Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Jake is a male silver dapple long hair neutered standard dachshund, 14.5 pounds and approximately 10 years old. Don’t let the age fool you. He does well with other dogs and loves people. Do not know about cats or children but with his personality do not feel that will be a problem. Jake did have stomach surgery due to a twisted stomach early in 2025 and this requires him to eat in a slow feeder bowl. Otherwise, he has no other medical issues. So, are you looking for a companion to share the new year 2026? Jake would make an amazing companion. He is very smart, has already mastered the ramps and stairs in the house. Walks well on a lease and rides very well in the Jeep. He knows where the doggie door is, loves going in the yard and has discovered the art of chasing squirrels. He can become toy obsessed and may need to take a time out from full toy destruction. Jake is not completely house broken but is improving every day. He has not shown any resource aggression, toys or even food. Jake braved the New Years fireworks noises without a problem.  This very handsome boy would be a great addition to any home.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 2, 2026, 10:36 am

Story
Delilah is a 6-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who came to us after being surrendered to a shelter with the intent of euthanasia. Thankfully, we were able to intervene and bring her safely to For Pet’s Sake Rescue, where she has been in our care since early November. She is confident, curious, and ready to find her forever family. Full of pizazz, Delilah loves to investigate her surroundings and be part of whatever is happening around her. She approaches new situations with enthusiasm and charm, making her a wonderful fit for a home looking for a lively, engaging companion. Delilah’s upbeat personality balances beautifully with her sister’s (Eshter) more timid nature, and she is eager to share her affection and spark with the people lucky enough to call her their own. Delilah is fully house trained and kennel trained. She does well with dogs, cats, and children. Current weight 10 lbs. Story
Esther is a 6-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who came to us after being surrendered to a shelter with the intent of euthanasia. Thankfully, we were able to intervene and bring her safely to For Pet’s Sake Rescue, where she has been in our care since early November. Esther is a timid girl who takes time to feel secure in a new environment. In the beginning, she may hide, avoid cuddling, and show her discomfort through shivering. This is simply her way of processing change. With patience and consistency, Esther slowly acclimates, and once she does, the transformation is truly worth the wait. When she feels safe, Esther reveals her true self: a loving cuddle bug who enjoys companionship and affection. She does well with other dogs and cats, is kennel trained, and fully housetrained. Inside the home, she is calm, easygoing, and well-mannered. Outside, however, her confident side shines and she proudly patrols her space, chasing squirrels while keeping watch over her home. Esther would thrive in a patient, understanding home that allows her the time she needs to settle in and blossom. In return, she offers loyalty, warmth, and a big heart in a small package.   PLEASE READ THIS TO ADOPT: ***ALL ANIMALS ARE CURRENTLY IN LONG BEACH, MISSISSIPPI.*** We transport adopted animals every 2-3 weeks to Northeast states.  Completed applications take precedence over inquiries. If you are interested in adopting, the FIRST step is to complete an application.  We will discuss additional details with potential adopters once we have an application on file.  For Pet's Sake Rescue is a Mississippi based rescue.
