PLEASE NOTE: This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to Massachusetts shortly with no additional travel costs. Roughly 90% of our dogs are adopted prior to their transport up to MA and 10% are adopted locally.Meet Puddin! She currently weighs 6 pounds. Puddin, Oreo, Sweetie, and French Fry had Parvo but all have been treated and are doing great! As a puppy, she will need someone who is home for most of the day to provide a lot of attention and consistent expectations. Puppy classes and training are a must to ensure that she grows up to be a well behaved and loyal companion. She would do best in a home with kids 5+. Her foster says, “She is just the sweetest! She love humans and to sleep in your lap.”A refundable pay/neuter surgery deposit of $250 is required. The surgery will be coordinated and paid for by BDC and done in Franklin by six months of age, so adopters must be willing to comply with this MA regulation and within driving distance of Franklin. She is available for adoption in N Dartmouth on June 19 or possibly a bit earlier. Meet Cooper! Cooper is approximately 8 years old, 18 lb currently, and he may have some Dachshund in his mix! In his foster home, he is working hard on his house training, crate-training, and leash walking. He could join households with kids 10+, cats and other dogs. His foster says, `Cooper came into rescue in hopes that he would find a new, loving home. He has adjusted nicely to foster life and doggy daycare. He is social and fun. Sometimes he is a little opinionated and may not want to share his special bed or crate with another pup. Out on the play yard, he has fun wrestling with his friends. He likes both bigger dogs and little ones. He did fine with (dog-savvy) cats too. Cooper has finally lost enough weight to help ensure he has a longer, healthier life. We are proud of his progress. He is crate trained, potty trained, walks well on a leash, is neutered, and up to date on immunizations and heartworm prevention.`He is available for adoption in Hopkinton or Framingham by appointment. Story
Meet Westley: long dog, shy guy, backyard security specialist 🐾🌭 Westley is a 3-year-old Chiweenie weighing about 12 pounds, though genetically he seems to have said “more dachshund, please.” He’s got the long little body, the adorable waddly zoomies, and serious opinions about neighborhood activity. This sweet boy absolutely LOVES other dogs. In fact, having a playful dog buddy—or regular dog friends to romp around with—is basically a requirement for his happiness. Nothing brings Westley to life faster than backyard zoomies with canine pals. He’s social, playful, and happiest when another dog says, “Wanna run around for absolutely no reason?” Westley is very shy when meeting new people and can freeze up when he’s nervous, but he has never shown any meanness whatsoever. Once he realizes he’s safe, his curious and goofy personality starts peeking through. He actually did great at a local pet store despite being nervous about introductions, and he’s been good with calm kids and polite people he’s met along the way. He’s also cat-curious—more “what are you?” than “must chase immediately.” At home, Westley is quiet indoors… unless someone dares walk past his backyard. Then he transforms into a tiny neighborhood watch captain dedicated to alerting everyone about suspicious activity such as joggers, squirrels, and people existing on sidewalks. (The neighbors may not fully appreciate his commitment to public safety.) Westley is crate trained, loves walks, and is just beginning to discover the magical joy of toys. His new tennis ball? Life-changing. He’s still working on house training and leash manners, but he’s eager to explore the world and will thrive with patience, routine, and encouragement. If you’re looking for a gentle, funny little sidekick who loves dogs, backyard adventures, and becoming part of a pack, Westley is ready to wiggle his way into your heart 💙🐾 If you are interested in finding out more about Westley, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Westley is being fostered in Shrewsbury, MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
