She’s doing amazing and making great progress on her journey to find her forever home.   **Chewing Improvement**: We’re still working on the chewing, but she’s adjusting well to her chew toys. **Potty Progress**: Nelly is going in and out to potty regularly, though she sometimes uses a puppy pad if she can't wait. **Yard Adventures**: While she’s still a bit hesitant to come back inside from the yard, she’s getting much better at going out by us! **Growing Affection**: Nelly has started to play more and loves coming up for cuddles when we’re sitting down. Her sleek black coat shines beautifully, and her gentle, soulful eyes are sure to melt your heart. For households with feline friends, she can be cat-tested to ensure a happy match for everyone. While Jenn has a strong bond with her sister, she is an independent girl who will thrive on her own. Story
If you love dogs with a big heart, a total snuggle bug, one who longs to be your lap dog and best friend, but has a small frame and little legs to match? Well look no further because Meghan Peanut Markel was made for you! Not only is she incredibly sweet but she is absolutely adorable!! So get ready for your phone to be overrun with Meghan content because that’s exactly what is going to happen the second you bring her home. Watch her video and fall in love with her: https://youtu.be/cQ-ztshK1RE?si=DDNUiPAVLgaCzqzE Meghan Markel is a Dachshund mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs about 20lbs. She’s a little girl and the perfect size for lap snuggles, which are a favorite of hers! She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Meghan is a bit shy at first when meeting new people, in new environments and may take a little time to warm up, but once she does, she’s all about affection and spoiling you with her gentle love. She truly shines as a lap dog and is happiest curled up close to her person, soaking in love and giving it right back. Her energy level is beautifully balanced, not too busy and not too sleepy. Just the right amount of energy, the kind of pup who fits perfectly into your routine. She enjoys getting out for walks (and walks nicely on a leash!) but is just as content relaxing at home snuggled up next you on the couch binge watching your favorite show or movie. She’s dog-friendly and has done great with every dog we have introduced her to. She has met dogs her size and smaller and has also been around dogs twice her size! No matter the size, Meghan has shown to be a polite gentle lady when she meets a dog on leash and shows that same level of gentleness when meeting dogs off leash. She isn’t a super playful girl with other dogs; she prefers calm companionship over rough-and-tumble play. Meghan has the kind of easygoing personality that allows her to thrive in many living situations. Her well-balanced energy level and polite leash manners make her a great neighbor-friendly companion. She would also be perfectly happy in a suburban home with a backyard, where she could enjoy sniffing around, sunbathing, and lounging after her walks. While she’d appreciate outdoor access, she doesn’t rely on a yard to be fulfilled; her happiness comes from companionship, not square footage. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who bonds deeply, loves cuddles, and brings a steady, comforting presence into your life, Meghan may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. We are willing to test Meghan Markel with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
We don’t know who gave Shorty Spuds permission to be THIS cute, THIS happy, and THIS good at dancing… but we’re really glad they did. If you’ve been waiting for a tiny best friend who brings big joy, will instantly put a smile on your face, Shorty Spuds is about to steal your heart in record time. Watch his video and fall in love with this little cutie: https://youtu.be/xa-He4dnQjc?si=GTB61InK5agmF89h Shorty Spuds is a 1-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix (and with rescue, it’s always a bit of a mystery!) weighing in at about 15 pounds of pure personality. He may be small, but this little guy is packed with happiness, charm, and the kind of love that instantly makes your day better. From the moment you meet him, it’s clear. Shorty loves people. Like, really loves them. He’s the kind of dog who would choose cuddles over toys every single time. While he’ll happily accept a tasty treat (and will absolutely show off his adorable little dance moves for one), what he really wants is you. Your attention, your affection, your lap. His favorite place in the world is curled up right next to his person, soaking up all the love he can get. And speaking of adorable… his face alone is enough to make you melt, but add in his little happy dances and the way he snuggles into your lap like he was made for it? Game over. Shorty is crate trained and doing great with his potty training. He’s still learning, but he’s making progress every day and just needs a little continued guidance in a new home. He’s eager to please and very food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. When it comes to other dogs, Shorty is a great little companion. He enjoys playing, running around, and engaging in lighthearted games of chase. He’s also respectful and fair, shares treats and affection nicely and reads other dogs well. If a dog comes on a little too strong or plays too rough, Shorty will politely advocate for himself with a low growl, basically saying, “hey, i’m a little guy. Let’s keep it gentle please.” It’s all part of his good communication skills. Shorty also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. He did not chase Biggie, nor was he bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around him as well. We do not know if he has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing him with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for him to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Shorty would thrive in a home where he can be close to his people, whether that’s lounging on the couch, tagging along for daily activities, or showing off his signature dance moves for a treat. He’s fun, lovable, and full of that contagious happy energy that makes life just a little bit better. If you’re looking for a small dog with a huge heart, endless affection, and the cutest little personality to match, Shorty might just be your perfect match. We are willing to test Shorty Spuds with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Welcome Proton to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 3-month-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mixed puppy. Mom is Chihuahua and dad is a Dachshund. Proton is small and weighs about 5 pounds now. He fits easily in your hands. He has droopy ears and a wrinkly forehead and some big, beautiful eyes that will be hard to resist. He has a straight and a longer body. He should be 15 pounds or less full grown. He will be a small dog. Both parents were under 12 pounds. He would be best in a home where the person doesn’t work all day every day. A house with less stairs is best as well. He needs to be with his human, to be able to go places and to finish up his puppy training. He will go potty on a wee pad. He is playful and the puppies all like toys. He is the bigger one in his litter but still tiny. He is getting his puppy vaccines, dewormed and will be ready for neuter when he is a few weeks older or heavier. They need to weigh 5 pounds to be neutered. He would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older due to his small size. He could be adopted locally in Texas, where she is in the Rescue or we could work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpalrescue.org See his cute video!!

Story
Floyd is a four-year-old sweetheart who might be a Dachshund–Chihuahua mix—no one knows for sure, but we do know he’s 100% love. With his adorable floppy “Chihuahua-style” ears and his gentle, happy demeanor, he wins hearts everywhere he goes. This affectionate little guy is full of kisses, cuddles, and charm. He loves hopping onto the couch, rolling over for belly rubs, and staying close to his people. In his foster home, Floyd lives with both small and large dogs and gets along beautifully with everyone—he’s even polite enough to share food with his canine friends. Floyd is potty trained, crate trained, and ready to fit perfectly into a new home. Whether you’re a family looking for a friendly companion or a single person wanting a devoted best friend, Floyd is the kind of dog who will bring joy, affection, and loyalty every day. If you’re looking for a loving, easygoing companion to brighten your life, Floyd is waiting to meet you. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there!
