Story
Meet Roo! ❤️🐾 Roo is a stunning, smart, and active girl who forms incredibly strong bonds with those she trusts. Her past is unknown, and she can be nervous in new situations, taking time to feel comfortable with unfamiliar people. Once she does, though, she's a loyal, affectionate companion who loves being by your side. Roo is looking for a quiet, adult-only home with an experienced adopter who understands that trust takes time. She'll thrive with a predictable routine, continued training, and thoughtful introductions to new people. A home with one or two adults and few visitors would be ideal. She's eager to learn, loves staying active, and will flourish with someone who enjoys training and celebrating every little victory. One of Roo's favorite things in the world is her toys—it's impossible not to smile watching her happily toss them around, entertain herself, and break into playful zoomies. She also enjoys spending time with her canine friends, whether it's going for walks together or romping around the play yard. While she gets along well with other dogs, she'd prefer to be the only dog in her home so she doesn't have to share her favorite humans. She may also do well with a dog-savvy cat. Roo isn't looking for everyone—she's looking for her people. If you have a patient heart and are ready to give this special girl the chance she deserves, she's looking for a foster or adoptive home where she can finally relax and shine. ❤️

Story
There are five adorable puppies in our Primrose litter of 10 week old orphans that have just joined our Connecticut Rescue: Claudia, Eliza, Marius, Primrose and Rayne. All the pups in this litter have gentle temperaments and playful, friendly personalities. Despite the chaotic shelter process, these pups have weathered the storm and show no obvious signs of trauma or neglect.  It appears that the pups’ owner unwittingly facilitated an accidental breeding of unaltered adult housemates and then was overwhelmed by puppy love. She offloaded the puppies to a high kill rural North Carolina Shelter, and we were able to transport them to our place in Canterbury, Connecticut.  We have had the puppies DNA tested, and they are a diverse mix of breeds, but 56% of that mix is Collie. The weight range is projected at 40 to 60 pounds, and their working roots suggest that adopters should be prepared to provide a lot of exercise and mental stimulation.  Any of these pups would be an excellent choice for a savvy Working Breed adopter, willing to commit to ongoing training and socialization. They have taken well to basic puppy Positive Reinforcement training techniques and seem to enjoy the learning process. We seek adopters willing to raise them as Canine Good Citizens.  All of these pups could easily join multi-dog homes with older, playful dogs, tolerant of puppy energy. They would thrive with an active single, couple or family with older kids who have been taught to be gentle with young dogs.  All puppies are in excellent health, fully vaccinated and dewormed. If you are interested in one of our Primrose litter mates, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

He'll be arriving to our rescue on June 27th, ready for a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time. Story
Say hello to Jax! Jax is a handsome man and he'd love a place to call his own. Jax is suspected to be a cattle dog mix, but he's only about 35 lbs - a pocket heeler! He is anxious and a little nervous around new people and would likely do best in a quiet home with some time to decompress and show you his true personality. Jax is a higher energy dog and he thrives off of daily walks, play, and enrichment to keep him happy. He has previously lived with other dogs, even dogs several times his own size, and done well with them. Jax has no experience with cats and would benefit from a slow introduction to ensure the safety and comfort of all animals. **if you are interested in adopting, please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and come in during our open hours (Wednesday-Sunday, 12-4)**

Meet Smalls (aka Chuck Norris)Smalls is a 1-year-old cattle dog who’s equal parts fun, loyal, and full of life. This handsome boy has never met a stranger—he truly loves everyone, from adults to kids, and gets along great with other dogs and even cats. He’s both potty trained and crate trained, making him an easy, ready-to-go addition to the right home. Smalls is the perfect balance of active and affectionate—he’s always up for a long walk or adventure, but just as happy curling up next to you for some quality cuddle time.Like any cattle dog, Smalls thrives with activity and would do best with an active family. A fenced-in yard would be ideal for him to safely run, play, and burn off that energy. And fair warning—this boy has something to say! Smalls is a “talker” who will happily chat with you, especially when you get home, making sure you feel extra loved. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who will keep you moving and make you smile every single day—Smalls is your guy.If interested in adopting please go to the website or go to the adoption process section and click on the adoption link to submit your adoption application.

Story
Frankie is a sweet puppy boy who is a foster favorite. He's everything you want in a dog: goofy, loving, playful, sweet, and cuddly! We think he's a border collie/bully breed mix, but whatever his mix is, it makes him perfect! A smart little guy, Frankie keeps his crate clean and does really well in the house. He loves chasing balls and wrestling with other dogs. This sweet puppy's greatest trait is that he loves his people. While his littermates take off when they come out of the crate, he immediately stays behind to give kisses and be petted. There's a heart dog in every litter, and Frankie is that dog. Frankie was born in December 2025 and found on a dirt road in January. He's fully vetted and ready to be your best snuggle buddy. If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
