Story
If you are looking for a sweet, soulful companion in a perfectly portable size, Diego is your guy. With his stunning tri-color coat and expressive eyes, Diego is beautiful inside and out. Despite a rough past, he has remained incredibly resilient and affectionate; his signature move is resting his paws on your chair and bowing his head to ask for ear scratches. He is a devoted shadow who wants nothing more than to be included in every family snuggle, curl up at your feet while you read, or supervise your cooking (just in case a scrap falls on the floor!).Diego is the definition of a polite house guest. He is 100% house-trained, signals when he needs to go out, and is so well-behaved that he doesn’t require a crate when left home alone. He is also fantastic on a leash, unbothered by snow or cold, and already knows commands like `sit,` `stay,` and `down.` Being very food-motivated and attentive makes him easy to train. While he is generally quiet and easygoing, he does have a playful, curious side, especially when outdoor smells catch his attention.Diego is looking for a home where he can be loved like he deserves. He would do best in a home without cats and with adults or older children. While he is open to meeting other dogs, he is currently neutral toward them and focuses mostly on his humans. If you are looking for a loyal, charming, and low-maintenance friend who has handled life’s challenges with total grace, Diego is ready to join your family.Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Story
FENCED YARD REQUIRED https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/2056 Riley is a 5-month‑old sable and white rough collie puppy who adores dogs and people, thrives with canine friends, and is bravely learning that the big world isn’t so scary after all. She’s crate trained, nearly housebroken, and looking for a calm, patient family to help her blossom in a securely fenced home. In her foster home, Riley relaxes most when she has other dogs to follow, and she quickly picks up household routines. She already knows her name, has a pretty good recall, and settles nicely in her crate. House training is coming along well, and she’s close to having it mastered. Riley rides reasonably in the car and can settle after activity, making her a promising young companion for adopters who enjoy helping a shy puppy gain confidence. Outside, Riley is still working through her worries about sudden noises and movement. She’s made progress over the last two weeks, especially when walking with a canine buddy, but she remains hesitant to leave the yard alone and may dash for the door when startled. She’ll do best in a single‑family home with a secure fence or dog run, respectful children ages 8+, and at least one friendly resident dog. Patient adopters who can offer reassurance, gentle handling, and consistent routines will help this sweet collie puppy continue to grow braver every day.

Story
FENCED YARD REQUIRED https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/58 Meet Libby, a 3-year-old Rough Collie with a unique sable merle coat and captivating mismatched eyes. This playful girl is looking for a loving cat-free home where she can thrive alongside respectful children and other dogs! Libby is a sweet and intelligent girl who enjoys being the center of attention, especially from her favorite humans. With a playful spirit and a knack for training, she responds well to positive reinforcement, particularly when treats like hot dogs or string cheese are involved. Although she can be a bit stubborn, her charming personality shines through as she engages with her foster family. Libby is fully house-trained and crate-trained, making her an ideal companion for families with children aged 5 and up. Libby requires a secure yard and would thrive in a single-family home or larger space. While she's friendly with other dogs, she needs to be in a cat-free environment due to her strong prey drive. Her foster family is currently working on her vocalization and reactivity to loud noises. With the right training and love, Libby is sure to become a cherished member of her forever family.

Story
https://www.collierescue.org/dogs/8 NAPERVILLE, IL Kirby is a gentle, mahogany sable Rough Collie who brings a calm, comforting presence to any room. This mellow, house-trained senior girl loves staying close to her people and would thrive in a quiet home that can support her slower pace and mobility needs. Kirby is a 11-year-old Rough Collie whose sweetness and easygoing nature shine through in everything she does. She’s fully house trained, rarely vocal, and content with a simple routine that includes short, regular walks and plenty of couch time. Kirby prefers to stay near her adults, soaking up gentle affection and companionship rather than high-energy play. She’s learning to loosen up and play a bit from her foster siblings, but her favorite role is quiet, loyal shadow. Due to significant muscle loss in her rear legs, Kirby has difficulty with stairs and getting up, so she needs a home that can accommodate her mobility challenges. She’s doing better with supportive care and supplements, but still benefits from a safe, stable environment where she can move at her own pace. A fenced yard is always desirable but she doesn’t require it as long as she gets age-appropriate exercise. Kirby moves carefully around seniors and would be an ideal match for a calm, patient household ready to offer her comfort, consistency, and love in her golden years.
