Story
We're looking for the perfect forever home for Chloe. Chloe belonged to my 82-year-old grandmother, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Our household is at the maximum number of pets allowed where we live. Chloe is an **7-8 year-old Dachshund mix**. Don't let her age fool you—she is healthy, full of energy, and still loves to play and go for walks! Chloe would do best in a home with adults or families with older, respectful children. Like many dogs, she can become protective of her bones or favorite toys. However, Chloe has a wonderful temperament. She is a calm, loving dog who enjoys being near her family. She gets along well with other cats and dogs. She is kennel trained and content to sleep in her kennel at night.

Story
Meet Mara (red) & Emily (black & tan); aka Ginger & MaryAnn, lol.  These bonded sisters are 12 years old & the sweetest pair ever!  They are on the smaller size, weighing in at about 11 pounds each, are up-to-date on their shots & are spayed. Both are potty trained as long as taken out regularly.  They are crate trained & sleep the night thru together.  They get along with other small dogs, not sure about cats or large dogs.  Both are a little shy at first, but warm up to new people very quickly.  Mara & Emily do well on a leash and enjoy lizard hunting in the backyard or sitting in the sun like most doxies. Mara is a bit more special needs and has IVDD, so she gets a monthly Librella injection at the vet which keeps her mobile.  She gets around on her own & does not need any help pottying.  Mara doesn’t do stairs but has learned to use a dog ramp to get to her favorite spot on the couch. They both had horrible dental disease, so DARE recently had dentals done; Emily lost all her teeth & Mara still has about 4 remaining.  Therefore, they are on soft foods. They love snuggling together when they are not snuggling on the coach with their person.  These two gals are very low key & easy going girls who would do best in a quiet home. Mara & Emily MUST stay together & are being fostered in Orlando but travel very well in a car.  If you think these two would make a good addition to your family, please fill out an adoption application & put their names on it. ♥ If you know I'm your forever pup, fill out an adoption application at daretorescue.org/adoption-application — and don't forget to put my name on your application! Story
Hi, I'm Indie — I'm still brand new to this whole family thing, so I'm keeping my cards close for now. I like my kennel at night (haven't worked up the courage to try the big bed yet), I love exploring, I never say no to a meal, and apparently I snore like a champion. Snuggles? Yes please — once I trust you. I just need someone willing to earn that trust at my pace. My Ideal Home A calm, patient home with a securely fenced yard — non-negotiable for me right now. I do great with other dogs, cats, men, and women, so I don't need to be an only pet. I just need a family who understands that 'shy' means slow and steady wins the race. A Few Important Things to Know - Extremely shy & skittish: I'm a former breeder dog and still very new to home life. I startle easily and would be very hard to catch if I got loose — a fenced yard isn't optional, it's essential for my safety. - Still building trust: I'm honestly still figuring out what normal dog life even looks like. I'll need a patient adopter who lets me come out of my shell on my own timeline, not theirs. What I Bring to the Table I'm small, sweet, and worth the wait. Underneath the shyness is a snuggly, food-loving little guy who just hasn't had the chance to feel safe yet. Give me time, a secure yard, and a soft spot on the couch, and I'll show you exactly how much love I've got tucked away. I'm looking for the person patient enough to help me become the dog I'm meant to be.Click here to watch a video of Indie. Story
Hi, I'm Pebbles! I'm a sweet little red gal who takes life one treat at a time — and trust me, I take my treats very seriously. I'm a bit of a slow burn when it comes to new people, but once you've earned my trust, I'm all in — snuggled up next to my foster dog siblings at bedtime and ready to be your shadow. I've had a rough go of it lately, but I'm tough, I'm healing, and I'm ready to find the people who'll give me the safe, steady life I deserve. My Ideal Home A home with a securely fenced yard is a must for me — I'm a bit of an escape artist and safety comes first. I do great with other dogs, older kids, and both men and women. I'd love a home where I can take my time warming up without being rushed. A Few Important Things to Know I'm an escape risk: I need a fenced yard and careful supervision around gates and doors — I will take the opportunity to explore if given the chance. I'm shy at first: I'm skittish until I get to know you. I do best with a patient adopter who lets me come around on my own time rather than forcing interaction. What I Bring to the Table My foster family says once I trust you, I'm loyal, sweet, and love a good snuggle pile with my dog friends. I just need someone willing to go slow, keep me safe, and let me show them who I really am underneath the shyness. If that's you — I'm worth the wait. Story
Hi, I'm Charlie — I've come out of my shell since arriving at DARE. I've got a great appetite, and I wake up every morning happy and bouncy, ready to run with the pack, chase squirrels, water the field, and investigate every tortoise hole I can find. Not bad for a 13-year-old, if I do say so myself. My Ideal Home Good with kids, cats, small dogs, and everyone in the house — but I do best as an only dog or with small dog/cat companions only, since I'm not great with big dogs. I love sleeping in bed with my people (or in my crate, if that's the house rule), and I'm house-trained, crate-trained, and up for leashed walks with plenty of sniffing. A Few Important Things to Know - Not a fan of big dogs: I do best as the only dog, or alongside small dogs and cats. Big dogs aren't my thing. - Thunderstorm anxiety: Storms make me nervous — a calm, comforting space during bad weather goes a long way with me. What I Bring to the Table I've got morning energy, a zest for squirrel-chasing, and a curiosity about the world that most pups half my age would envy. I'm sweet, I listen well, and I'd be forever grateful to the person who gives me a soft (and adventurous) place to land for my golden years.
