Story

Here is a boy with quite a story. Budd is a 3-year-old Dachshund mix weighing 30 pounds. He came to us having been saved from euthanasia. You see, his hind legs were paralyzed and not everyone thought he could have a good life this way. Well, we in rescue have other ideas! In fact, weâÂÂve been working with him and Budd has made a lot of progress that his foster would be happy to tell you about. But Budd is more than a guy with special needs. HeâÂÂs a regular fella, too! HeâÂÂs good with dogs of all sizes, loves dog beds and chew bones and is a boy with high energy! The most wonderful thing about Budd is that heâÂÂs always happy! You will be, too, if you make him yours! (posted 9/11/26, ME) ' 'Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $170.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **October 1, 2026, 4:46 pm

Story

Meet Mater! 🐾 Mater is an adorable 3-month-old Dachshund mix weighing around 12 pounds. He’s a sweet, happy, playful little guy with lots of puppy energy and a personality that will keep you smiling. Mater’s journey into rescue happened completely by chance. His foster mom stopped at a little roadside produce stand to pick up some tomatoes, and there he was. They needed someone who could take him, and one look at that sweet little face was all it took. He came home with her that day, and since a stop for tomatoes brought them together, the name “Mater” seemed pretty perfect! 🍅❤️ Mater is now settling into foster life and doing great. He gets along well with other dogs and is also good with cats. He is very playful and loves having four-legged friends around, although he’s still learning his puppy manners and may enthusiastically invite everyone to join in the fun! Like any 3-month-old puppy, Mater is still teething, so he’s learning what is and isn’t appropriate to chew on. He’s also off to a great start with house training and is making good progress as he settles into a routine. Mater loves to play, explore, and be part of whatever is going on around him. He’s curious, affectionate, and still discovering just how much fun life can be. He’ll need a family who understands that he’s still a puppy and is ready to continue helping him learn and grow with patience, consistency, and lots of love. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful little sidekick who gets along with dogs and cats and is ready to become part of the family, Mater may be your guy. He’s ready for a forever home filled with adventures, toys, cozy naps, and plenty of love. 🐶🏡❤️

Story

Sparky is an 8 year old Chi-Wienie that weighs 12 pounds. He lost his home thru no fault of his own. Sparky needs time to warm up to new people. He is friendly and sweet with people he knows, but might hide from those he doesn't know yet. He is potty pad trained and crate trained. Sparky loves to sleep covered up in a blanket and rolled up like a burrito. This boy is a silly, funny little clown, that needs a quiet home without a lot of noise. An older person would be preferred. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm and flea preventives. Sparky's adoption fee is a donation to the rescue in the amount of $300.September 25, 2026, 12:02 am

Story

Blacky is a sweet shy boy at first. He is playful and warms up once he knows you are someone he can trust. Would make a great running buddy. He comes from the same horrible hoarder situation and had to fight for food so he is still reactive to other dogs at feeding time. We think that he would do best as an only pet or with a female doggie home.

Story

Hank is a sweet and gentle little guy, and although he seems to be mostly blind, he has no trouble snuggling up and soaking up the attention! He loves exploring and going for walks too! He's a bit overweight right now, but a good healthy diet will have him slimmed down in no time. Hank has been with his friend Hendrix who is also at the Ark, and it would be great if they are adopted together, but as we've gotten to know them both we're sure they'll do just fine if they go to separate homes! ** Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. We do require a secure fenced-in yard to adopt our larger dogs.
