Story
I’ve had Sybil for a while now, which is OK with me as she is my best and easiest dog in the kennel. But, she is ready for her forever home and her forever person. She was a bit of a challenge when I got her, but she has recovered and then some. I did do a fair amount of training work with her, she is a easy student and a very quick study. She loves being out in her yard seeing the world, barking at deer, romping w/the other dogs when we go by on our walks and most of all, hunting mice. Which is a bit annoying as she does create some good holes. Sybil is good on a leash and I enjoy our walks together. She’s an energetic dog, but not a hyper dog. She is the only dog in my kennel not to bark when i walk the other dogs. She calmly waits for her turn. Sybil is independent, but also loves her person and will be a dedicated dog. She likes people but seems to meet women better than men. Which isn’t unusual. She also does well with other dogs with a proper introduction. She does seem to be choosey though, likes and dislikes dogs for reason I can’t understand. Sybil isn’t an anybody dog. She is very smart and needs someone who is a bit dog savvy and will be the alpha leader. Being the alpha leader is not a physical thing, it’s how you think, your attitude, and demeanor. She’s an awesome dog. And she would like her forever home. If that someone is you and you would like to meet her.

Story
Monty is a great name for a great dog like me ;) I have the Monty Python kind of humor... goofy and sweet! But, don't mess with my crate! That really is my only "pet: peeve!! I was found on the streets 2 years ago and was adopted as a pup... however, I became the boss in the house and didn't like anyone entering the house that I didn't know :( SO..... Back to the rescue, because they won't give up on me!! So here I am and I have really adjusted to the environment and new people meeting me and treats and lots of love. AND the crew here basically has determined that I need a family/adopters that will be in charge of the house. Someone I can trust to protect me so I don't have to!! I am vocal in my crate, so my crate needs to be away from the common areas so I can relax and not meet everyone that stops by. Once I settle into my new home I will follow your lead! I am a gorgeous boy, with caramel and milk chocolate highlights in my soft fur. I want to please my family and go on all kinds of adventures! I am awesome out and about, meeting new people and new friends :D I hope you will look into my eyes, the windows to my soul, and see the HOPE I have to find my own home again! The rescue is great because I got a second chance, but I REALLY want a home!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Story
Meet Freckles — Red-Spotted, Smart, and Sweet-as-Pie Freckles is a 1 year, 7-month-old Cattle Dog/Pit mix with the cutest red freckles you’ve ever seen and a heart full of potential. She’s silly, smart, and secretly a snugglebug... once she trusts you. Nervous Nellie at first — new people and places make her shy, but give her time and patience, and you’ll unlock the most loyal little lovebug you’ve ever met.* Once she’s comfy, she’s: • A total lap dog• Can’t control her licker (seriously, brace for kisses!)• Treat and toy obsessed• Professionally trained – sit, down, stay, come, and even waits politely for her food ??• Crate trained and house-ready!!! A few things about our freckled friend:*Needs a secure fenced yard*No kids – too scary.*No cats – hard pass.VERY SCARY *Could be OK with a respectful, calm dog friend. Forward dogs are very scary. ??*Needs someone with herding breed or high-energy dog experience*Looking for an adventure buddy who’ll give her lots of enrichment and guidanceShe’s got that “nervous at first, best friend forever” energy — and if you’re patient and kind, Freckles will blossom into your shadow, your hiking pal, your snuggle partner, and your little ray of sunshine. ??Are you the one for her? Come meet Freckles!

Story
Shy little Millie is looking for her safe place to land Millie was surrendered to the shelter due to unforeseen circumstances, and she arrived very shut down, fearful, and unsure of the world around her. In those early days, even something as simple as a ball outside felt overwhelming to her.She is a sensitive Cattle Dog type who takes her time to trust, and she will need a calm, low-traffic home with someone experienced in helping nervous dogs feel safe at their own pace.Millie previously lived with an autistic child and was very protective and loyal to them, showing her deep capacity to bond once she feels secure.Since beginning to decompress, her personality has slowly started to peek through. When she’s comfortable, Millie enjoys zooming around the yard with happy bursts of energy. She’s also shown interest in other dogs, sometimes initiating playful behavior along the fence line—though face-to-face interactions will need slow, thoughtful introductions.Millie is: * Potty trained* Walks fairly well on leash* Best suited for a calm, patient home* Dog-selective and needs slow introductionsUnderneath her fear is a dog who wants to connect—she just needs time, safety, and someone willing to let her unfold at her own pace

Story
Hawkeye & Remi – Bonded Seniors with Big HeartsHawkeye – 10-year-old Black Lab MixHawkeye is a gentle senior who enjoys the simple things in life—sunshine, fresh air, and a good shady spot to settle down after making sure the yard is safe and secure. He takes his “security patrol” duties seriously, then happily retires to relax and enjoy his day.Hawkeye is house trained on a schedule of about 6–7 hours and currently benefits from a midday let-out to comfortably do his business. He requires a fenced yard, as this is where he prefers to potty and spend time exploring at his own pace.He does well on a leash and is continuing to improve with short morning or evening walks, which also help manage his arthritis. His arthritis is supported with a Cosequin supplement, and he should wear a harness instead of a collar due to laryngeal paralysis, which can be aggravated by heat or pressure on the neck. Because of this, mid-afternoon heat is avoided for activity.Hawkeye is social and gets along well with other dogs. He also showed no adverse reaction when meeting a cat at the veterinary clinic.Remi – 8-year-old Border Collie MixRemi is the more active of the pair and a classic border collie at heart—intelligent, observant, and always keeping an eye on the world around him. He enjoys running in a fenced yard and making sure everything in the neighborhood is running “on schedule.”He is affectionate and loves spending time with his people, often resting his head in your lap while you relax in the evening. Remi enjoys companionship and attention just as much as activity. He does well with other dogs, though he has not officially been tested with cats—based on his temperament, there are no immediate concerns, but this is not confirmed. Remi is also learning leash skills and enjoys 2–3 short walks daily. He does best when crated in the morning, as he can occasionally have accidents if left loose during that time.TogetherHawkeye and Remi are a sweet, bonded-feeling pair who enjoy each other’s company and bring out the best in one another. They balance each other beautifully—Hawkeye’s calm, easygoing nature pairs perfectly with Remi’s playful curiosity and intelligence. They are both loving dogs who enjoy companionship, routine, and a safe space to relax and just be themselves.
