Story
Meet Winnie, a spirited 2-to-3-year-old Dachshund mix who is ready to bring a mountain of personality into her forever home. Winnie is truly a "mountain goat" in a small package. She is incredibly energetic, agile, and loves to explore the world on her daily walks. When she isn’t keeping the small wildlife out of the backyard or patrolling the neighborhood, she is a dreaming of her next adventure. At night, she burrows deep under the covers to find the warmest spot in your bed. While Winnie is a sweet soul and gets along with other dogs, she is looking for a home where she can be the only dog. Due to her guarding behavior when she finds human food on the floor, she requires a home without young children. Winnie is perfectly fine sharing her space with feline friends. Winnie’s Ideal Home: Prefered to be the only dog: reactive to other dogs if human food is on the ground, (cats are okay!). Adults and older children: A quiet home without young children due to her reactive behavior with human food on the floor. Active Lifestyle: Someone who loves long walks and high-energy play. Winnie is being fostered in Madison, AL. We are looking for local adopters only. If you would like to learn more about Winnie, please fill out an adoption application at forrescue.net

Story
Oscar is the whole package, potty trained, well behaved, sweet as sugar, playful, crate trained, house trained, handsome, loving and adorable, snuggly, you name it, this guy has it all wrapped up in a lowrider body. I'm having a hard time even thinking of letting him go to somebody else so you have to be pretty perfect, like him, for me to approve your application. A couple of German Shepherds tried to eat his head, so he looks like Stripe from the show The Gremlins, with his scars on his poor head and he doesn't like large dogs because of it. He is also afraid of cats and will bark at them. He needs a buddy his size (He's about 20 lb) to rough house and play with, to run around with in a securely fence yard and in the house where they can have squeaky toys and bones. He would love someone home most of the time, but he is perfectly content in a plastic crate, he prefers that to a metal one and will not settle in a dog bed at night, he will go to the plastic crate instead. I've taught him to wait at the top of the stairs and the bottom of the stairs until I have ascended or descended and then he can do the same but only after me. I've also taught him to ring the bell to go out and he absolutely loves to be outside, just looking around. When he lets you know he needs to go outside to potty, you best let him out right then! I'm teaching him to sit and wait when I open a door before he goes outside for safety reasons. He's great on a leash and loves to ride in a car, safely buckled into his harness. **He is absolutely terrified of fireworks and loud noises outside** So he has to have melatonin or trazodone when there are going to be fireworks!!!He is neutered, microchipped, has had his rabies, Bordetella, distempor-parvo booster, dewormed, heartworm negative and unprevention. Apply for this perfect gentleman online at MadisonARF.orgHis adoption fee is $200

Story
Blacky is a sweet shy boy at first. He is playful and warms up once he knows you are someone he can trust. Would make a great running buddy. He comes from the same horrible hoarder situation and had to fight for food so he is still reactive to other dogs at feeding time. We think that he would do best as an only pet or with a female doggie home.
