Once this guy got over his shyness, he wanted to spend all of his time in our laps! He even loves to play dress up, so if you like to dress up in holiday sweaters, Henry is the perfect companion. He will need help overcoming his shyness and building his confidence, especially when it comes to men. If you are interested in Henry, head over to our website www.humanecherokeecounty.org, click on adoption and fill out a form, and a volunteer will contact you.

Story
Hi , my name is Jimmy and I came in with my brother Furby. Sadly our owner passed away and now we are both looking for a new home. We miss our owner very much , but we are still doing our best here to be good boys. I am house trained and walk well on a leash. I do like to bark sometimes and don't always get along with other male dogs , except for my brother of course. I really love people and spending time with them. May 28, 2026, 5:11 pm

Story
I get along well with cats, making me an ideal companion for any family with furry friends. - TJ Dogs are usually tested with other dogs their size, and we encourage meet-and-greets with your dog before adoption. Cat tests are available if requested, but they only check for clear aggression. Always be careful when introducing dogs to cats. Advice about dogs living with children is based on behavior like energy level and how the dog handles touch. Young children should never be left alone with dogs, and we cannot guarantee how any dog will behave with kids or other pets. Behavior seen in the shelter is just a snapshot and may change in a home. Dogs come from many backgrounds and may need training, time, and patience. Dogs should not be fed together unless you know they do not guard food. We also suggest learning about a dog's breed or mix to be sure it fits your family. Moving to a new home can be stressful for dogs. Use the Rule of 3 to help them adjust: First 3 days: Dogs may feel scared, tired, overexcited, or not want to eat. First 3 weeks: Dogs start learning routines and may show new behaviors. Keep things calm and avoid busy places. First 3 months: Dogs usually feel settled and more comfortable. Story
Meet Sam, a 1-year-old sweetheart with a gentle soul and a love for cuddles. Sam is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms, and he’s handling it like a champ. Through it all, he’s remained loving, resilient, and eager to connect with the people around him. This affectionate boy is a total cuddle bug—he’ll happily crawl right into your lap and melt into you for snuggles. He has a soft, gentle nature but still has his playful moments, especially when the zoomies kick in! Sam is treat-motivated and loves learning, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience for both of you. He’s already working on his basic commands and is excited to keep building his skills and confidence. If you’re looking for a loving companion who will stick close by your side, shower you with affection, and grow alongside you, Sam might just be your perfect match.Breed is based on physical features. All shelter animals are considered to be a mixture of breeds.
