Story
Candy is a 3-year-old female who would love to add some cute quirkiness to your household. This 13ish pound dachshund mix is named for the Dolly Parton song "Hard Candy Christmas." Like Dolly, she's from the Smokies, and like in the song, she's had a rough start to life, but her future is full of possibilities. She loves cheese, celery and playing with a stuffed pig.She doesn't mind the presence of humans and might even welcome you home with sniffs, but petting is overwhelming to her. She enjoys cuddling with doggo friends but not sharing food with them. She also does not tolerate leashing/harnessing. Treat her like a piece of fine art; she needs her own safe space and to be admired but not touched. Because of this, she may not be a good fit for families with young children or those in an apartment.Candy will take a while to warm up in her new fur-ever home, but will reward patient humans willing to give her space with pint-sized zoomies and adorable antics. Maybe even a lick or two, but always on her terms!Candy is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, dewormed, started on monthly flea and heartworm prevention and her adoption fee is $250.  All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. June 16, 2026, 11:25 am

Story
Meet Tucker! Tucker is a 9-year-old Dachshund mix (maybe with some Beagle!) who’s the definition of a chill, loyal companion. He’s about 20 lbs, crate, potty, and leash trained, and great with dogs, cats, and kids.   This cuddly guy just wants to be near his person, snoozing beside you, tagging along on errands, or soaking up attention. He’s confident around bigger dogs but not afraid to give them a grumpy old-man warning if they get too close.   Tucker’s calm, gentle nature makes him an easy dog to take anywhere - no barking, no fuss. He does have a small fatty lump near his belly (non-cancerous) that may be removed during his upcoming dental.   Whoever adopts him is getting a total gem!   He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for his age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Tucker is currently being fostered in South Carolina. ADOPT TUCKER! www.LuckyPupRescueSC.com The adoption fee is $375.00 and we require a vet check and home visit. March 7, 2026, 9:51 am

Story
Meet Pilot!  Want a super energetic, collector of toys (including personal items if left in the floor LOL) and cuddly mini potato? I’m your guy. I may take a minute to warm up but once I do, I’m yours forever. You’ll never stop petting me because I feel like cotton and I’ll let you hold me like a baby and melt in your arms. Still trying to figure out potty training, but having other dogs to follow, I’ll catch on pretty darn fast! I would love another dog companion, one larger even works! I can be a bit rowdy playing. I’m super food motivated, will do anything you tell me too for treats. Zoomies happen on the daily, so get ready! I play hard and sleep hard. Yes, I snore...   He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for his age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Pilot is currently being fostered in South Carolina. ADOPT PILOT!! www.LuckyPupRescueSC.com The adoption fee is $375.00 and we require a vet check and home visit. March 7, 2026, 9:51 am

Story
Meet Virginia Slim! She's like a 28 lb sausage roll. Thankfully, she also comes with legs-four to be exact. Each one carries her elongated body effortlessly into whichever direction she deems worthy of her attention. Virginia came to us as part of a pair (see American Spirit). And while we like to promote togetherness, they don't have remain a package. While working on their alone time, we noticed Virginia gets a bit anxious, so we highly recommend she goes to a home with another dog. Virginia is friendly, cuddly, and ready to be your next best decision. Come meet this long, tall (only in her mind) beauty today!

Story
Ronnie is a lovable senior with plenty of pep left in his step! At just 7–8 years old and a slightly chunky 16 pounds, he’s the perfect little companion with a fun, goofy personality. He’ll make you laugh with his silly antics, then happily crash out for a cozy nap right after. Ronnie came to us from animal control and is ready for a fresh start with a family to call his own. He’s a sweet soul who may be a little shy when first meeting new people, but it doesn’t take long for his warm, affectionate nature to shine through. He’s both (respectful kids) kid-friendly and dog-friendly, making him a wonderful addition to many types of homes. Ronnie is also house-trained and enjoys being part of the daily routine. Ronnie does have dry eye in one eye and requires a simple prescription medication, but he handles it like a champ and doesn’t let it slow him down one bit. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing companion with a playful spark and a heart of gold, Ronnie might just be your perfect match.

Story
We adopted him as a puppy and he has been part of our family ever since. He is a very affectionate, people-oriented dog who loves nothing more than being close to his person. He is a total cuddle bug and will happily curl up with you on the couch for TV time or relax nearby while you go about your day. He does have anxiety and can be sensitive to busy or high-stimulation environments, so he would do best in a calm, predictable home. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality really shines through—he bonds deeply and loves companionship. He would thrive with someone who is home often, enjoys a quieter lifestyle, and wants a loyal companion who just wants to be near you. If you’re looking for a devoted snuggler and can offer a patient, stable home, he may be the perfect
