Story
Name: King Frederick Nickname: Alakay (real name of Alex the lion from Madagascar) Breed: Collie mix Estimated DOB: 10/14/2022 Weight: 60 lbs. Before OMD: Transferred to OMD Rescue after he was picked up as a stray, heartworm positive (though showed no symptoms). He has since been treated for heartworm and healthy. Energy Level: Medium-high Velcro level: Inside? Right with his people. Outside? Independent and off exploring. Descriptors: Social. Sweet. Intelligent. Playful. Handsome and slightly majestic. Alter Ego: A toddler - Active, thrives on boundaries, gets bored easily, mischievous, opportunistic... If you leave the room, he will investigate (and, most likely, chew) and get into all the things while you're gone...sometimes even when you're not gone. What we love most: His gorgeous smile. How he's always happy and eager to please - he really just seems to enjoy life, no matter what's going on. What makes us smile: How he has to stretch any time he gets up from a down position (whether it's one second or one hour). How he gets super low and wiggly when you call him to come. How you can often find him sleeping on his back with his legs up in the air. What he loves most: His people. Pleasing his people. Playing with other dogs. Water-play. Food. What he doesn't love: When he thinks he's done something wrong. He's eager to please and can be sensitive to corrections. What he knows: Sit. Sit and Come (sometimes). Leash manners. Riding well in the car. Kids: He has not spent time with kids while in rescue, but we believe he would do best with older, sturdy, dog savvy kids due to his herding-dog nature and he does jump from time to time Dogs: Oh yes! He has loved being around other dogs of all shapes and sizes. He's best suited with a tolerant, playful pup as he can occasionally get rowdy and incessant on instigating play. Cats: Likely a no. House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Need to know: Our boy either needs to be on a leash at all times or a 6 foot fence as he can hop anything shorter. He will thrive in a home who wants a dog who they can truly bond with, and understands the breed and their need for daily physical and mental stimulation. Frederick is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org

Amos was a stray that found himself as a stray and later at a high kill shelter. Amos is a very sweet dog who needs an owner to show him love and regain the confidence he has lost from what we believe was abuse and neglect. Amos will make a wonderful pet for the person or family that wants to spend time loving and caring for this sweet boy!

Story
Riley, born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat, collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is located in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Story
Meet Royalty, a sweet ~2 year old spayed female kelpie/terrier mix! She's a great size at about 32 lbs. This special pup has been in her foster home since March 2025 waiting to find her furever home   Royalty is a shy, timid girl at first, who takes some time to warm up to new people (especially men). However, she comes around with a little love and patience. We think she is worth the wait! Royalty can do a 1 week foster to adopt trial with an approved adopter so you can see how she settles in before committing to adoption. She does best being introduced to new people slowly, sometimes outside throwing her treats. Fast movements and loud noises make her nervous and she may bark and/or growl. Because of this, we recommend a home with no young children.  She does ok with older/dog savvy kids and has warmed up to her foster mom's grandson and will happily go for walks and cuddle with him! If you are patient with her and let her come to you on her own terms, she will eventually reward you with lots of cuddles and kisses once she has deemed you safe!  Royalty is an energetic young girl who enjoys going on walks and would love a fenced in yard of her own to run around and get out her zoomies! She also loves bones, lick mats, and puzzle toys. She is a very smart girl and knows many commands, including "sit", "down", "wait", "let's go", "paw", "other paw", and "leave it". She is very food motivated and eager to learn - she would be a great candidate for training games and maybe even agility. She does great with other dogs after a proper intro and is BFFs with her foster fur sibling! She would love a confident, well adjusted doggo friend to show her the ropes and help her learn to build her confidence. She is a herder and will chase cats and small animals, so no feline friends for this girl. Royalty is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. Apply to meet this special girl today! Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2338111##

Story
Meet Dobby, a friendly ~2 year old spayed female Australian Cattle Dog mix! This girl is the perfect size and full grown at about 40 lbs. She has the BEST giant ears, which is how she earned her name!  Dobby is a very sweet, outgoing girl who LOVES other dogs, people, and kids! Due to her exuberant nature, we recommend older kids 8+ as she may unintentionally knock over a small child. She attended doggy daycare while being fostered in TN, and she got along well with all of the dogs there. Since she has been in New England, she was fostered with two 120 lb Great Pyrs who she also got along very well with! Currently, she is being fostered in CT at another doggy daycare and is having a blast! She loves to play with her doggo friends and would be thrilled to have another young, playful pup to share her home with. Dobby can do a 1 week foster to adopt trial with an approved adopter so you can see how she settles in before committing to adoption. Dobby does ok with dog savvy cats (will initially bark at them and will chase if they run, but she responds well to being told NO and she learned to respect the cat in her prior foster home).  She is an energetic girl who loves to play with other dogs, she also loves toys and a good game of tug! She would LOVE a fenced in yard of her own to get out her zoomies. Dobby would make an excellent hiking and/or running buddy, she would love to join you on all of your adventures and then nap on the couch with you afterwards (she loves to snuggle!). She also walks very well on leash and is not a big puller (unless she sees a squirrel or other critter). She is a super smart and trainable pup!  From Dobby's current foster:  "Dobby is definitely a high energy girl which has proved a perfect match for my high energy pups who don’t get enough play. Dobby gets along with everyone, sleeps like a rock through the night and loves a bone to keep her busy when it’s quiet time. Dobby is learning that excitement is always a good thing but jumping on someone is not always cool when you’re not prepared. Dobby is super smart and would love a job so if you have a dog who would love a play companion or if agility is your thing, Dobby is for you!" Dobby is medically up to date, crate trained, and housebroken. Apply to meet this special girl today! She is SO deserving of a furever home of her own! Story
Denver was a rescue from Tennessee and was born in May of 2025. Denver needs a new home as owners are moving out of state for work and can not have pets with their new lease. Denver is great with other dogs and is full of energy! Denver loves to walk and run but does get car sick on long rides. Denver enjoys dry food and wet food. Denver sits and gives paw when commanded to do so. Denver loves to roam and would prefer a new owner with a large backyard. Denver would also be great on a farm as he is a natural herding cattle dog! Denver loves to cuddle and even gives hugs. Denver loves to use his voice to communicate but understands to not use his voice if commanded to do so. Denver is current on all shots and has been neutered. Denver is microchipped.
