Story
Cazmic has been the perfect family companion for over 11 years. He was raised with infants and small children, so he knows not to bark in the house and does not jump on people. He is very calm annd loving. No scratching, biting, growling ever. Unfortunately, he has recently had some health issues that have made it difficult for us to continue to care for him. He recently had a cancerous rectal mass removed. Since then, he has had intermittent diarrhea and requires more frequent opportunities to relieve himself. He has been house trained since he was a puppy. He still makes an attempt to notify the family he needs to be let out, but it we are unavailable (not at home), he has been having bowel movement accidents in the house. He has also battled itchy skin for the last two years. Though we love our long time companion, our busy schedules keep us from being able to meet his new care needs. He is free to a loving home that will help him age gracefully.

Story
There are five adorable puppies in our Primrose litter of 10 week old orphans that have just joined our Connecticut Rescue: Claudia, Eliza, Marius, Primrose and Rayne. All the pups in this litter have gentle temperaments and playful, friendly personalities. Despite the chaotic shelter process, these pups have weathered the storm and show no obvious signs of trauma or neglect.  It appears that the pups’ owner unwittingly facilitated an accidental breeding of unaltered adult housemates and then was overwhelmed by puppy love. She offloaded the puppies to a high kill rural North Carolina Shelter, and we were able to transport them to our place in Canterbury, Connecticut.  We have had the puppies DNA tested, and they are a diverse mix of breeds, but 56% of that mix is Collie. The weight range is projected at 40 to 60 pounds, and their working roots suggest that adopters should be prepared to provide a lot of exercise and mental stimulation.  Any of these pups would be an excellent choice for a savvy Working Breed adopter, willing to commit to ongoing training and socialization. They have taken well to basic puppy Positive Reinforcement training techniques and seem to enjoy the learning process. We seek adopters willing to raise them as Canine Good Citizens.  All of these pups could easily join multi-dog homes with older, playful dogs, tolerant of puppy energy. They would thrive with an active single, couple or family with older kids who have been taught to be gentle with young dogs.  All puppies are in excellent health, fully vaccinated and dewormed. If you are interested in one of our Primrose litter mates, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call/text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

Story
Max Collie is a big-hearted, sweet boy looking for a patient and understanding adopter who will help him discover the world at his own pace.Max hasn’t had much experience with the outdoors, so new sights, sounds, and experiences can feel overwhelming. When he becomes frightened, his first instinct is to run, making a secure environment and careful introductions especially important. His adopter should be prepared to build his confidence gradually and give him plenty of time, patience, and encouragement as he learns that outdoor adventures can be safe and enjoyable.Max loves meeting other dogs and may thrive in a home with a confident canine companion who can help him feel more comfortable and secure. Because Max is still learning to navigate the world, any children in his home should be older teens. Max is a very strong boy.Max is ready to begin a wonderful new chapter. If you are interested in adopting please come to the shelter on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 12-4pm, and bring your other household members and any dogs that live in the home.

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Unknown, likely yesGood with kids: Yes, dog savvy childrenCrate trained: YesHouse Trained: YesStrawberry Jam is a beautiful, smart girl who is slowly but surely learning to trust and getting a little braver every day. She is a medium energy gal who loves a good romp in the yard, playing chase with her friends, and a scenic hike. She is looking for a patient person willing to give her the time and space she needs to come out of her shell.Strawberry is great with other dogs and enjoys playing with her fur buddies in her foster home, approaching new dogs with a gentle, non-confrontational energy. She gains confidence from other dogs and would thrive in a home with doggy siblings or a family with lots of doggy friends. She has not been around cats, but her timid and submissive nature suggests she would likely do well with a feline sibling. She has met a few children and tends to be shy with new people at first, so she would do best with dog savvy children who will give her space. Once she warms up to new people she’s the sweetest girl. Strawberry is a bright girl who loves chew toys, bones, and chewy treats. She is fully crate trained and will even crate herself willingly. She is fully house trained, going to the door and waiting to be let out after her crate time. She walks on leash and enjoys pack walks with other dogs. Strawberry looks to her family for guidance and reassurance in new situations. She is looking for a patient and loving home to help her to continue to blossom and see that the world is a little less scary. This sweet, quirky girl has come so far already and just needs the right person to help her keep blooming. Could you be that person for Strawberry Jam?Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at www.lasthopek9.org. Story
Meet Mercy - Now its her turn! Adoption Fee: $449 Adoption Application - Copy & Paste https://forms.gle/FmtRtYxQNnemdkdw9. Mercy has spent the last several months being a wonderful mama, and now that all but one of her puppies have found their forever homes, we think its finally time for Mercy to be somebodys baby. Mercy is a young girl around 1 year old, a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being close to her people. She loves attention, enjoys being petted, and is perfectly happy stretching out on the sofa beside you and soaking up all the love she can get. She also enjoys going for walks and spending time with her people. She has a gentle, loving side and does well with children. Mercys story began in a warehouse, where she was found doing everything she could to care for her six newborn puppies. This little mama weighed only about 30 pounds herself, but she kept her babies safe until help finally arrived. When we learned about Mercy and her puppies, we brought the entire family into our rescue and promised that their lives were about to change. Her puppies were born around May 23, and one by one they have gone off to start their new lives. Only her son Marley is still waiting for his family—and so is Mercy. Mercy has done her job. She raised her babies, kept them safe, and watched them leave for homes of their own. Now we want someone to choose her. Mercy would be happiest in a home where she can enjoy plenty of attention and be the center of her familys world. She is not a match for a home with cats. She doesnt need anything fancy. Give this girl a comfortable sofa, some nice walks, plenty of pets, and people who will love her for the rest of her life, and Mercy will be one happy girl. After everything she has done for her babies, Mercy deserves her happily ever after, too. If you think you could be the family Mercy has been waiting for, submit your adoption application today. Here's the adoption application, please copy & paste. https://forms.gle/FmtRtYxQNnemdkdw9 Paws of Dixie Animal Rescue adopts local and in the New England area. Our adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, up to date shots, Microchip, Alabama Health Certificate, and the transport service to get the new family pet to you.
