Story
Princess is a black and tan Dachshund/Chiweenie mix, she is 10 years old and 9 lbs. She is spayed, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives. Princess is fostered in the greater Jacksonville, FL area. Submit an adoption application on our website: https://www.fawnssmalldogrescue.org/adoptable-dogs/princess Princess is a darling, cuddly lady who prefers people over everything else. Like many Dachshund mixes, she has opinions and is sometimes fussy enough to express them. It's hard when people forget that you're royalty! Princess is working on house and potty training. She's been doing well going potty in the yard and on potty pads. She's working on leash training and her ideal home has a securely fenced yard. In Princess's previously life, she lived with a family with two other small dogs and kids who were 10+ years old. She do best with dog-savvy teens. She and Fawn's foster Bella, lived together. Unfortunately, they had a falling out and can't be placed in the same home. Princess is currently fostered with multiple small dogs. She'd do best with one or two other dogs. This diva dachshund mix doesn't enjoy competing for attention with other senior female dogs. She does best with similarly sized male dogs and younger female dogs. Princess is ready for the sweet life with the royal treatment she clearly deserves. She'd adore being the only Princess in the castle, however, with appropriate introductions she'd be fine with a prince and a younger princess. Her ideal home has a securely fenced yard and people who are home more often than not. She's enjoying living in an adult only home, she'd likely to well with older, dog-savvy teens.

Story
Hi there, I’m Phoebe! I’m 15 years old, 25 pounds, and a gentle soul looking for a patient and understanding forever home. I thrive in calm and quiet environments, and I’d do best with one or two older women who can provide me the time and space I need to feel safe. I’m a shy girl, and it may take me weeks—sometimes months—to come out of hiding willingly. With love and patience, I’ll start to follow you around and keep an eye on where you are. I’ve made great progress in my foster home, but I’ll need someone experienced and willing to help me continue to build my confidence. A few things to know about me: Men make me nervous: I’m not comfortable around men and may react strongly to them, so I need a home where this can be managed. I’m vocal: While I love to let my voice be heard, my foster mom has worked with me, and I’m learning to quiet down after a reminder or two. I’m house trained: I know my manners and enjoy being part of a peaceful household. I’m independent yet affectionate: Once I trust you, I’ll happily share my gentle heart and enjoy cuddles by your side. My favorite activities include lounging in my cozy bed, keeping close to my foster grandma, and exploring the backyard at my own pace. I’m searching for someone special who understands that good things take time. If you’re ready to open your heart to a quiet, loving companion who just needs a little patience, I might be the perfect match for you. If you know that I am your forever pup, please fill out an adoption application at https://daretorescue.org/adoption-application. Don't forget to put my NAME on your application! If you cannot adopt me but would like to help DARE pay for my care before I am adopted by my forever family, donate online at https://daretorescue.org/donation or send a check made payable to DARE to:DAREPO Box 21161Tampa, FL 32210     Even if you do not see a dog that matches what you're looking for, you may fill out a no obligation application at https://daretorescue.org/adoption-application and we will work to find a match for you. We receive dogs into foster care frequently, so it is impossible to have every available or soon-to-be-available dog on the website.October 20, 2025, 10:02 am

Story
Meet Harley and Piper, an eight year old bonded pair. Harley is a happy 16 pounds and sweet Piper is 13 pounds. Harley and Piper are crate trained and housetrained. Like all dachshunds they should be reminded to go outside on a regular basis. Like all dogs, they will need to be confident in their environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go through a period of adjustment, so understanding and patience is important. Harley and Piper are good with other dogs. They have not yet been tested with cats or children. Harley is a strong personality, and Piper is a calm, submissive girl. This lovely pair are very loving with their people. In their foster home in Alabama, they sleep in the big bed, and they are practicing their leash walking. Their favorite place is snuggling under blankies as much as they can. Piper has some allergies that affect her respiratory system, and needs to take antihistamines, and at times she may need low dose steroids. Harley (like many alpha dogs) has some separation anxiety and would like a home where his people can be home with him most of the time. Harley loves toys! So much so that he will tell any other dog that they are HIS! Piper feels the same way about food (but doesn’t every dachshund that you know?), and she will try to eat food from other bowls in her foster home. Harley and Piper are waiting for their forever family. Is it you? Apply to adopt them today!
