Story
Beulah is a shy beauty who joined our rescue a few months ago. She was found with her sister, Butterscotch, as country strays in rural North Carolina. Animal Control Officers corralled the girls and brought them to the overcrowded County Shelter, where they were about to be euthanized. Shelter workers worked frantically to get them transferred to our Rescue before their time was up. Beulah seemed shy and often tried to hide behind Butterscotch. She seemed nervous on the trip north to Connecticut. Once here, she came out of her shell nicely, and has become extremely affectionate, and would make an outstanding family dog. Beulah loves people, but will need a bit of time to warm up. She could easily live happily with older kids, who have been taught to treat dogs gently. Beuhla is a small dog at just 30 pounds. She is active, but does not have an over-the-top energy level. She requires a couple of leisurely, "smell the roses" daily walks, but then is content to rest or take a nap. She would do well in a family setting, or with a single, or retired folks. Beulah will be happy as long as she is loved. Beulah loves other dogs and has become extremely social in our small dog playgroup. She easily could join a multi-dog home with other friendly dogs, and could co-exist with cats. Beulah is a small Hound mix, perhaps Redbone Coonhound and a smidge of Beagle to explain the small stature. As a scent Hound, her instincts are a mixed bag of gun dog attributes. Her ideal adopter would be an active single or couple, who can include her on hikes, runs, or walks, camping, or any kind of outdoors activity that will challenge mind and body. Beulah has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She has been spayed, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. If you are interested in Beulah, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com or call or text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: 5-6 years old (As of 11/11/25) Weight:  65 lbs. (As of 11/11/25) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Kross! Kross is an affectionate, intelligent, and gentle adult who is eager to please. The transition North has been tough on him and he is slowly settling in. He is looking for a calm household to help him decompress. He’s a good boy—goofy, quiet, resilient, and independent. With his calm disposition, he picks up cues easily.  Kross prefers a predictable routine and once he has that he is a lovely house guest.   He is left alone in the crate for several hours.  He enjoys quiet walks and play time with toys.  Kross is not currently living with children, but with visiting kids he has been tolerant, unengaged, playful, and responsive to corrections. He would likely do best with older children (7+) rather than small toddlers. If you have a cat or small animal, Kross is tolerant and respectful—he simply ignores them and doesn’t mind their presence. He’s fully potty trained and will let you know when he needs to go out and when he’s ready to come back inside.   Like any rescue dog, Kross will need a little time to adjust in his forever home—but once he settles in, he’ll quickly learn the routine and show you what a wonderful companion he truly is. Kross's Story: His previous owners separated and the new landlords did not allow dogs.  An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 24, 2025, 10:02 am

Story
Meet Macie – The Sweetest Hound! Macie is an absolute sweetheart with a heart full of love! She was found as a stray by her loving foster mom. She’s the ultimate cuddler and prefers to be right beside you. This loving girl adores everyone she meets, including small children, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She hasn’t been tested with cats yet. Like a true hound, she has an incredible nose and a signature howl. She’s very curious about the outside world, so a secure yard or leash walks will be best for her. Macie is a dream in the car and is working on her leash manners. Her favorite things include belly rubs, snuggles, and spreading love to everyone she meets. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a true hound spirit, Macie is your girl! Story
Meet Puddin’ — a gentle giant who has been known to lick his dinner bowl clean and then fall asleep in it.  Puddin’ is one of mama Sweet Pea’s 11 puppies!  Sweet Pea was dumped at a church in rural Alabama and developed a relationship with the kids nearby. When it became clear that she was pregnant, one family took Sweet Pea home and gave her a safe place to have her babies. The puppies were born October 20 and have known nothing but safety and love ever since. Puddin’ is a cuddly boy whose adorable body rolls reflect his love of food. He’s completely unflappable unless he’s hungry. He even enjoys a bath — no complaining. Puddin’ is a social butterfly and loves meeting new people and new dogs.  Puddin’ is one of the bigger boys from his litter and will likely be a sizable dog when full grown. He’s working on crate training and potty training in his foster home, but his forever family will have more work to do since Puddin’ is just shy of two months old (as of mid December). Adopt him today and experience all the wonders of puppyhood!
