Story
Narwhal is an eight month old Coonhound mix who currently comes in at about 41 pounds. He is a high energy guy who loves to play and be a rough and tumble puppy. He does know a good amount of commands already and is loyal to those he trusts. He does love to play games, however, and test to see what he can get away with. He's very friendly and has no issues coming up to strangers, though be warned he is an enthusiastic greeter. He's a relatively heavy puller on the leash, so we'd advise leash training and to stay far away from retractable leashes. Handling hasn't shown any issues, and we haven't seen any aggression with food, high value treats, or toys. He is a play growler when it comes to tug toys, but that's just from the excitement of getting some energy out! For Narwhal, he's another we'd see prospering with an active family. With this much energy, and having the predominant breed be one used for hunting, he's going to be a dog that needs exercise and stimulation. A nice, open backyard or frequent trips to beaches, fields, and hiking trails would be the ideal environment for this pup! Any potential homes we'd ask for no children and no cats, dogs we've yet to test but will update when we do! He'll come neutered, microchipped, with his Rabies and distemper vaccines, a heartworm test, his heartworm preventative, and his flea and tick for the month. Before making an appointment, we ask that you fill out an application ahead of time. If you're already approved with us, however, don't hesitate to call and make an appointment to meet Narwhal today! As he will be meeting multiple families as the applications come in, please don't expect to walk out with him same day. We operate off of best fit for our animals vs. first come first served. Thank you for understanding!

Story
Our Zelda is a stunning English Coonhound who was found by county Animal Control Officers in rural Virginia, and was then brought to the local shelter. When Zelda arrived at our Connecticut Rescue, she was a bit anxious, but WOW has she blossomed. Now one year old, Zelda needs a quiet home of her own with adults who can offer her an active lifestyle. Zelda is not the kind of dog who can be relegated to the backyard alone. She craves human connection and one-to-one companionship.  Zelda loves all people and some other well-mannered dogs, but we have not had her around cats. She is a medium sized girl at 50 pounds and is moderately active. She loves a spirited leash walk but then, like most Hounds, knows when to slow down to smell the roses.  Zelda knows most basic commands and is easy to handle. She has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. Zelda is in great health, has been spayed, and has received routine vaccinations and health screenings. She has been dewormed, microchipped and is on preventatives for Heartworm and Flea/Tick. If you are interested Zelda, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or text Denise at 860-908-9738 for more info.
