Story
Will you be my best friend? I am a 3 year old, 55 pound, Treeing Walker Coonhound. I am house trained and use a doggy door when needed. I am not a fan of outside when it is storming, so you may have to nudge me out to go. I know “sit” and am trying to learn “stay”. Like most hound dogs, I do have a stubborn streak, but I will do anything for treats! I spend the day sleeping on my human’s office floor while she works or quietly in my open crate in the bedroom. At night, I will go in crate easily and sleep all night. I do prefer to be in the same room with my human when locked in the crate, but I am getting better at being alone! I enjoy walking on a leash. I am mostly polite with a harness, but will pull in a traditional collar. I get along with other dogs. I am not sure about how I feel about cats. I did meet one the other day at my vet check and I did not react to it pawing at my nose, but a more thorough meeting would be helpful. I am hesitant towards men at first, but will warm up when they are patient. I am still learning how to just be a dog. I will occasionally chase a toy or other dogs at the dog park, but seem to get bored with playtime pretty quickly. My dream home would be a yard where I can roam and a human I can hang out with most of the day. If you think you could be my best friend please fill out an adoption application www.rescueahart.org!

Story
Find a Penny, pick it up, then all day you'll have good luck! Penny is a 3.5 year old 60lb Coonhound mix who is ready to start her life as your new best friend. She is just the sweetest, tallest, and prettiest girl. Penny didn't have the best life before rescue- she lived outside on a chain, emaciated and scarred. Despite that, she's sweet as can be and just wants to make you happy. Penny loves smelling smells and chasing critters, so she would love a fenced yard to run all around. Penny enjoys daily walks with her humans followed by lap-dog duties. She tries relentlessly to get her foster siblings to play and would love another dog to play with to show her the ropes and prove that people aren't all bad. Penny will need slow introductions to others and the world around her. She is afraid of sudden movements, loud noises, and prefers women over men. But once she gets comfortable, she's all-in. Penny is making strides with her house training and crate training. She's a typical hound dog that will follow her nose and is very curious about everything that comes with living in a house. She asks that you please be patient with her while she learns the ropes. This pretty Penny is ready to shine! Her adoption fee is $275. To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Hugging HANK HILL is back with the rescue and looking for a new home. Unfortunately he wasn't a good fit for his adopter's home. Hank is a drop dead gorgeous Coonhound mix with long velvety ears and a wonderful disposition. Hank Hill loves food, toys and most of all people. He loves everyone and wants to hug everyone he meets. Hank Hill is about 5 years old and fully grown at 52 pounds. He's dog friendly and housebroken. He loves to romp around in the yard. He's best suited to a home with a physically-fenced yard. If you'd like to meet Hank Hill, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter or you can meet him at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-3 at PetSmart Eastgate.   All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee. Story
Rudolph (knows Rudy) is still on the hunt for his forever home.  This hunky blue eyed hound is doing pretty well with most things. Totally potty & crate trained.  Knows basic commands.  His hiccup is other dogs when on a leash. We keep getting out there and practicing but I think a fenced yard will be best.  He is an active player with my resident dog and think another dog gives him confidence but would probably need to be a slower introduction. He has never had issues in our home with food (although he knows how to open a storage container)bones, toys (&#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143) or my dog.  June 9, 2023, 2:52 pm
