There are five adorable puppies in our Primrose litter of 10 week old orphans that have just joined our Connecticut Rescue: Claudia, Eliza, Marius, Primrose and Rayne. All the pups in this litter have gentle temperaments and playful, friendly personalities. Despite the chaotic shelter process, these pups have weathered the storm and show no obvious signs of trauma or neglect.  It appears that the pups’ owner unwittingly facilitated an accidental breeding of unaltered adult housemates and then was overwhelmed by puppy love. She offloaded the puppies to a high kill rural North Carolina Shelter, and we were able to transport them to our place in Canterbury, Connecticut.  We have had the puppies DNA tested, and they are a diverse mix of breeds,but 56% of that mix is Collie. The weight range is projected at 40 to 60 pounds, and their working roots suggest that adopters should be prepared to provide a lot of exercise and mental stimulation.  Any of these pups would be an excellent choice for a savvy Working Breed adopter, willing to commit to ongoing training and socialization. They have taken well to basic puppy Positive Reinforcement training techniques and seem to enjoy the learning process. We seek adopters willing to raise them as Canine Good Citizens.  All of these pups could easily join multi-dog homes with older, playful dogs, tolerant of puppy energy. Story
Meet Bear.  Bear and his siblings were part of an unwanted litter living beneath the front porch of a rural Tennessee home. Concerned neighbors noticed the puppies were not confined and that no one was caring for them. Fearing for their safety, especially after learning they were not being fed regularly, a neighbor intervened and rescued the puppies just before snow and ice swept through Middle Tennessee.   The puppies are now healthy, happy, and ready for their forever families to find them. Bear is a wonderful guy.  He is the biggest puppy in the litter and a true gentle giant.  Bear is a mix of Collie, Australian Cattle Dog and Blue Heeler.  He is 13 weeks old and just a love bug.  Bear will follow  you around until you pick him up and give him a big kiss.  After that he is happy to join his siblings in a game of ball or tug of war.  He really enjoys playing with his brothers and sister as well as the other dogs in his foster home.  This big boy even sleeps with the resident cats. Bear is working on potty training and has it almost mastered.  He just needs to remember why he went outside. He is 13 weeks old.  Cooper enjoys playing with his brothers and sister as well as the other dogs in his foster home.  He even plays with the household cats. Skye is a wonderful the only girl in the litter.  She is a mix of Collie, Australian Cattle Dog and Blue Heeler. Skye is 13 weeks old and very playful.  She is the most loving of the puppies.  She loves to be held like a baby and just bats those baby blues at you to get her way.  Skye holds her own with her brothers.  She enjoys playing with them as well as the other dogs in her foster home.  She is even good with the household cats. Skye is working on potty training and has it almost mastered.  She just needs some consistencey to remember why she went outside. Sweet Dixie has been at the rescue for a little over a year. The group of dogs that she entered care with were quickly adopted out. She is still waiting. Dixie was a young mom who had to scrounge for food while living outside. She no longer has to wonder where her next meal is coming from, but she is still wondering when someone will choose her. Dixie is an energetic girl who just wants to be near her human - she prefers women. She loves to roll in the grass in the sunshine and take walks. Dixie is energetic and enjoys running around at a dog park. Being a heeler, she is very smart and quick to learn. She really wants to please. Dixie would love to find a home where she feels secure and can be active. She will need time to settle in and get used to the routines of the household.
