Story
Bonnie is a beautiful mixed breed/collie who is about 2.5 years old and around 45lbs. She had 7 puppies at our shelter and is now looking for her own perfect home! She is a sweetheart, who loves to jump up on you for hugs and attention. She is incredibly smart and agile and would love a home to keep her active and enriched! She is dog friendly and kid friendly. Once she bonds to people she does have the tendency to guard/protect them, so we are looking for a home with previous experience dealing with any potential guarding issues. Due to the guarding/protective behavior we are marking her for households with children over 12 yrs of age. She seems to enjoy other dogs at the shelter, but due to her small animal prey drive, will need a home without cats or small pets.

Story
Some dogs are fine. Some dogs are good. And then there's Winston — the kind of dog that makes you text your friends "I found him." This handsome 28-pound guy has it all: a friendly, warm personality, great manners already in progress, and a genuine love for people that you feel the moment you meet him. Winston doesn't just tolerate your family — he wants your family. All of them. The loud 4½-year-old running through the house? Winston's already a fan. He's a toy guy, through and through. His foster's toy basket gets emptied. Then refilled. Then emptied again. He'll happily play fetch, entertain himself with a good chew, and bring you something squeaky when he thinks you look bored. He knows how to have fun without being a hurricane about it — which, at 1½–2 years old, is genuinely impressive. Here's what else Winston brings to the table: Walks nicely on leash Knows "sit" and is working on "wait" at mealtimes like a little gentleman About 99% house trained Takes treats gently — no finger casualties reported Crates with a little encouragement — a work in progress, but getting there Loves dogs his own size He does have a prey drive for the small furry wildlife variety (squirrels and rabbits, consider yourselves warned), so a secure yard and leashed walks are a must. Cats are an unknown at this time. Winston is also a fellow storm-hater, but settles down with some reassurance — turns out comfort from his person is all he really needs. When he's not playing or adventuring, you'll find him posted up at the door watching the neighborhood go by, or tucked in close to whoever will have him. He just wants to be part of your world. Winston would do best with: A family or individual who wants an active but manageable companion Kids welcome — he's proven himself with the energetic ones Dog-friendly home a plus A securely fenced yard or committed leash routine Someone who'll be his thunderstorm buddy when the sky gets loud At under two years old, Winston has his whole life ahead of him — and he is absolutely ready to spend it with you. Applications are open. Don't sleep on this one   The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs.
