Story
PLEASE NOTE: This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to Massachusetts shortly with no additional travel costs. Roughly 90% of our dogs are adopted prior to their transport up to MA and 10% are adopted locally.Meet Dottie! Dottie is approximately 6 years old, 10 lb currently, and she may have some wire haired dachshund in her mix! She would love to be adopted with her daughter Dash. She was part of a hoarding situation. In her foster home, she is working hard on her house training, crate-training, and leash walking. She could join households with kids 10+, cats and other small dogs. Her foster says, `I am fairly certain that Dottie`s whole purpose in her life will be to make her human the happiest that she possibly can. From the wiggle in her nose, to her mohawk, all the way to the wiggle wag in her tail she aims to please. Once given time to decompress and come to you on her time she will think you are the best thing since Pup-a-ronis were invented. She is very playful with me and excitable just by saying her name. She is smart and learning routines. She is even the best cuddler EVER and shares the blankies while she makes sure you have a good night sleep. Given the opportunity she will be a fantastic companion. Lap dog and TV buddie if you are a willing participant.`She is available for adoption in N Dartmouth in July or earlier. Please fill out an application on our website at https://www.browndogcoalition.com/adoptable as a first step.-Dogs may not be given as gifts or surprises.-Please thoughtfully discuss with your entire household the physical, safety, financial and emotional responsibilities of a dog BEFORE applying to adopt.- More information about our adoption process, application and adoption fees can be found at browndogcoalition.com

Greg and Gary are an irresistible mix of Dachshund, Corgi, and Terrier, combining the best traits of all three breeds into one lovable package. These pups have known nothing but love, affection, and gentle care since the day they were born in their mother's foster home. At just 4–5 pounds, they're on the smaller side and are expected to remain compact companions, perfect for cuddling on the couch, tagging along on adventures, or curling up in your lap after a day of play. While each puppy has his or her own unique look and personality, they all share the same sweet, playful nature. They are affectionate, social, and absolutely love being around people. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big heart packed into a small body, one of these precious pups may be the perfect match for you. As with all young puppies, they will benefit from having someone home most of the time at first. This liter was surrended to a kill shelter in Texas, why we don't know. The owneer didn't want to be bother we could assume. But we couldn't allow them to die for no reason. We had our rescue partner grab them and now they are healthy to travel. Yes they were a little skinny when they first came into the rescue. Story
Meet Westley: long dog, shy guy, backyard security specialist 🐾🌭 Westley is a 3-year-old Chiweenie weighing about 12 pounds, though genetically he seems to have said “more dachshund, please.” He’s got the long little body, the adorable waddly zoomies, and serious opinions about neighborhood activity. This sweet boy absolutely LOVES other dogs. In fact, having a playful dog buddy—or regular dog friends to romp around with—is basically a requirement for his happiness. Nothing brings Westley to life faster than backyard zoomies with canine pals. He’s social, playful, and happiest when another dog says, “Wanna run around for absolutely no reason?” Westley is very shy when meeting new people and can freeze up when he’s nervous, but he has never shown any meanness whatsoever. Once he realizes he’s safe, his curious and goofy personality starts peeking through. He actually did great at a local pet store despite being nervous about introductions, and he’s been good with calm kids and polite people he’s met along the way. He’s also cat-curious—more “what are you?” than “must chase immediately.” At home, Westley is quiet indoors… unless someone dares walk past his backyard. Then he transforms into a tiny neighborhood watch captain dedicated to alerting everyone about suspicious activity such as joggers, squirrels, and people existing on sidewalks. (The neighbors may not fully appreciate his commitment to public safety.) Westley is crate trained, loves walks, and is just beginning to discover the magical joy of toys. His new tennis ball? Life-changing. He’s still working on house training and leash manners, but he’s eager to explore the world and will thrive with patience, routine, and encouragement. If you’re looking for a gentle, funny little sidekick who loves dogs, backyard adventures, and becoming part of a pack, Westley is ready to wiggle his way into your heart 💙🐾 If you are interested in finding out more about Westley, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Westley is being fostered in Cambridge, MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
