🤠 Meet Walker Texas Ranger!Walker is a sweet, energetic boy with a whole lot of personality packed into one handsome pup. He absolutely loves being petted—and if you stop before he’s ready, don’t be surprised when he slips right under your arm and gives you a little nudge for more. Apparently, petting time ends when Walker says it ends. 😂Walker was returned because his energy was a bit too much for the young children in his previous home. Being a herding breed, he’s active, enthusiastic, and always ready to be part of the action. We believe he would be best suited for a home with older children who can better match his energy.Walker is affectionate, fun, and full of life. If you’re looking for a buddy who will keep you smiling—and make sure you never forget to give him attention—come meet Walker Texas Ranger! 🤠🐾An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
Hi everybody, I'M CHAMP💙When I first came into rescue a few weeks ago, I was very timid and shy. They called me flapjack because I pancaked on the floor a lot. I have definitely come out of my shell and am turning into the perfect mix of playful and affectionate! 💙I am a border Collie mix and am approximately 6 months old. I currently weigh in at 32 pounds. 💙I love playing with the doodle gang here in my foster home, so I know I would definitely love to have a playmate to help me burn off some of my puppy energy! 💙I'm great with the cats and will sniff them (they smell funny) and just lay next to them. 💙I'm basically Mr. Congeniality with everyone! 💙I am crate trained andhave learned the doggy door very well. I'm actually a pretty smart boy! Oh, and did I mention handsome...with these blue eyes and all? 💙I am still a puppy, so I need guidance on all puppy matters....chewing, jumping up, play biting etc.I also don't remember ever wearing a collar or being hooked to this thing they call a leash...and it's a little scary! I'm still learning to trust that process, but I'm getting the hang of it! 💙I will steal your heart and be your best friend and a treasured part of your family if you adopt me! 💙I am available for foster-to-adopt with my adoption being finalized after my vetting is complete.I already started those poky things they call vaccines and microchips and started taking monthly heartworm prevention. My vetting will be completed by the end of the month after my neuter (I'm not sure I even want to know what that is)! 💙If you're interested in me becoming a part your family, please submit an adoption application at www.pawsofadamscounty.com.The ladies here say you must answer all questions completely and honestly to be considered being lucky enough to share your life with me! 💙I can't wait to meet my forever family! 💙www.pawsofadamscounty.com

Story
Hi friends, I’m Resi!I would like to begin by saying that I am VERY busy. There are things to sniff. Things to investigate. Things to learn. People to impress. And, most importantly, WATER. I have places to be and splashing to do. I am a high energy, goofy little chaos gremlin and a firm believer that life is best lived at approximately 110% at all times. The staff here love me, because I am the best. I came to FDHS a few months ago after my family’s home burned down and they had nowhere else for me to go. Before that, I spent most of my life living on a tie out next to railroad tracks. When I first arrived, I was kind of a hot mess. I had not exactly been given much opportunity to learn how to be a well rounded dog, so I needed some help with my manners and figuring out this whole “being a gentleman” thing. Luckily, I’ve had some pretty great people in my corner and I’ve made a LOT of progress. Now, let’s discuss my greatest passion: WATER. I LOVE WATER. I want to swim in it, splash in it, investigate it, and wallop around in it all day. I am convinced I was a mermaid in a previous life and I would like to return to my aquatic roots. I’m also interested in making some animal friends! I’ve been friendly with other dogs through the kennel and have shown interest in playing. I’m polite but curious around the cats in the catio, too. New people are a little more complicated. I didn’t get much practice with them growing up, so I can be shy and standoffish until I decide you are one of the good ones. Treats help tremendously. In fact, I am willing to reconsider almost any opinion in exchange for snacks.I do have some things my future family will need to understand. I LOVE food. Perhaps a little too much. I can gobble down my meals and have been known to resource guard my food bowl and high value treats. I do great with a slow feeder and prefer to enjoy my meals peacefully in my kennel. My future family will need to respect my boundaries around food and continue helping me build confidence and trust.I’m looking for an active family who understands my breed, enjoys a dog with a little extra horsepower and is ready to keep teaching me. I’ve been through some really hard things, but I have a LOT of life left to live, and I’m hoping my forever family is out there ready to keep up!**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 40 lbs**
