Story
Some dogs are fine. Some dogs are good. And then there's Winston — the kind of dog that makes you text your friends "I found him." This handsome 28-pound guy has it all: a friendly, warm personality, great manners already in progress, and a genuine love for people that you feel the moment you meet him. Winston doesn't just tolerate your family — he wants your family. All of them. The loud 4½-year-old running through the house? Winston's already a fan. He's a toy guy, through and through. His foster's toy basket gets emptied. Then refilled. Then emptied again. He'll happily play fetch, entertain himself with a good chew, and bring you something squeaky when he thinks you look bored. He knows how to have fun without being a hurricane about it — which, at 1½–2 years old, is genuinely impressive. Here's what else Winston brings to the table: Walks nicely on leash Knows "sit" and is working on "wait" at mealtimes like a little gentleman About 99% house trained Takes treats gently — no finger casualties reported Crates with a little encouragement — a work in progress, but getting there Loves dogs his own size He does have a prey drive for the small furry wildlife variety (squirrels and rabbits, consider yourselves warned), so a secure yard and leashed walks are a must. Cats are an unknown at this time. Winston is also a fellow storm-hater, but settles down with some reassurance — turns out comfort from his person is all he really needs. When he's not playing or adventuring, you'll find him posted up at the door watching the neighborhood go by, or tucked in close to whoever will have him. He just wants to be part of your world. Winston would do best with: A family or individual who wants an active but manageable companion Kids welcome — he's proven himself with the energetic ones Dog-friendly home a plus A securely fenced yard or committed leash routine Someone who'll be his thunderstorm buddy when the sky gets loud At under two years old, Winston has his whole life ahead of him — and he is absolutely ready to spend it with you. Applications are open. Don't sleep on this one   The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 30, 2026, 12:31 pm

Story
Bonnie is a beautiful mixed breed/collie who is about 2.5 years old and around 45lbs. She had 7 puppies at our shelter and is now looking for her own perfect home! She is a sweetheart, who loves to jump up on you for hugs and attention. She is incredibly smart and agile and would love a home to keep her active and enriched! She is dog friendly and kid friendly. Once she bonds to people she does have the tendency to guard/protect them, so we are looking for a home with previous experience dealing with any potential guarding issues. Due to the guarding/protective behavior we are marking her for households with children over 12 yrs of age. She seems to enjoy other dogs at the shelter, but due to her small animal prey drive, will need a home without cats or small pets.

Story
https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/8 NAPERVILLE, IL Kirby is a gentle, mahogany sable Rough Collie who brings a calm, comforting presence to any room. This mellow, house-trained senior girl loves staying close to her people and would thrive in a quiet home that can support her slower pace and mobility needs. Kirby is a 11-year-old Rough Collie whose sweetness and easygoing nature shine through in everything she does. She’s fully house trained, rarely vocal, and content with a simple routine that includes short, regular walks and plenty of couch time. Kirby prefers to stay near her adults, soaking up gentle affection and companionship rather than high-energy play. She’s learning to loosen up and play a bit from her foster siblings, but her favorite role is quiet, loyal shadow. Due to significant muscle loss in her rear legs, Kirby has difficulty with stairs and getting up, so she needs a home that can accommodate her mobility challenges. She’s doing better with supportive care and supplements, but still benefits from a safe, stable environment where she can move at her own pace. A fenced yard is always desirable but she doesn’t require it as long as she gets age-appropriate exercise. Kirby moves carefully around seniors and would be an ideal match for a calm, patient household ready to offer her comfort, consistency, and love in her golden years.

Story
Fostered near Plainfield, IL Fenced yard required https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/2051 Sylvia is NOT all collie. But she's a delightful cocktail of Collie, Border Collie, Australian Shepherd, and Cattle Dog. True, she doesn't look quite like what you pictured. BUT what if we told you Sylvia is more collie than she looks, cleverly disguised in a cuddly, 35-pound, perfectly portable, low-coat-maintenance package! With many of the classic Collie qualities that Smooth Collie lovers know to love and adore. Listen how her foster home describes her: people-oriented, thoughtful, exceptionally intelligent-just like both Smooth and Rough Collies - eager to please, sensitive, devoted… Sounds familiar, right? Stay with me. Sylvia has the soft, affectionate disposition that collie fans crave. She knows how to settle and chill, she chooses to rest on foster dad's foot instead of a doggie bed, whenever possible. She loves to cuddle but is always ready for fun, outdoor adventures, easy-peasy rides in the car. But most of all she enjoys simply being included in everyday life with her family. Now, she IS still a young dog - under a year old - with a playful curiosity and joyful energy of a puppy, balanced by an impressive ability to settle and connect with her people. She's curious, playful, and energetic. She is a little too much for some dogs, and she has been a little opinionated about doggie friends. Her foster home is working on this with her. So for now, she's considered best as an ONLY dog. She has not been tested with cats, and older kids would be best. A physical fence will be required because she will need to bond with her new family before she can ever be trusted off leash safely. She's even house-trained and widely trustworthy in the home. She rides great in the car, loves hiking adventures, but also plays nicely with toys all by herself. Sylvia captures so much of what makes Collies so beloved — especially the classic Collie devotion, gentleness, and companionship that make the breed such a wonderful family dog. With her strong devotion to her humans, Sylvia is soooo close to the perfect dog for many collie folks…look a little deeper and discover what might make her perfect for you. Who knew!

Story
Bo Peep and Woody were found as strays together, very scared. It took a few days for them to realize we’re all ok here, but they always looked to each other for comfort. We’re hoping these 2 can stay together in their forever home. They are both very sweet and adorable! We don’t recommend small kids in their new home since they came in so scared.
