Story
I’m Zeke, a 10-year-old, 20-pound long-haired Dachshund. I came into rescue with Molly (also available) when our beloved owner passed away. We were both clearly loved and taken care of our whole lives. I’m laid back and just love to snuggle up and get cozy. I recently had a dental. I don’t need to be placed with Zeke, but Save A Dog will give preference to an adopter who wants to take us both for a reduced adoption fee. Please apply at https://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp, and the adoption team will get right back to you.

Story
DOB 12-7-2024 Wolfie is a gorgeous Red and White Long Hair! This beautiful boy loves everyone, likes to play with toys and his friends. He is neutered, heartworm negative and has received a Proheart6 preventative injection, up to date on shots and is now looking for a loving home. His adoption fee is 900.00 and his transport fee is 135.00. HEARTS is our transport, they run every 2 weeks. It's the best transport and the only one we will use. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Annie is ready to waddle into your home and join your family! This adorable 12 year old dachshund recently arrived at VPR after her owner passed. She's been very brave during this new phase of her life, and we know she'll be so happy to be a beloved pet once again. Annie loves people and gets along well with other dogs. She's happy to be picked up, enjoys sitting in a warm lap, and is always ready for a good nap. At nearly 17 pounds, Annie is carrying a little extra weight. Because of this, she has a recessed vulva, which can make her more prone to UTIs and infections. Helping her reach a healthier weight with portion control and some additional exercise will benefit her overall health and her joints. Until then, we recommend gently wiping her clean after she goes potty to help prevent irritation or infection. Annie's left eye was damaged from a previous trauma and is non-visual. The good news is that it isn't causing her any pain, and it does not need to be surgically removed. She will need a dental in the future, which Vintage Pet Rescue will cover at the adopter's vet. Annie is currently finishing a course of antibiotics for Anaplasma, and her bloodwork looked good overall, other than a slightly low white blood cell count. She should have this rechecked in a few months to monitor for any changes. Annie is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. If you're interested in adopting Annie, please submit an application at https://www.vintagepetrescue.org/adopt

Story
Molly is a very loving 8 year old dachshund/chihuahua/terrier mix. She enjoys relaxing at home in the sun or going for long hikes. She is somewhat quirky and is sometimes hesitant about new people, but loves them once she gets to know them. She is very food motivated and knows a few fun tricks such as whisper, crawl, and fist bumping! Molly has a lot of energy for an older dog, but is content lounging in the sun for long periods of time or relaxing on a porch. She is a capable hiker and enjoys long walks. Molly is house trained and is left uncrated at home when alone without issue. She is a bit of an anxious dog and is prone to shaking when nervous. She does not like thunder or fireworks. She does take a daily dose of medication to help her anxiety. That medication plus training has helped her become less reactive. Besides her anxiety, she has no other health conditions. We're looking to rehome her as Molly is not a fan of our new baby and it's causing us and her too much stress.

Story
This lovely senior lady is Bethany, affectionately known as "Bee". Bee came into foster care from the Montgomery County VA shelter where she was an unclaimed stray. She is a very special girl as she is between 13 and 15 years old and is blind. Once familiar with her surroundings, Bee maneuvers well and is fond of exploring the outdoor spaces. Bee has recently had a dental and lost no teeth! She also had a polyp removed from her ear which was causing some chronic infections, which are now cleared up. Because of her blindness Bee struggles with housetraining, so a strict schedule of potty breaks would help her to get back to her routine. Bee would love a family where she could have a safe space to roam and enjoy all the smells, get lots of pets and love, and of course treats! If you would like to offer Bee a quiet, loving retirement home, she would love to be your new BFF!

Story
Meet Thea: The Ultimate Snuggle Girl Thea is a stunning caramel-and-white Dachshund mix, approximately 2–3 years old, who is ready to find her forever lap. If you’re looking for a true “burrower,” look no further! Thea loves the cozy life and is a gold-medal snuggler who’s happiest tunneled under a soft blanket beside her favorite person. She’s also the perfect co-pilot for weekend errands because she absolutely loves car rides. Whether you’re heading to the park for a stroll or just cruising around town, Thea is always ready to hop in and enjoy the adventure. She does have a strong chase instinct and will go after cats and squirrels, so she should always remain on a leash outdoors. The Essentials • Spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated • Current on heartworm prevention • House trained and leash trained • Understands pee pads • Not a fan of rainy weather, so she may occasionally have an indoor accident during storms Her Personality Thea is what you’d call a “slow-burn” sweetheart. New people can make her a little anxious, and she tends to use her voice when meeting someone for the first time. She’s looking for a patient adopter who understands that her barking is simply her way of saying, “I’m nervous right now.” Once Thea feels safe and learns to trust you, her affectionate side shines through. The barking fades, the snuggling begins, and she’ll happily burrow under a blanket for a cozy nap by your side. If you have a quieter home, an open passenger seat, and plenty of fuzzy blankets, Thea just might be your perfect match. Thea’s adoption fee is $400. Please apply for her at Coaldr.org
