Story
Priss and Marley are a lovely bonded pair looking for their forever home. Marley is 10 years old and is a slender 9 pounds and Priss is 13 years old and is a tiny 7 pound lady. Priss is a submissive sweetie and Marley runs the show! Marley and Priss are loving girls. They love to get and receive cuddles. These two sweethearts get along with other dogs and would do well in a home with respectful children 10 years of age and older. Marley and Priss are both fine with cats, although Marley may bark at them. They are leash trained and will do well with some gentle walks. We do not know or understand when or why, but someone in their past has docked each of their tails by .5 inch. These lovely girls are house trained and crate trained. Like most dachshunds they need to be let outside on a regular basis to ensure there are no accidents. Like all dogs, they will need to be confident in their environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Priss and Marley would love a home where they can sleep in the big bed and have that special loving time with their new family. They are a bit playful but mostly they are calm and cuddly. They spend most of their time together in their foster home in New Mexico. Priss has a bit of a sensitive tummy and her food should be monitored. Priss has some separation anxiety and would love a home where her human would be home most of the time. Marley will eat anything and everything like most dachshunds do! Miss Marley is a talker and will have conversations with you all day long given the opportunity! She loves to be engaged with her person and is a very social girl. These lovely girls are just waiting for their forever family to hold them close! Apply to adopt them today!

Story
Yara, (more white) age 5, and Zuri, (more brown) age 3, are bonded double piebald miniature smooth dachshunds. Tiny girls, Yara weighs about 9 pounds and Zuri weighs about 13 pounds. Yara is completely blind and Zuri has limited vision in one eye and no vision in the other eye. Their vision loss is due to double dapple or double piebald gene. Yara and Zuri are very loving sweethearts who are looking for a home together. The fact that they have vision impairment doesn’t slow them down or diminish their love of life in their foster home in Texas! They are very bonded and always want to be together. They love to play together and will happily spend the entire day together. Yara and Zuri are so bonded that their foster mom in Texas says it is like having just one dog as wherever one goes, the other is right there as well. The two of them do all things together, including eating out of the same bowl! This sweet and loving pair like nothing more than cuddling up with their person. They have not been tested with children and due to their lack of vision we would not recommend them for a home with children under the age of 13 years. They have not been cat tested but do get along with other dogs however due to their lack of vision and small stature we constant supervision would be a must. Yara and Zuri are house trained and crate trained. They love their crate and sleep together in it at night. Yara and Zuri will need time and patience in their new home to become accustomed to where their potty area will be and how to get there. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important, but for these vision impaired sweeties patience and love will be doubly important. Yara and Zuri are not leash trained and quite fearful on the leash. They require a yard with a very secure fence and no pool access (again due to their vision loss ). Their safety must be always a consideration If you are ready to meet the loves of your life please apply to adopt these two little cuddle bugs today. They would love to snuggly up beside you on the couch as soon as possible !

Story
Rascal is a 1 year old, 26 pound dachshund labrador mix looking for a home that will love him forever! Rascal is a very high energy boy who needs a home with time to spend with him every single day. He would like a home where he could have room to run and have walks every day. A fenced yard is a must for Rascal. Rascal loves to run with his ears flapping in the wind and is filled with joy! Rascal loves to play in the water (very un-dachshund of him!). Rascal is very affectionate and thinks he is a tiny little lap dog. He loves to snuggle when he is tired after running and playing. Rascal thinks everyone should love him, including kids, cats and other dogs. Rascal loves children but can be very enthusiastic with his greetings and will gallop up in greeting and sometimes his brakes fail in his excitement! Rascal would do best in a home with children over the age of 9 years. Rascal gets along well with other dogs, however we recommend that he be closely monitored in a home with dogs smaller than he is because he is very exuberant and wants to play with everyone. We do not recommend Rascal to a home with cats for this reason. Rascal is house trained and crated trained. He is a puppy so his new family will need to help him have a regular potty schedule. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important. Rascal is intelligent and has learned 3 commands already in his foster home in Texas. He loves loves loves to go for car rides and wants to sit ‘shot gun’ to have best views! He is curious about every car going by and so interested in the world around him. This happy boy sleeps in his kennel on his blankie at night. Rascal is still a puppy and he’s working on his leash walking. He understands the command SIT and will list to his foster mom when she asks him to do so. Rascal does resource guard his food dish. This fabulous boy is ready for someone to love him! Are you the lucky one to welcome him home? Apply to adopt Rascal today!

Story
Howdy Friend!  I am Peanut. I'm a standard shorthair purebred tan-colored dachshund boy.  My foster mama says I'm a big boy because I weigh 30lbs! I am three years old but still have a puppy-like wonder because I haven't had a chance to experience a lot of the world. Sometimes I get a little nervous and spin in a circle and bark because a lot of things are new to me. My foster mommy sometimes calls me 'Pea-nutty' because I have some quirks. I am not sure about little kids or cats, but I think I would like older kids…maybe a brother or sister doggy to play with. I love my new squeaky toys, running free, wrestling, and playing with my other doggie friends. I got to go swimming the other day. I'm not very good at it yet, but I like it! I have been trying a lot of new foods lately and I love them so much that sometimes I get a little nervous that someone is going to take it away when I'm eating.  I get to sleep in a big warm bed, and I'm learning how to give kisses. I just learned how to cuddle, especially with my foster dad. My new favorite. Can you spend some time with me??? I don't really like kennels. They are scary and lonely.  I know I can be the best doggie if you just give me a chance. If you know that I am your forever pup, please fill out an adoption application at https://daretorescue.org/adoption-application. Don't forget to put my NAME on your application! If you cannot adopt me but would like to help DARE pay for my care before I am adopted by my forever family, donate online at https://daretorescue.org/donation or send a check made payable to DARE to:DAREPO Box 21161Tampa, FL 32210     Even if you do not see a dog that matches what you're looking for, you may fill out a no obligation application at https://daretorescue.org/adoption-application and we will work to find a match for you. We receive dogs into foster care frequently, so it is impossible to have every available or soon-to-be-available dog on the website.February 14, 2024, 3:39 pm

Rex 'The Wonderdog' is such a sweet baby! He is silly and loves his toys. He loves his foster siblings and gets along with other dogs, as long as they are not overwhelming. He loves treats, especially turkey! He also loves cuddles! And we all know there’s nothing better than a cuddly dachshund! We’ve also learned that Rex is very chatty! He loves to tell cars to stay off his street and he is so excited to meet new people he sings when he first meets them! But here is what makes Rex The Wonderdog that he is! Rex’s back legs don’t work. Wait! Don’t “awww” because Rex doesn’t let that slow him down at all! He scoots all over the house, plays with toys & the other pups in his foster home and when he’s in his wheels he runs around and has fun! Rex loves to sleep cuddled in blankets with his humans or other pups in the house. He loves being outside, throwing around his toys, and chest scratches. Rex is ready to find his furever home. Oscar is not just a dog; he's your soon-to-be best friend! This adorable guy is as sweet as they come, with a heart as big as his desire for belly rubs. He's a real charmer, always eager to please and ready to snuggle up beside you while you go about your day. Oscar dreams of finding a forever home where his favorite person is around most of the time. He's a big fan of the work-from-home lifestyle and will gladly keep you company throughout your tasks, providing moral support and plenty of tail wags. Oscar is a pro at snuggling up with his family in bed. He's also loves outings to dog-friendly spots like pet stores, where he can strut his stuff and make new friends. And let's not forget his love for human treats—sweet potatoes and carrots are his jam! Story
Myway was born Febuary 14th 2011 as my high school graduation gift. We had become fast friends. Myway was adopted by me and my family in June 2011. He had heartworms due to improper care. After treatment Myway went on many adventures. He's very sweet. Loves to snuggle. In 2015 he got bladder stones. To treat them he is on a specific food that disolves them and keeps his urine ph normal so that they do not develop. He is not supposed to get treats or food outside this diet or at least given sparingly. We have not had any since. Needs yearly urinalysis. He gets along with our cat and my moms dogs. He is good with children as long as they are not stepping on or hurting him. He has a long back so you must be careful with that per the Vet. He is old and pees in house sometimes but he will come with diapers as well as cage toys food etc. Up to date on all Vet needs
