Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Who in their right minds doesn't love weenie dogs? Add long haired low riding doggies and you have Fern.  Fern is a Dachshund female, weighing in at about 13 pounds and 5 years old. No mixing happened with her as she was surrendered by a breeder by way of Rhonda Furby Rescue. Her TDR Foster reports that Fern gets along great with all dogs encountered as well as people. She has not met a cat yet, but just her overall personality shows that cats should not be an issue. She also has not met any young humans at this point. Again, she is just so happy to be free, that all humans will love her and her love them back.  Fern has no medical issues to report. She is a clinger, so happy to have human interaction. She loves snuggling up to her human. Being she spent so much time in a breeder environment, she is not 100 percent housetrained, but she is showing intelligence to learn quick, and we guess she will be housetrained in no time. Even though there are other dogs in her foster group, Fern has not shown any food aggression.  Fern has not been crate trained and she has not been taught commands in her breeder environment, but she does show that IQ to be able to learn.  Bottom line is that FERN is a sweet and lovable girl who deserves a loving home to spend the rest of her life.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 31, 2025, 10:07 am

Story
Esther is a 6-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who came to us after being surrendered to a shelter with the intent of euthanasia. Thankfully, we were able to intervene and bring her safely to For Pet’s Sake Rescue, where she has been in our care since early November. Esther is a timid girl who takes time to feel secure in a new environment. In the beginning, she may hide, avoid cuddling, and show her discomfort through shivering. This is simply her way of processing change. With patience and consistency, Esther slowly acclimates, and once she does, the transformation is truly worth the wait. When she feels safe, Esther reveals her true self: a loving cuddle bug who enjoys companionship and affection. She does well with other dogs and cats, is kennel trained, and fully housetrained. Inside the home, she is calm, easygoing, and well-mannered. Outside, however, her confident side shines and she proudly patrols her space, chasing squirrels while keeping watch over her home. Esther would thrive in a patient, understanding home that allows her the time she needs to settle in and blossom. In return, she offers loyalty, warmth, and a big heart in a small package.   PLEASE READ THIS TO ADOPT: ***ALL ANIMALS ARE CURRENTLY IN LONG BEACH, MISSISSIPPI.*** We transport adopted animals every 2-3 weeks to Northeast states.  Completed applications take precedence over inquiries. If you are interested in adopting, the FIRST step is to complete an application.  We will discuss additional details with potential adopters once we have an application on file.  For Pet's Sake Rescue is a Mississippi based rescue. Thankfully, we were able to intervene and bring her safely to For Pet’s Sake Rescue, where she has been in our care since early November. She is confident, curious, and ready to find her forever family. Full of pizazz, Delilah loves to investigate her surroundings and be part of whatever is happening around her. She approaches new situations with enthusiasm and charm, making her a wonderful fit for a home looking for a lively, engaging companion. Delilah’s upbeat personality balances beautifully with her sister’s (Eshter) more timid nature, and she is eager to share her affection and spark with the people lucky enough to call her their own. Delilah is fully house trained and kennel trained. She does well with dogs, cats, and children. Current weight 10 lbs.
