Story
Meet Amber, a girl whose name couldn’t be more fitting. Just like the soft glow of amber itself, she radiates warmth, comfort, and a gentle kind of joy that reaches you the moment you meet her. At 2 years old and 65 pounds, this gorgeous Collie mix is the very definition of a loving companion—sweet, affectionate, and always hoping to be close enough for you to feel the steady beat of her loyal heart. Amber’s story began in a tiny rural community, where she wandered alone until kind locals stepped in to help her. No one came forward to claim her, but maybe that’s because her real family is still out there—someone who will recognize that she was meant for them. When Critter Cavalry Rescue brought her in, they immediately saw it: her remarkable intelligence, her eagerness to bond, and her gentle, soulful spirit. Amber enjoys every simple pleasure with pure gratitude—exploring the world on her harness, leaning in for affection, and curling up with her beloved stuffed bunny, who has become her constant companion. She loves being brushed, loves being talked to, and really loves being included. Amber gets along with other dogs, though her enthusiasm may be a bit much for calmer companions. As for cats… well, they’re a little mysterious and intimidating to her. But people? She adores them—wholeheartedly. This beautiful girl is ready to become someone’s heart dog… that once-in-a-lifetime companion who fills a home with warmth, softness, and quiet devotion. If you are looking for a dog who will love you with her whole soul, who will share every moment by your side, and who will glow with gratitude for the rest of her life, Amber may be the one you’ve been waiting for.   If you are interested please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 22, 2025, 9:52 pm

Story
Scooby is a gentle soul with a heartbreaking story. Rescued from the meat trade in China in 2019, he came to ARF carrying the weight of past trauma. While those hardships made him shy and slow to trust, Scooby has always had the biggest heart and the sweetest personality. Shortly after arriving at ARF, Scooby was adopted into a loving home, where he thrived. Sadly, after the unexpected loss of his favorite person, Scooby has returned to ARF and is once again looking for a place to call home. Scooby is slowly coming out of his shell. When you go to take him outside, he makes soft, expressive noises, communicating his readiness. Once outside, he absolutely lights up; walks are his happy place, and they help him feel brave and confident. He’s especially confident walking alongside other dogs, with whom he’s very friendly. Scooby will thrive in a calm, patient home with a securely fenced yard and no young children. He may benefit from a gentle canine companion to help guide him. He isn't a fan of being hovered over, but with time, patience, and love, Scooby will open up and show you just how special he truly is. If you can offer Scooby the space and patience to blossom, he may just be your perfect match! Interested in fostering Scooby? Visit our foster page to complete a foster application.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application  HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: approx. 8 months (as of 12/4/25) Weight: approx. 38 pounds (as of 12/4/25) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.   Meet the remarkable Rhett! This eight month old Collie/Lab mix is sweet, smart and playful. We’re absolutely enchanted with his handsome little face and those big, floppy ears. Rhett wants his future family to know that he’s working hard to learn new skills, so he can be the best boy in his new home! He just started leash training and walks pretty calmly. He’s also crate trained and doesn’t mind car rides. The early stages of potty training are going very well. He’s a bit jumpy, but that’s normal and can be easily corrected with training. He just can’t help how excited he is to see you! Rhett dreams of finding a loving family that’s committed to training, daily exercise and positive reinforcement of good behavior. He’s a star student, so we’re confident that training will be a worthwhile and enjoyable experience for him and his family. It takes a lot of time and patience to bring up puppies like Rhett, but the love they give back is so worth it. Could Rhett be the newest addition to your fur-ever family? Submit an application today and let him know you’re interested!   An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 4, 2025, 6:28 pm

Her gentle nature shines through in her unwavering love for people; she craves affection and thrives on human touch. But it's not just people she adores-her heart extends to every canine companion she meets, finding joy in playful romps and tail-wagging friendships. Story
Name: King Frederick Nickname: Alakay (real name of Alex the lion from Madagascar) Breed: Collie mix Estimated DOB: 10/14/2022 Weight: 60 lbs. Before OMD: Transferred to OMD Rescue after he was picked up as a stray, heartworm positive (though showed no symptoms). He has since been treated for heartworm and healthy. Energy Level: Medium-high Velcro level: Inside? Right with his people. Outside? Independent and off exploring. Descriptors: Social. Sweet. Intelligent. Playful. Handsome and slightly majestic. Alter Ego: A toddler - Active, thrives on boundaries, gets bored easily, mischievous, opportunistic... If you leave the room, he will investigate (and, most likely, chew) and get into all the things while you're gone...sometimes even when you're not gone. What we love most: His gorgeous smile. How he's always happy and eager to please - he really just seems to enjoy life, no matter what's going on. What makes us smile: How he has to stretch any time he gets up from a down position (whether it's one second or one hour). How he gets super low and wiggly when you call him to come. How you can often find him sleeping on his back with his legs up in the air. What he loves most: His people. Pleasing his people. Playing with other dogs. Water-play. Food. What he doesn't love: When he thinks he's done something wrong. He's eager to please and can be sensitive to corrections. What he knows: Sit. Sit and Come (sometimes). Leash manners. Riding well in the car. Kids: He has not spent time with kids while in rescue, but we believe he would do best with older, sturdy, dog savvy kids due to his herding-dog nature and he does jump from time to time Dogs: Oh yes! He has loved being around other dogs of all shapes and sizes. He's best suited with a tolerant, playful pup as he can occasionally get rowdy and incessant on instigating play. Cats: Likely a no. House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Need to know: Our boy either needs to be on a leash at all times or a 6 foot fence as he can hop anything shorter. He will thrive in a home who wants a dog who they can truly bond with, and understands the breed and their need for daily physical and mental stimulation. Frederick is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org
