Story
Pet Location: Wayside Waifs Campus My Friends at Wayside say: - I am from a puppy mill/hoarding situation. I will likely need extra time to adjust to home life. I have lived with other dogs but have not socialized with people. Things like walking on a leash and going through doorways can be challenging for me. Adopting me will be extremely rewarding, but I need time to learn. - I’m a shy dog and need someone willing to be patient with me.- I have displayed some touch sensitivities. Ask our staff for more info! My home needs are: - I must go to a home that already has another dog so they can show me the ropes. - Wayside recommends that I have a fenced-in yard since I am still learning to walk on leash. - I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises. - If you have kids in the home between 6 and years old, I will need to meet them since I can be nervous around new people and loud noises. - For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.

Story
Garcia is my name! Wiggles is my game. I should be called Mr. Wiggles because when I see my foster mom, my butt does this weird movement from side to side really fast. I'm a happy little guy. I need time to get used to your routine and rules, so please be patient with me. I'm working on my potty training, but my foster mom's backyard is really big and I'm just a little boy, I get scared. I'm learning what a doggy door is, and I can understand how that might be convenient. My mom says I snuggle great at night. I usually sleep all night, too. I kennel well, too. I go into my kennel on my own. I am a true Velcro pup and will cry if I get left on the couch by myself!!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Lopez is trying very hard to learn how to trust the humans in his life. He no longer runs away if we look at him. Instead, he runs toward us, wiggling his entire body and smiling from ear to ear. Instead of hiding when we offer him treats, he now takes them gently from our hands. Now, when we talk to him, he doesn't tuck his tail and cower, he runs to us with all of the wiggles and smiles. Touch is still scary, but he's learning to accept it. New things are still scary, but he gets braver every day. He gets along with other dogs, and is a bit perplexed by cats. His ideal family would be patient and committed to continuing the work building his trust and his confidence. The rewards will be great with this one.

Story
Approx. DOB: 8/23/25                 Approx Weight: 16 Lbs Adoption Fee: $300 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Meet Snoopy — a happy, affectionate little guy with endless puppy energy and a heart full of love! We believe Snoopy is a Jack Russell Terrier mix, and true to the breed, he is smart, active, athletic, and always ready for fun. His favorite things include giving kisses, playing with other dogs, and zooming around the yard at top speed! Snoopy is still very much a puppy and is learning his manners and basic routines. He would thrive with an active family that can continue his training and give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. A home with another playful dog would be a huge plus since he loves canine companionship and learns well from other dogs. Because Snoopy is incredibly fast and can jump surprisingly high, a secure fenced yard is a must for this adventurous boy. He loves to run and explore, and he’ll need a family committed to keeping him safe and active. Snoopy gets along great with other dogs, but he is very interested in chasing cats, so a cat-free home — or one with a very dog-savvy, confident cat — would likely be the best fit. Snoopy is working on his house-breaking skills. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, high-energy companion who will keep you laughing and shower you with kisses, Snoopy may be your perfect match!  I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support!
