Meet Pequinés Playful When It’s Time for Fun, Mellow When It’s Time to Relax Breed: Coton de Tulear / Terrier Mix Gender: Male | Age: 09/15/2024 | Weight: 18 lbs (small) Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Kids ✔️ | Cats: Unknown Personality: Playful | Mellow | ❤️ Affectionate | Friendly Medical: ✔️ Neutered | ✔️ Vaccinations Up to Date Location: Los Angeles, California Transportation: Ozzie and Friends Rescue coordinates safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. ❤️ Personality & Breed Information Pequinés is an adorable 2-year-old Coton de Tulear / Terrier mix weighing approximately 18 pounds. He has a wonderful balance to his personality—playful when it’s time to have fun and mellow when it’s time to relax. Pequinés is a friendly little guy who can enjoy walks, playtime, outings, and adventures but is also happy to slow things down and enjoy quieter time with his family. At two years old, he’s a young adult with plenty of playful energy without the constant demands of a tiny puppy. The Coton de Tulear is known for being a cheerful, affectionate companion breed. Cotons may be social, playful, intelligent, charming, and deeply attached to their people. They often enjoy being close to their families and participating in everyday activities. His Terrier side may add curiosity, confidence, playfulness, alertness, and a little extra spark to his personality. Together, this combination can make for a fun companion who enjoys activity but also values affection and time spent with his people. Pequinés would benefit from: Daily walks and regular exercise Playtime and interactive toys Mental stimulation and enrichment Positive-reinforcement training Consistent household routines Continued socialization Plenty of affection and companionship His smaller 18-pound size makes him a convenient companion, but he still needs the same training, exercise, veterinary care, and lifelong commitment as any other dog. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Pequinés' playful yet mellow personality gives him a nice balance, but every rescue dog needs time to understand a new home. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so his adopter should be prepared to continue working on leash manners, basic commands, recall, household boundaries, calm greetings, and house training as needed. Positive-reinforcement training will help Pequinés learn what is expected while strengthening his relationship with his new family. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand his new household routine 3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home Give Pequinés patience and consistency while he learns that his new home is truly his home. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Pequinés is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. His future family should continue providing routine veterinary wellness examinations, recommended vaccine boosters, flea/tick/heartworm and parasite prevention, dental care, quality nutrition, healthy weight management, grooming and nail care, appropriate daily exercise, and veterinary treatment whenever needed. Keeping him physically healthy is only part of the commitment. Regular companionship, enrichment, training, affection, and a stable routine are equally important to his long-term happiness. Adoption Information If you are interested in adopting Pequinés, please complete an adoption application at: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Ozzie and Friends Rescue is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs in need and helping them find safe, loving forever homes. While based in Southern California, we coordinate safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States. Adopting Pequinés means committing to his health, training, safety, companionship, and happiness throughout his life. Pequinés gives you a little bit of everything—playful when you're ready to have fun and mellow when it's time to settle in together. At just 18 pounds, he's a little guy ready to take up a very big place in someone's life. Now he just needs the family who will make that place permanent.September 15, 2026, 10:50 am

Story
Hi! My name is Sammie and I am a sweet 4-5 year old 12 pound Shih Tzu. I was found in need of some help with my overgrown, flea-invested coat. Once I got all cleaned up, my confidence came back!Listen, I fell on some hard times so my trust in humans is sometimes a little shaky. However, if you give me a little time and treats, I will most likely let you into my inner circle. Once there you are locked in for life. My favorite thing to do is sit and cuddle with members of my inner circle. I can lounge all day! However, if you want to get up and go we can do that too. I am an excellent car rider and walk well on my leash. As long as I am with my people I am happy! My second favorite thing to do is play with toys and my foster siblings. I may not be a spring chicken, but I can still be as playful as a puppy! I like all my foster siblings–other dogs, cats, and the humans too.I am looking for a family who will be patient and give me the time to warm up. I am also a little high maintenance and will need regular grooming–it takes a lot to look so handsome! If you think you might be the right family for me go ahead and fill out an app and let’s meet!
