He takes his “security patrol” duties seriously, then happily retires to relax and enjoy his day.Hawkeye is house trained on a schedule of about 6–7 hours and currently benefits from a midday let-out to comfortably do his business. He requires a fenced yard, as this is where he prefers to potty and spend time exploring at his own pace.He does well on a leash and is continuing to improve with short morning or evening walks, which also help manage his arthritis. His arthritis is supported with a Cosequin supplement, and he should wear a harness instead of a collar due to laryngeal paralysis, which can be aggravated by heat or pressure on the neck. Because of this, mid-afternoon heat is avoided for activity.Hawkeye is social and gets along well with other dogs.
