Candy is a 3-year-old female who would love to add some cute quirkiness to your household. This 13ish pound dachshund mix is named for the Dolly Parton song "Hard Candy Christmas." Like Dolly, she's from the Smokies, and like in the song, she's had a rough start to life, but her future is full of possibilities. She loves cheese, celery and playing with a stuffed pig.She doesn't mind the presence of humans and might even welcome you home with sniffs, but petting is overwhelming to her. She enjoys cuddling with doggo friends but not sharing food with them. She also does not tolerate leashing/harnessing. Treat her like a piece of fine art; she needs her own safe space and to be admired but not touched. Because of this, she may not be a good fit for families with young children or those in an apartment.Candy will take a while to warm up in her new fur-ever home, but will reward patient humans willing to give her space with pint-sized zoomies and adorable antics. Maybe even a lick or two, but always on her terms!Candy is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, dewormed, started on monthly flea and heartworm prevention and her adoption fee is $250.  All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. Meet Tucker! Tucker is a 9-year-old Dachshund mix (maybe with some Beagle!) who’s the definition of a chill, loyal companion. He’s about 20 lbs, crate, potty, and leash trained, and great with dogs, cats, and kids.   This cuddly guy just wants to be near his person, snoozing beside you, tagging along on errands, or soaking up attention. He’s confident around bigger dogs but not afraid to give them a grumpy old-man warning if they get too close.   Tucker’s calm, gentle nature makes him an easy dog to take anywhere - no barking, no fuss. He does have a small fatty lump near his belly (non-cancerous) that may be removed during his upcoming dental.   Whoever adopts him is getting a total gem!   He is neutered, dewormed, microchipped, current with all vaccines (as appropriate for his age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. I may take a minute to warm up but once I do, I’m yours forever. You’ll never stop petting me because I feel like cotton and I’ll let you hold me like a baby and melt in your arms. I am a Dachshund Mix I am 4 years young I weigh in at 13 Pounds My gorgeous eyes will draw you in, my hugs and kisses will keep you there. I am what they call a very loyal and loving young Lady. My Manners are impeccable. My Foster Mom can take me anywhere without having to worry about my behavior. I might be a little shy at first, but let me tell you that is an act as I am simply sizing you up! 😊 I lived in a Condo my entire life so I am an expert Leah Potty Walker! I LOVE walks, long walks and then cuddles. Watching birds and the neighbors from a window seat is one of my favorite past times. Do you have a Bay Window? That would be a great start! I am perfect with cats and with other dogs. I do like my food, and I am fed separated from my foster sibling so I won’t steal everyone’s food 😊 I would not be offended by being the only child in the home by the way! That way I get all the love! I am being fostered in Greer, SC but I can pack a suitcase and move.
