Story
Hi, I'm Flossy! I was rescued in TN. I am a super sweet girl who is looking for my forever home. I'm up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. I'd love to go on hikes or hang out on the couch for a good snuggle. I'm good with other dogs and kids. I'm still in TN, but can be transported to an approved foster or adopter. I hope to meet you soon!

Story
Jackson is a six-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound whose owner passed away last year. Jackson is a sensitive soul, afraid of new people and nervous in unfamiliar environments, and needs a dog-savvy, patient, loving person to show him that the world isn't such a scary place. Since the death of his person in September 2022, Jackson has been slowly learning to trust. He currently has a circle of four human friends whom he adores but is still skeptical of anyone new. We are working with a fear-free, positive-reinforcement-based behavioral trainer and would ask that any foster/adopter continue with these Zoom sessions (at our expense). Jackson needs a quiet home with no small children. He is afraid of new people (men more than women) but really blossoms around dogs, so a home with a calm, confident dog would be ideal. He is much more comfortable with people if a dog is around. He has not met cats, but he shows absolutely no interest in critters of any kind, so he could likely live with cats with appropriate testing. His ideal foster/adopter would be gentle and patient, letting Jackson go at his pace (that is how he thrives; forcing contact scares him away). He currently lives in the country with a large fenced-in yard, and he loves spending a lot of time outside, but he has visited Chicago and did very well with city sights and sounds. With enough walks and mental enrichment, city living should be fine. However, he does bark/bay a lot, as Coonhounds do, so apartment living might be tough. We understand this is a tall order, but Jackson is a sensitive, fearful dog. If you are the unicorn who can let him come out of his shell at his own pace, who can provide him with the love and security he needs, who can help him conquer his stranger danger, let us know. Jackson's adoption fee is sponsored. In addition, the daughter of his deceased guardian is committed to financially supporting Jackson and has offered to pay for the following: ongoing positive-reinforcement/force-free training ongoing treatment with a board-certified veterinary behaviorist (Insight Animal for Chicago-area folks) Jackson's behavior medicine for life

Story
This handsome fella is COWBOY, a 3 year old Redtick Coonhound who weighs between 46-50 pounds. Cowboy is super sweet and absolutely loves people. He is not your typical hound; he does not hunt and does not bark much - just does some typical barking when someone comes to the door or if there is something in the yard; he can be easily commanded to stop. Cowboy is a great dog and housebroken, gets along well with smaller dogs but can be dog selective with large dogs. He gets attached to his humans very quickly and is very loyal. He would do best in a home where people are home more than not. He does not like to be crated and is very well behaved when allowed to roam freely when people are not home. Cowboy would do best with a fenced in yard.  This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, been provided inoculations, tested for disease and parasites, neutered, and microchipped. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST FROM acaringplace@comcast.net.  Online application not working properly-do not use. A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area. All dogs and puppies live in foster homes, providing you as the adopter, with information on the animal's behaviors, needs, and requirements. We are always in search of fosters care providers. If you are one of those special people willing to open your heart and home to an animal in need and would like to receive information on how you can foster an animal, please contact us.     September 19, 2023, 3:49 am
