MEET CRAIG - This sweet, gentle and quiet 10-year-old Dachshund mix was saved from a California shelter, and was so very thin when rescued. But now he's at a healthy weight and looks great! Dogs don't come any sweeter than Craig, who is loving, easygoing and just a joy to have around. Craig will make a wonderful companion for someone who has a peaceful and quiet home. He deserves to be pampered after all he's been through. He's loves other dogs, too. Craig weighs about 17 lbs. and is currently in a foster home near Ventura. He will be losing his foster home in mid-October. Please email for an application.

Meet Roscoe! This 7 year old was very fearful for his first few months in the shelter, but has come so far. He still takes time to warm up to new friends, but is always happy to play outside his kennel. Roscoe will chase after plushies all day long. He`s looking for a home with an experienced adopter familiar with earning the trust of nervous pup. @vcanimalservices AMAZING PROGRESS - but Roscoe still needs an adopter after 6 months in shelter. This boy was once so fearful of dogs and people that he spent most of his time in a kennel covered with a blanket to reduce stress. Though he still needs time to warm up to new people, Roscoe is making more and more friends! He’s proving to be playful and loves toys. Though he has struggled with touch, he is even starting to warm up to belly rubs. ?? This plea is for a rescue group or patient individual with no children or pets. Meet Kkami!  He is soo precious! He is a 6 year old that was rescued from a breeding farm before heading to a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horrific puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Many restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Kkami and some of his friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app October 4, 2024, 4:23 pm
