Story
GetALong Dachshund Rescue is pleased to introduce Greta and Shotzy. Greta and Shotzy are 9 years old, and weigh about 14 pounds. They are looking for their forever home together. This wonderful bonded pair are extremely loving. Their favorite place to be is with their person. They are looking for a home where they can sleep in the big bed and have lots of cuddles. They would like a home where their person is home with them most of the time, and where there are no children under the age of 10 years. They have not been cat tested but get along well with other dogs who are their own size. Because they are both very submissive, we are looking for a home for them without large dogs. They would like a home with a fenced yard so they can enjoy sunbeams and zoomies. Shotzy and Greta are very playful. They enjoy playing with toys and each other. They are very bonded and want to give each other kisses and cuddles and also love to share their love with their person. Both love to go for car rides and enjoy being anywhere their person is. They are working on their leash walking in their foster home in Ohio and are improving every day. Shotzy and Greta are both house trained. As with all rescue dogs it is to be expected that they may go through a period of adjustment when they come to their forever home, and patience and understanding will be important. Both Shotzy and Greta are crate trained. Greta and Shotzy are waiting for their forever home! Are you going to be the lucky one to adopt the sweetest dogs ever? Greta and Shotzy are going to make some lucky adopter very very happy! Apply today to adopt them!

Story
This is Luna. She is a 9-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua/Yorkie mix with the sweetest little heart. Luna is truly a love bug. She loves to cuddle, be close to her people, and spend her days soaking up affection. She is house trained and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, gentle, snuggly girl. Luna does have a low thyroid condition, so she will need a home that is able to provide her with the special care and attention she requires. Unfortunately, due to changes happening in my life, I no longer have the capacity to care for her in the way she deserves. This decision has not been easy, and my biggest priority is finding Luna a loving home where she will be cared for, cherished, and given the time and attention she needs. Please reach out if you or someone you know may be able to give Luna the safe and loving home she deserves.

Story
Hi. I'm Captain. I'm 14, I play fetch, I do zoomies in the yard, and I take treats from your hand like a gentleman. Through some life changes I found myself looking for a new family — and I have a lot of love left to give. I may not see you very clearly. I may not hear your footsteps. But I will know you're there, and that's honestly enough for me. I'm calm in the car, happy to go places, and very serious about snuggling on the sofa.  My Ideal Home A calm, loving household — ideally an older, retired person or couple who's home a lot and moves at a gentle pace. I do well with another calm, gentle dog friend, but I'm equally happy as the one and only. Good with older children, men, and women. I need a fenced yard to safely explore the world on my own terms. A Few Important Things to Know Vision and hearing loss: I can't see or hear well — but don't let that fool you. I navigate beautifully using familiar smells, routines, and people I trust. My forever family should know: calm, predictable environments are where I thrive. No sneaking up on me, please. Medical care: I have a prescription steroid spray used as needed for sebaceous cysts, and I wear a donut collar when things flare up. I also take Dasuquin, a joint supplement recommended by my vet. This routine keeps me comfortable — my adopter needs to be ready to maintain it. Special diet: I eat Authority Sensitive Stomach & Skin canned food, which provides the omega fatty acids my vet recommends. This one isn't up for negotiation — it keeps me feeling my best. Not tested with cats or small children: I've done wonderfully with older children, men, and women, but I haven't been formally introduced to cats or very young kids. Families with either aren't the right fit at this time. What I Bring to the Table I am, by every account, a very good boy. I'm quiet — genuinely quiet. I signal politely when I need to go out, and when I'm hungry I'll let you know in my own little "talking" way that I'm pretty sure is completely charming. I'm not possessive with my toys or my food, and I am very serious about bedtime — whether that's my own little bed with my blanket and toys curled up next to my person, or the big bed with you. I'm flexible like that.Click here to watch a video of Captain. If you know I'm your forever pup, fill out an adoption application at daretorescue.org/adoption-application — and don't forget to put my name on your application! Can't adopt but want to help?
