There are five adorable puppies in our Primrose litter of 10 week old orphans that have just joined our Connecticut Rescue: Claudia, Eliza, Marius, Primrose and Rayne. All the pups in this litter have gentle temperaments and playful, friendly personalities. Despite the chaotic shelter process, these pups have weathered the storm and show no obvious signs of trauma or neglect.  It appears that the pups’ owner unwittingly facilitated an accidental breeding of unaltered adult housemates and then was overwhelmed by puppy love. She offloaded the puppies to a high kill rural North Carolina Shelter, and we were able to transport them to our place in Canterbury, Connecticut.  We have had the puppies DNA tested, and they are a diverse mix of breeds,but 56% of that mix is Collie. The weight range is projected at 40 to 60 pounds, and their working roots suggest that adopters should be prepared to provide a lot of exercise and mental stimulation.  Any of these pups would be an excellent choice for a savvy Working Breed adopter, willing to commit to ongoing training and socialization. They have taken well to basic puppy Positive Reinforcement training techniques and seem to enjoy the learning process. We seek adopters willing to raise them as Canine Good Citizens.  All of these pups could easily join multi-dog homes with older, playful dogs, tolerant of puppy energy. This is Ruthie May, an Australian Cattle Dog mix born in Arkansas. This sweet-natured girl loves her humans like no other and will suit well in a home where she can get unconditional love and affection. Over the past 4 years with Ruthie May we have learned that she is her best self when surrounded by humans. She will quickly come to you and grab your hands for pets and her favorite, belly rubs. Ruthie needs to be in an only dog household as she gets anxious around other dogs. My husband and I’s financial situation has changed and unfortunately we can no longer take care of her in the capacity that she deserves. She truly is the sweetest dog and we are so sad to be considering rehoming her. If you love a sweet natured and affectionate dog who both loves to play and cuddle on the couch, Ruthie May is your girl.
