Story
Welcome Drummer to CCPAL Rescue. Drummer is an 8-year-old wire-haired Dachshund. He was adopted out by us 4 years ago. He was 4 at the time. He has been loved and bonded deeply to the woman that adopted him. He would love another home with a quieter home that would allow him to get the attention he needs and deserves. He has found himself in need of a new forever home. His owner has been put in hospice and can no longer care for him. The immediate family cannot care for him so we stepped up and will find this precious boy his new forever home. He is trying to adjust to the Rescue again. The treats from our friends in New Jersey helped him today along with all the nice gifts. His owner has been put in hospice and can no longer care for him. The immediate family cannot care for him so we stepped up and will find this precious boy his new forever home. 5.5 may sound out but it truly is middle aged in Dachshunds lifespans. They can easily live to be 17 years old. If you love the breed, you know how loyal and bonded these dogs are to their person. They are a single dog person dog. They may love other people but they are loyal to one. He sheds some but not over the top. He is a good weight and his teeth are not too bad for his age. You can tell he was cared for and that he is disoriented with his new arrangement at the Rescue. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Welcome Arty to CCPAL Rescue. Arty is a 2 year old Dashchund/Parsons Jack Russel is our best guess using AI technology. He weighs 25 pounds. This boy is very sweet. He is calm, good with other dogs, relatively quiet and not too vocal. This description doesn’t fit with the breeds mentioned but this is his behavior. He is good with other dogs and very laid back. He has a coarse coat, and it isn’t too much of a shedding dog. He is sturdy enough to be a good walking companion. He would be fine in a smaller yard like a condo yard and would be ok with a moderately active family. He is a gem and he loves humans, despite his previous experience with them. He is kenneled with another small dog that came from the same place and he does well. He will be neutered soon and looking for his forever home. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $450 and transport to one the areas above is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Meet Darrell! This tiny, ridiculously handsome little guy is about a year old and we believe he may be a Dachshund/chihuahua mix. With his short legs, speckled paws, expressive eyebrows, and permanent "I know something you don't know" grin, Darrell looks like he walked straight out of a cartoon. At first glance, Darrell can come across as a tough guy. In reality, he's more like a tiny security guard who takes his job a little too seriously. His job? Making sure his favorite people are safe and properly loved. Watch Darrell in action in his video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTR5fmcZ9EM Once Darrell decides you're one of his people, you're in. He absolutely adores his trusted humans and turns into a total cuddle bug. He's perfectly lap-sized, loves curling up next to his family, and thinks car rides are one of the greatest inventions of all time. If you're headed somewhere, Darrell would like to come too. He also loves having a routine. His crate is his cozy little bedroom, and he happily trots right inside when it's time to relax. Predictability helps him feel safe, and he's the kind of dog who thrives when he knows what to expect. Darrell currently lives with dogs and cats and does very well with both. He's generally pretty aloof with other dogs, preferring to mind his own business rather than get involved in puppy politics. He gets along well with dogs who respect personal space and don't constantly pester him. He also lives with cats and has learned that after one firm feline correction, it's best to mind your own business. Smart guy. Now for the important part: Darrell is not a dog who enjoys strangers getting in his face or handling him before trust has been built. He can absolutely be mouthy when he's uncomfortable and may snap or bite if his boundaries are ignored. He's not being mean—he's just very clear about his feelings and expects people to listen. Because of this, Darrell needs an adopter who understands dog body language and respects that relationships take time. Darrell thrives on routine and predictability. He loves his crate, enjoys knowing what's coming next, and settles beautifully into home life. His foster reports that he has experienced occasional seizures throughout his life, but they have been rare and have never stopped him from being a happy, adventurous little dog. Car rides, lap time, snacks, and spending time with his favorite people are still at the top of his priority list. Because of his medical history and his preference for limited stranger handling, Darrell will be adopted as-is. Future adopters should be comfortable monitoring his health alongside their veterinarian, but overall he continues to enjoy a fantastic quality of life and spends his days doing what he does best: being an adorable little sidekick. The good news? Once he trusts you, he's incredibly loving, loyal, and affectionate. The bond he forms with his people is something special. He's not looking for a hundred friends. He's looking for his family. His ideal home would be a quieter household with older children or adults who appreciate a dog with a little sass and a lot of personality. No apartments for this guy—he can be a bit chatty when he has opinions, and Darrell definitely has opinions. Darrell is the canine version of that grumpy old man who secretly has a heart of gold. He's funny, loyal, adorable, and full of character. He won't love everyone, but if he chooses you, you'll have one of the most devoted little sidekicks around. And honestly? That's kind of what makes him so special. 🖤🐾✨ Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Welcome Mutz to CCPAL Rescue. Mutz is a 3-year-old Daug (Dachshund /Pug). He weighs about 12 pounds and is full grown and a nice weight. This dog came from the hoarder or overabundance of dog situation. He has an adorable underbit and has really blossomed at the Rescue. He is a quieter dog and has learned to like to be held. He is definitely a lap companion. He is playful with other dogs and has the sturdy body of the Pug. He would love to be a companion for a person that is retired, partially retired or maybe someone with a household that wants a dog with a lower energy to join in. He would be ok with a smaller condo size yard. He is learning leash manners and getting used to commotion of the Rescue. He hasn’t experienced a lot of different things so he isn’t sure yet but he is really really nice. He is not a big shedding dog. He is fine with nail trims and baths and will make some lucky family a great companion. I would say anyone moderately active would be fine for this dog. He bonds deeply and he warms up with affection nicely. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting vaccinations, neutered and he will be ready for his forever home soon. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Story
Buddy is a sweet older dog who loves to cuddle and go on walks. He needs to be rehomed because his owner is moving to a memory care unit where pets are not allowed. He would be great with someone who has time to be with him and take him on walks. He has been with another dog for most of his life and if possible it would be great if they could stay together. Lily is the other dog in the photo.

Story
DOB 12-7-2024 Wolfie is a gorgeous Red and White Long Hair! This beautiful boy loves everyone, likes to play with toys and his friends. He is neutered, heartworm negative and has received a Proheart6 preventative injection, up to date on shots and is now looking for a loving home. His adoption fee is 900.00 and his transport fee is 165.00. HEARTS is our transport, they run every 2 weeks. It's the best transport and the only one we will use. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
