You'll feel like you've known Anikan forever. This handsome black‑and‑white Collie mix has the soft, steady presence of a seasoned companion paired with the playful spark of a dog who still loves a good romp. At seven years old, he’s the perfect blend of active and easygoing, up for adventure but just as happy to curl up for a nap. I n his busy foster home, Anikan has shown himself to be affectionate, intelligent, gentle, and wonderfully even‑tempered. He enjoys meeting new people and seems to love dogs of all sizes; in foster care, he's been spending multiple hours per day with canine playmates   in the yard , where he enjoys fetch, tug-o-war, wrestling, and bitey-mouth games. His overall vibe? Sweet, social, and active. Anikan thrives on connection, either with a warm lap or a feisty puppy's teeth. Despite his enthusiasm for rough-and-tumble play,   he settles beautifully indoors and has shown to be an excellent house guest : no accidents, no destruction, and calm when crated for up to eight hours. He’s still polishing up his leash skills, but he’s eager to please and learns quickly. In the car, he’s calm and comfortable. He'd love to live with a friendly dog companion if possible, but he'd also do fine in a household of humans with enough love to give. Medical Note:  This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease.  Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future.  Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete.  Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home.  This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment, and is expected to complete treatment with no complications.  Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for and current status of this dog.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 3, 2026, 10:59 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: about 5 months (as of 3/29/26) Weight: 15 lbs. (as of 2/4/26) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Say hello to Bear Theo! He's one of three young puppies in the new Theo litter. He and his sisters look to be Collie mixes, guessing about 4 months old. They've been living in their foster home for a few weeks now, so we don't know a lot about them yet, but so far they seem to be your typical playful puppies! They are all very friendly and have liked everyone they've met so far, while living in a relatively quiet neighborhood and a low-traffic home. The Theo pups like playing with each other and other dogs, and they've been curious and respectful with the cats they've encountered so far. They've been spending their days playing with each other in the yard, chewing on some squeaky toys, and cuddling after a full day of fun. Bear is your classic happy, goofy puppy. He's affectionate and likes to meet new people - he'll probably jump up to say hi when he meets you! He's an excited young dog and still working on some of his manners, housetraining, and leash walking. He does great in his crate and has been staying in it, calm and quiet, for about six hours a day. So far, he seems to be very obedient and we think that with the right training, he'll pick up these other skills in no time. Bear should be in a household that has the time and energy to dedicate to the training a young puppy needs to thrive. He is slightly more low-key than his siblings, but still should have about 1-2 hours a day of exercise. A puppy training class would also be great for Bear and his new human(s) to learn some training techniques together.  Bear is a fun-loving, adorable puppy and is ready to find his fur-ever home!  An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this.
