Story
Ruby was rescued as a puppy from a gas station area. She is approximately 10 months to a year old. She rides nicely in a car, uses a doggie door and has never had an accident in the house since she got the hang of the door in a couple of days. She sleeps quietly in a crate at night but would probably be fine out of a crate. I have another small dog that Ruby loves to play with so another furry friend would be great. She can be left out in the house while I am gone. She does not bark excessively, but will react to squirrels and rabbits on the leash. (can be redirected). She loves children as well. We are working on not jumping on people. After she greets, however, she quiets nicely. She does not seem frightened of fireworks or loud noises. She is a velcro dog and does love to give leg licks! $50 fee is to mitigate the the cost of the 3 in 1 flea, tick, heartworm medications that come with her.

Story
We adopted Wulf as a puppy he has always been high strung, which we attributed to the border collie in him. But as our family grew, so did his anxiety, he has lived in our home with two other dogs, and when his anxiety gets bad, he does lash out at the other dogs. The veterinarian has put them on Prozac, which helped at first but doesn’t seem to be as effective now. Him and my youngest dog got into it and he ended up getting hurt and had to be on antibiotics. Luckily, my parents took him in for a couple weeks so he could heal and during that time in a quieter environment with no other dogs, he did really well. He is a good boy, looking back. I feel like we’ve spent so much time trying to make him conform to our life when maybe we weren’t the right fit for him. I believe he would do better in a home with no other dogs, possibly with an older person or couple who is home more with him and less chaos. He’s smart he knows how to sit and shake he is crate trained.

Story
Hi I'm Mable! I came to the shelter with my 3 other siblings. Our mom was a Blue Heeler mix and our dad was a Cane Corso mix- so I'll likely be a medium sized girl but with the great personality mix of the two breeds! I'm a little shy as I haven't had much experience in this world but I'm sweet and willing to learn it with you! Give a sweet girl like me a chance and take me home.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment.
