Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Raine's mom entrusted him to our care, after realizing her housing issues would be an issue for her dog. Raine headed to Seven Hills Wellness this morning for a rabies shot, and we learned he is talented at getting in and out of a vehicle, adores Chik Fil A, and knew all about getting through doorways with guidance. Vision impaired, with possible hearing loss, he is available for adoption. Best guess as to breed mix: collie/spaniel, 45 pounds, and ten to twelve years old. We will schedule a full exam next week, but for today, our goal was to get him a current rabies shot so he could go to a foster home.   PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 31, 2026, 8:23 pm

Story
We advise all adopters to expect the 3-3-3 rule as a general guideline for introducing a pet to the home: 3 days to decompress (will show nervousness, hiding, reduced appetite), 3 weeks to settle into a routine (beginning to explore and showing personality), and 3 months to build trust and feel fully comfortable in their new home. This period may be longer for shy or extremely scared animals.

Story
At just 8 weeks old, Patsy has already overcome more than any puppy should. Found alone as a stray by animal control, this sweet little Border Collie/Lab mix could have had a very different story — but instead, Patsy has shown everyone around her just how full of love and trust her tiny heart truly is. Patsy is the kind of puppy who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. Her gentle, affectionate personality makes it impossible not to fall in love with her. She loves playing with her foster siblings and learning how much fun it is to just be a puppy. Because she is still so young, Patsy would adapt beautifully to almost any home environment. Whether you are a family with children, another playful dog, or someone looking for a loyal companion to grow with, Patsy is ready to become part of your life and your heart. Like any young puppy, Patsy is still working on her crate and potty training, but she is eager to learn and thrives with patience, love, and consistency. We expect her to grow to around 50 pounds when fully grown. Patsy’s past may have started with uncertainty, but her future deserves to be filled with safety, happiness, and a family who will love her forever. Could that family be yours? Patsy has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated for her current age. Since they are not yet neutered, Patsy is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County. Story
Bunny is a hard pup to decide on breed. We are not at all sure what she is. We are guessing Border Collie/Lab mix? She has a little head and skinny legs. She is very cute and fast. She's approximately 3 months old, and 20 pounds. We're not sure if she will be much bigger than a medium size. She is learning to be crate/potty trained. She still has a few accidents in her kennel. She loves to play and can be little rough with puppies smaller than her. She can be a total love bug once she gets her energy out. We think she's not a good choice for young children, because she does not know personal space. She was picked up as a stray and needs a new start in life. Bedford Humane Society has gotten her up to date medically, including her spay. Bunny has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated, is too young to test for heartworms but has started on heartworm preventatives and on flea/tick preventative. Bunny's microchip will be registered in her new owner's name by BHS. For more information, please visit our website at www.bhsva.org to fill out an adoption application.
