Story
JUNIE B. IS IN HER FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN, AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO CT ONCE ADOPTED!    Junie B. is a precious 4 month old puppy (potentially collie + lab) who’s looking for a fun loving family to join. Since coming to her foster home she’s experienced working on a farm, living with 3 other small and large resident dogs, a cat, and horses! She’s extremely smart and knows how to sit and wait until released. She’s a medium energy puppy and will need exercise and playtime to stay fulfilled. She’s crate trained and sleeps in it every night all on her own. Her perfect home would have another dog or kiddos to play with, a bin of toys to squeak, and a lap to sit on. She is fully vetted. Vetting includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and all dog vaccinations. Her adoption fee of $600 includes the transport to CT. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Junie B. up north to her new family. You can apply to adopt her today!     If you have any questions, please email us at: newbeginnings_animalrescue@yahoo.com   You can apply to adopt Junie B. here: www.newbeginningsanimalrescue.net   THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ADOPTING A RESCUED PET! Story
Riley, born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat, collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is located in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Story
Name: King Frederick Nickname: Alakay (real name of Alex the lion from Madagascar) Breed: Collie mix Estimated DOB: 10/14/2022 Weight: 60 lbs. Before OMD: Transferred to OMD Rescue after he was picked up as a stray, heartworm positive (though showed no symptoms). He has since been treated for heartworm and healthy. Energy Level: Medium-high Velcro level: Inside? Right with his people. Outside? Independent and off exploring. Descriptors: Social. Sweet. Intelligent. Playful. Handsome and slightly majestic. Alter Ego: A toddler - Active, thrives on boundaries, gets bored easily, mischievous, opportunistic... If you leave the room, he will investigate (and, most likely, chew) and get into all the things while you're gone...sometimes even when you're not gone. What we love most: His gorgeous smile. How he's always happy and eager to please - he really just seems to enjoy life, no matter what's going on. What makes us smile: How he has to stretch any time he gets up from a down position (whether it's one second or one hour). How he gets super low and wiggly when you call him to come. How you can often find him sleeping on his back with his legs up in the air. What he loves most: His people. Pleasing his people. Playing with other dogs. Water-play. Food. What he doesn't love: When he thinks he's done something wrong. He's eager to please and can be sensitive to corrections. What he knows: Sit. Sit and Come (sometimes). Leash manners. Riding well in the car. Kids: He has not spent time with kids while in rescue, but we believe he would do best with older, sturdy, dog savvy kids due to his herding-dog nature and he does jump from time to time Dogs: Oh yes! He has loved being around other dogs of all shapes and sizes. He's best suited with a tolerant, playful pup as he can occasionally get rowdy and incessant on instigating play. Cats: Likely a no. House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Need to know: Our boy either needs to be on a leash at all times or a 6 foot fence as he can hop anything shorter. He will thrive in a home who wants a dog who they can truly bond with, and understands the breed and their need for daily physical and mental stimulation. Frederick is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org

Story
Bobby Joe Around 1–2 years old • 35 lbs Rescued from Dallas Animal Services Currently in foster in Danbury, CT Bobby Joe recently saw Dr. Berg for an evaluation as we thought his back legs were a bit off — but he received a clean bill of health Bobby Joe has definitely come out of his shell in the best ways. He is gentle, sweet, affectionate, spunky, and playful. He does need to be on allergy medication as he has a skin condition, but he is a very happy-go-lucky boy. At just 35 lbs, he’s the perfect medium size. He is crate trained and potty trained. Loves other dogs and is great with cats. Not sure about children. He enjoys walks and leisurely explorations. His person just needs to understand that he can be a little shy at the initial meet — but he warms up very quickly and once he does, he just wants to be snuggled. Story
Name: Rebel Age: 11 months Breed: Border Collie mix Size: 45 lbs Adoption Application: https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 Contact: transport@hssm.org Rebel is an 11-month-old Border Collie mix with energy to spare and a personality that’s as big as his zoomies. Rebel was an owner surrender due to his owner being older and not being able to handle him being such an active dog. True to his name, he’s always ready for action—whether that’s chasing a ball, learning a new trick, or turning the yard into his personal playground. Smart and alert, Rebel thrives when his mind and body stay busy. Rebel will do very well with people who understand his breed and can give him ways to exert all of his expendable energy. He is the type of dog that would do well with a job. This bright young pup would love a home that enjoys an active lifestyle and can keep up with his enthusiasm for adventure. Border Collie mixes are known for their intelligence, and Rebel is no exception—he’s eager to learn and ready to impress with the right guidance and positive training. Rebel is still growing into the amazing dog he’s meant to be and would shine with a family ready to channel his energy into fun, learning, and plenty of playtime. Reble already knows basic commands and would definitely be able to learn more advanced commands. If you’re looking for a lively sidekick who will keep life exciting, Rebel is ready to lead the charge. 🐾 Rebel's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you.
