Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Kirby was adopted as a pup and was returned to us, his adopter ran into some medical issues and was no longer able to care for Kirby.Kirby is a very good boy, he is shy at first with strangers but then when he does warm up he acts like he has known ya forever, he was an only dog at his previous home, he is very much a companion dog who loves to go for walks and travels fine in the car. He does get along with other dogs  as he has always done, but at 10 he has grown use to the way life once was. Please note he does have envioronmental allergies and requires monthly  injections to  be comfortable. We would like to  find him a home where someone is looking to have a faithful companion and be willing to take him for walks and play with him. He still has lots of enegy left and loves to run.If you would like to be considered as a new home for him send us a message.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 19, 2026, 2:43 pm

Story
Hi, I'm Max — and before you do anything else, please don't rush me. I know, I know. I'm adorable and you want to scoop me up immediately. But give me just a day or two to figure out that you're one of the good ones, and I promise you — I will become your most devoted little shadow. Once I feel safe? I am all in. Lap cuddles, sun-soaking sessions, nose pressed against the window watching the world go by — this is my daily agenda, and there's room on the schedule for you. I walk great on a leash, I'm reliably house trained, I've made friends with dogs and even tried to befriend the cat, and I eat my meals like clockwork. I'm 3 years old, I weigh 11 lbs, and I am a whole lot of love in a very small package. My Ideal Home I do best with someone who is home often — an older couple or a single person who wants a close companion. I'm good with other dogs and cats, and I warm up well to both women and men once I've settled in. A calm, patient household where I have time to decompress is where I'll truly thrive. A Few Important Things to Know I need a slow introduction: I'm not a walk-in-and-immediately-love-you kind of dog. Give me a day or two to figure out that I'm safe. During that window, move calmly, let me set the pace, and don't rush into my space — I'll come to you. Fear-based nipping: When I'm scared or startled, I may nip. Early in my foster home, I nipped when my kennel was opened before I was ready. Once I trusted my people, that behavior stopped entirely. It's never aggression — it's anxiety. My forever family should be comfortable handling a dog who's still learning to trust, and willing to move slow and let me adjust on my timeline. Door darter: I will absolutely try to make a break for it when a door opens. A heads-up and a leash near the door are a must. Destuffer: I take toy destruction seriously. Skip the stuffed toys and plush bedding — non-stuffed options only, and we're golden. Vocal: I have opinions and I will share them. Not constantly, but I will absolutely let you know what's on my mind. What I Bring to the Table I'm 3 years old — young enough to have plenty of good years ahead, old enough to actually sleep through the night (in my crate, like the gentleman I am). I love hard once I love you. My foster family has watched me go from scared and uncertain to cuddly and content, and they'll tell you: the dog underneath all that initial nervousness is incredibly sweet. If you're the patient, home-a-lot type who's looking for a little guy who will eventually become your whole world — hi. I'm Max. I've been waiting for you. If you know I'm your forever pup, fill out an adoption application at daretorescue.org/adoption-application — and don't forget to put my name on your application! Can't adopt but want to help? Story
Hi, I'm Flynn — and honestly, my story started a little rough. I was found running loose on the streets of Jacksonville with no chip, no ID, and no one coming to claim me. But here's the thing about me: I land on my feet. Or, well, all four paws. It took me a beat to trust my foster family, but once I did? Completely smitten. I'm a leashed-walk enjoyer, an other-dog tolerator, and a genuinely sweet boy who just needed someone to give him a chance. That someone might be you. My Ideal Home I'm good with other dogs and do well with both men and women. I just need a family that's patient with me during the "getting to know you" phase — I'm a little shy at first, but I warm up fast and I'm worth the wait. A Few Important Things to Know Heart murmur: A heart murmur was detected during my intake exam. It hasn't slowed me down, but my forever family should be prepared for regular vet monitoring and the possibility of future cardiac care. A vet visit shortly after adoption is a must. Fatty tumor: There's a benign fatty lump on my back leg — common and not currently a concern, but worth keeping an eye on with your vet. Working on my figure: I came in a little fluffy. A healthy diet and those leashed walks I love should help me get to my ideal weight over time. What I Bring to the Table Someone caught me running loose, someone drove to get me, someone opened their home to me — and I rewarded every single one of them with sweetness. That's just who I am. I was a little nervous at first, sure. But give me a minute and I will show you exactly who Flynn is: a gentle, loving, good-with-dogs boy who just wants a soft place to land. Permanently this time. Story
Hi there, I'm Dexter — and I just turned 13, which means I've officially earned the right to be the center of someone's universe. I'm a distinguished gentleman of a certain age, and I carry myself accordingly. I sit up tall when I want your attention (or a treat), I greet everyone I meet like they're my favorite person, and I will absolutely go for a car ride if you're offering. I love cuddles, treats, a good game of fetch or "chase me" (2–5 minutes max — I have a reputation to maintain), and I take my sleeping arrangements very seriously. Dog bed, hard floor, back to the dog bed, maybe the couch, possibly the closet, definitely the bathmat — I like to keep things interesting. I am looking for someone who wants to be MY person. Not one of many. Mine.   --- My Ideal Home I do best as the only pet in a home with someone who is around most of the time — working remotely, retired, or able to bring me along on their daily adventures. I am good with men and women and love meeting new people wherever we go.   ---  A Few Important Things to Know Separation anxiety: I get anxious when left alone — and I mean alone — even if other pets are home. I'll let you know about it vocally. My dream home is someone who works from home or can take me most places they go. Resource guarding: I love attention, and I take it personally when other animals interrupt my time with my person. I've had a few scuffles with other dogs and cats over this. One incident did result in a minor bite — no stitches required, and everyone healed up fine — but to keep everyone safe, I should be the only pet in my forever home. Seizures & medication: I had my first seizure recently and have been started on Keppra to manage them. I haven't had any since starting medication, but I do require a committed adopter who can maintain my medication schedule and monitor my health. This is non-negotiable — my forever family must be prepared for this responsibility.   ---  What I Bring to the Table I am, by all accounts, an incredibly sweet boy. My foster family will tell you — I sit up tall and proud when I want to say hello, I love hard, and I am completely devoted to my person. My previous family is heartbroken that circumstances changed. Their only wish is that I find someone new to love me the way they did. If you're looking for a loyal, funny, opinionated little gentleman who just wants to be your whole world — I might be exactly what you didn't know you needed. If you know I'm your forever pup, fill out an adoption application at daretorescue.org/adoption-application — and don't forget to put my name on your application! Can't adopt but want to help?
