Story
Meet Rusty, a handsome ~3 year old neutered male hound mix, weighing about 65 lbs!  Rusty is a friendly, goofy boy who LOVES people! Because of his size and clumsiness, we recommend older kids 8+, as he may unintentionally knock over a small child. Rusty can do a 1 week foster to adopt trial with an approved adopter so you can see how he settles in before committing to adoption. Rusty has come a long way since his arrival in New England, having initially been severely underweight. But now he's thriving with a full bowl of food, a warm bed, and gentle care. He has blossomed in his foster home, learning to play, cuddle, and trust. Rusty adores his foster family and loves snuggling on the couch - his favorite pastime! Rusty generally gets along with more laid back/submissive dogs after a proper intro, and he prefers female dogs. However, he is dog selective and can be a bit of an attention hog, so we feel he would do best as the only dog in the home. Also no cats for this boy, as he may confuse them for a tasty snack .  We realize this is a tall order, but Rusty is SUCH a sweet boy, we hope that you will fall in love with him and happily devote all of your attention to him! He really does deserve it, especially since he has spent the better part of his life not knowing what it feels like to be loved. Rusty is medically up to date and housebroken. Apply today to meet this special boy and give him the happily ever after he deserves! Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2553249##

Story
Pedro is a sweet, happy young pup with a loving heart and an easy smile. At 6 months old, he’s at that wonderful age where he’s curious about the world, eager to learn, and ready to form a deep bond with his forever family. Pedro came to our Connecticut rescue from North Carolina through one of our trusted rescue partners. He is one of an 8 puppy litter surrendered to a shelter when their owner could no longer care for them. Despite his early start, Pedro has grown into a friendly, affectionate boy who greets each day with optimism and trust. Pedro’s DNA testing shows a beautiful blend of breeds. He is a mix of Doberman and three classic hounds: Redbone Coonhound, Treeing Walker Coonhound and Bluetick Coonhounds. This unique combination gives Pedro a wonderful mix of intelligence, loyalty, and that signature hound sweetness. He will be a large dog, about 60 lbs adult weight. Pedro is great with children and has a gentle, friendly nature. He does very well with other dogs and enjoys both playtime and relaxed companionship. Pedro tends to be easygoing and adaptable — happy to join in the fun but just as content settling in for quiet time with his people. His hound side loves to explore and take in new scents, while his Doberman heritage shines through in his attentiveness and desire to be close to his humans. Pedro is affectionate, people-oriented, and eager to be included as a true member of the family. Pedro is ready for a forever home where he’ll be loved, guided, and cherished for a lifetime. If you’re looking for a young dog with a kind heart and an easygoing personality, Pedro could be your perfect match.

Story
Lex is a sweet, laid-back young guy with a calm presence and a heart full of love. At 6 months old, he’s already showing signs of being the kind of dog who will happily fit into just about any loving home. Lex joined our Connecticut rescue from North Carolina through one of our trusted rescue partners. He is one of an 8 puppy litter surrendered to a shelter when their owner could no longer care for them. Despite the uncertainty of his early start, Lex has remained gentle, steady, and affectionate. Lex is a great mix of brains and heart. His DNA testing shows a blend of Doberman with three hound breeds: Redbone Coonhound, Treeing Walker Coonhound, and Bluetick Coonhound. This mix gives Lex a wonderful balance of intelligence, loyalty, and easygoing hound charm. He will be a large dog, about 60 pounds adult weight. Lex is great with children and has a naturally patient, tolerant nature. He does very well with other dogs and tends to enjoy relaxed play, companionship, and being part of a peaceful pack. Compared to his sisters, Lex is a bit more chill and thoughtful, often content to observe before jumping into the fun. His hound side enjoys exploring at a comfortable pace, while his Doberman heritage shows in his attentiveness and strong bond with people. Lex loves affection, enjoys being near his humans, and is the type of pup who will happily settle in for cuddles after a walk. Lex is looking for a forever home where he can grow at his own pace, surrounded by patience, kindness, and love. If you’re searching for a young dog with a mellow personality and a devoted heart, Lex may be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Meet Sophie: A 2–3 Year-Old Mix Looking for a Forever Home-we’re not sure the mix, but one vet thought Coonhound. We were guessing Mastiff, but she isn’t huge though. Maybe when all filled in, 80-85 lbs. Sophie is a courageous and affectionate dog who recently traveled from Texas to find her. Age/Breed:** 2–3 years old Location:** Bozrah, CT History:** Has undergone heartworm treatment and completed obedience training Personality:** Sweet, eager to please, and full of potential with the right guidance What Sophie Needs in a Home Large-breed experienced adopter: ** Understanding decompression and how to work with a rescued dog helps set them up for success with their new family Kids: Sophie is really good with the children in her foster home (ages 9 and 11). Note: Any new dog should have supervised introductions with kids in the home. Other dogs:** Gets along with larger dogs with proper introductions. This standard applies to every adopted dog. We do not recommended cats or small dogs for Sophie. Intro/Decompression:** A patient, slow-introductions approach will bring out the best in Sophie. Important Notes Protections and patience are key. Following a decompression plan will help Sophie settle into her new routine and become the best dog in your home.
