Story
Meet Jules, a striking 3-year-old Collie x Spaniel with a glossy black-and-tan coat and one of the most eye-catching faces you'll find at the shelter — her mismatched eyes give her a truly one-of-a-kind look. This girl is high energy and loves to be on the move, but don't let that fool you — she's also well trained and knows how to settle in when it's time to relax. Jules would thrive with an active family who can match her enthusiasm for walks, hikes, and playtime out here in the Silver City high desert. She's affectionate, alert, and always ready for her next adventure, whether that's chasing a ball across the yard or curling up after a long day outdoors. Jules is spayed prior to adoption and her adoption fee is $130. Come meet this spirited girl in person — call High Desert Humane Society at 575-538-9261 to learn more!

Story
Teddy is a 3-year-old Smooth Coat Collie/German Shepherd mix who has come a long way since arriving at the shelter. When he first got here, he was very scared and preferred to keep his distance from people. Thanks to the shelter`s Shy Dog Program, Teddy has made tremendous progress and is learning that humans aren`t nearly as scary as he once thought. These days, Teddy has warmed up to volunteers and enjoys attention and petting from people he knows. He may still be a little shy in new situations or when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, he`ll happily lean in for affection. Underneath that cautious exterior is a sweet, gentle dog who wants to connect.Teddy walks nicely on leash and enjoys getting out and exploring with his human friends. He also appears playful with other dogs and regularly gives off friendly, social vibes through the fence. His previous owners surrendered him due to financial reasons and reported that he spent most of his time outdoors. Teddy seems ready for an upgrade. He`d much rather be included in family life and would do best as an indoor dog with supervised outdoor time. Because he`s a smart boy with both Collie and Shepherd brains, he`ll benefit from training, enrichment activities, puzzle toys, and anything else that gives him a job to do besides contemplating the meaning of life in the backyard or looking for things to do himself.Teddy will need a secure yard and a family willing to continue building his confidence. In return, you`ll get a loyal companion who has already proven that with a little patience and kindness, he can blossom into a wonderful friend.
