She’s relaxed on walks, easy to handle, and a good fit for a first time adopter.Quick FactsBreed: Mixed breed · Sex: Female · Born: April 2023 · Weight: 13 kg · Location: Korea · Traits: Calm, affectionate, patient · Health: Spayed, vaccinated, healthyBackgroundIn March 2025, Jigu was rescued from a city pound in Gongju, Korea. She was a little shy at first, but after just a day or two, she warmed up. In the beginning, she was more comfortable with women and a bit wary of one of the men on staff, but now she happily greets everyone. Since her rescue, she’s been living with other dogs at our partner shelter.PersonalityJigu is a calm, easygoing girl with a lot of patience. She loves attention, cuddles, and treats. Whenever someone sits down, she comes over to ask for a pet, and she’s very good at finding a way through the other dogs to get there. When someone comes to see her in the morning, she greets them with a few happy barks. Her energy level is moderate. When she meets someone or something new, she takes a look first and then walks over. When she’s on her own, she mostly sleeps.CompatibilityJigu gets along with both men and women, though she does seem to prefer women. She has met children around 10 years old and stayed calm and relaxed around them. As with any dog, introductions should be supervised, and parents should take full responsibility for teaching both their children and their dog how to interact safely. She loves being hugged, petted, and fussed over, and there’s no spot on her body she minds being touched.Jigu gets along well with most dogs, except for very high energy ones. She enjoys running and playing with polite, well mannered friends. She’s fine around food with one or two dogs, but when treats are handed out in a big group, she can get a little protective, so it’s best to give her treats separately.Jigu hasn’t lived with cats before, so we can’t say for certain how she’d do. If you have cats, it’s important that you have experience introducing cats to dogs and that your home has enough space to keep them separate while they get used to each other.Behaviours & TrainingJigu does her business outdoors mostly. She walks well on a leash and harness and doesn’t react to other dogs, cars, or motorbikes. She stays calm in the car and is well behaved at the vet. She does well with baths, brushing, and nail trims. She doesn’t chew things she shouldn’t. She may bark briefly when something is new to her, but she settles quickly. She hasn’t shown any real signs of separation anxiety. She comes when her name is called and knows “sit.”Health & DietJigu is spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. She takes monthly parasite preventatives. She has heterochromia, which means her eyes are two different colours. It’s part of what makes her face so special, and it hasn’t caused her any problems. She has no known allergies and no history of surgeries or treatments. Her teeth are fairly clean, and she’s scheduled for a dental scaling. She has passed the veterinary screening and is healthy and ready for a forever home.She eats kibble twice a day and has not shown any food allergies or sensitivities so far. She’s a good eater and enjoys whatever she’s given.Ideal HomeJigu would do best as the only dog in a calm, quiet home, or with a gentle, laid back dog who’s happy to let her be. She isn’t a demanding dog and has been easy to care for. An adopter with some dog experience and plenty of patience would be a great match. Give her a little space to come to you in her own time, and she’ll settle in well.Jigu is a sweet, patient girl with a big love for cuddles. Jigu doesn’t ask for much. A quiet spot to nap, a few treats, and someone who’s happy to sit with her for a while. In return, she’ll be a calm, gentle presence by your side at the end of every day.
