Deeply loyal once bonded Behavior Challenges      ·  Shy and hesitant at first      ·  Needs a calm, predictable routine      ·  Sensitive to noise and chaotic environments      ·  Needs slow introductions and gentle handling      ·  Feels safest in peaceful surroundings      ·  A true project dog—but incredibly rewarding once trust forms If you cannot adopt right now, will you help by sponsoring monthly? Story
Reggie is lovable, goofy, and loyalReggie – Loyal Soul Seeking a Calm, Loving Home Reggie is a gentle, loving dog just waiting for the right person to notice him. He enjoys having his meals and toys in his own space and prefers slow, gentle handling that lets trust grow naturally. With patience, Reggie becomes a devoted, loyal friend who will stand by your side for life. Once he chooses you, Reggie is both a calm snuggler and a fun playmate. He loves quiet affection, relaxed moments on the couch, romps in the yard, and peaceful walks. A quick learner with wonderful house manners, he is crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and thrives on praise and connection. Reggie gets along well with most dogs and would enjoy a compatible doggy playmate. He would do best in a calm home with dog-savvy, patient adopters who understand slow introductions and trust building. He is likely fine with older kids but may be too clumsy for small children. Back Story Reggie was found roaming in the desert by an animal control officer and taken to a veterinarian for care and adoption—but instead, he spent over a year neglected in a 4×6 outdoor pen. When transferred to Pets Return Home, he arrived 30 pounds underweight with sores on his legs and paws, caked eyes and ears, several dog bites, and no vaccinations or neuter. He was hand-shy and extremely anxious, barking constantly and reacting fearfully to dogs. Over the next year, Reggie received medical care, training, and patient rehabilitation. His transformation has been remarkable—he now greets new people warmly, listens attentively, enjoys snuggles, loves walks, and engages confidently with dogs. He remains one of our most stable and wonderful boys. Reggie has a bit of an adventurous streak and has gone on a few “walkabouts,” always returning on his own. With a secure yard and attentive adopters, he will thrive. Behavior Profile      ·  Very friendly with people and dogs      ·  Likely fine with older children; too clumsy for small kids      ·  Excellent listener      ·  Barks at unfamiliar things, not excessively      ·  Enjoys long periods outside, quiet crate time, and relaxing indoors      ·  Affectionate, stable, and eager to please Positive Attributes      ·  Forms a strong, lasting bond with his person.      ·  Calm and soft in interactions.      ·  Enjoys toys, games, and fun activities.      ·  Enjoys cuddles, pets, and human closeness.      ·  Learns commands and routines quickly.      ·  Wants to make his human happy.      ·  Plays well and lives peacefully with other canines.      ·  Enjoys being around respectful children.      ·  Consistently goes potty outside.      ·  Has overcome hardship and adapted well.      ·  Makes people laugh with his quirks and antics. Behavior Challenges      ·  Protects his food from other dogs.      ·  Dislikes grooming, vet exams, or certain touch. If you cannot adopt right now, will you help by sponsoring monthly? You can help sanctuary, adoptable, in-treatment, and new-intake dogs by giving $10 or more each month.
