Please read ALL of this listing prior to asking questions. If you are interested in Pretzel, and feel that you would be a good match for him, please submit an application as stated towards the end of his listing. After we receive your application we will contact you... thank you! Meet Pretzel... our newest senior Dachshund who is now looking for his forever home since previous guardian passed away. This little guy weighs about 13-lbs.and is about 12-years old. Even though he's a senior, he's still an extremely active boy and loves going for long walks and rides very well in the car. We are looking for a family for him who is active and will take him for walks and on new adventures. He's well behaved, not a barker, and gets along well with people and other dogs, so he is a wonderful companion. Pretzel is housetrained and crate trained, although he'd rather not sleep in his crate. At times he can be stubborn, as are most Dachshunds, but he generally wants to please and is very treat-motivated. Pretzel is neutered, current on his Distemper/Parvo and Rabies vaccines, tested negative for Heartworms, and is microchipped. Pretzel currently needs weekly shampooing to treat his skin issues. The weekly shampooing with a medicated shampoo should be able to keep it under control and keep him comfortable. Fortunately, Pretzel doesn't mind his baths and is very cooperative! Pretzel's adoption fee is $400.00 Pretzel is a loving, active, and smart little boy who deserves only the best home and family! If you feel that Pretzel would be a good match for your family, please submit an application by going to our website foreverhomek9rescue.org for an application and email the completed application to us at foreverhomek9rescue@yahoo.com. You can also submit an application by going to: https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption/ (cut and paste). Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect 'forever' home! Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.

Story
Name: Luna Breed: Dachshund/Labrador Mix Age: 5 years old Background: Luna joined our shelter family in early April after being surrendered due to not getting along with young children. While she may have had a rough start, Luna is ready to turn the page and find a forever home where she can thrive. She's an affectionate companion with a heart full of love to give, but she needs a patient and understanding family who can help her overcome her fears. Personality: Luna is a sweet and gentle soul who longs for a calm and quiet environment where she can feel safe and secure. She may be wary of strangers at first, and her initial reaction might be to growl, but with time and patience, she'll come to trust you completely (especially with treats!) Once she bonds with you, Luna will be your most loyal and devoted friend, showering you with love and affection every day. Ideal Home: Due to her apprehensive nature around people, Luna is not suitable for homes with small children. She thrives on routine and would do best in a calm household where she can feel relaxed and at ease. Luna is house trained and possibly crate trained, and she knows commands like "sit." She takes treats gently and is a quick learner, making her a low-maintenance yet highly rewarding companion. An understanding family who can provide her with the time and space she needs to adjust will be rewarded with a loyal and affectionate companion for life. While she hasn't been tested with other dogs or cats, a meet and greet can be arranged to assess compatibility. Final Thoughts: If you're looking for a sweet low-rider to welcome into your home, Luna might be the perfect match for you. With patience, love, and understanding, she'll blossom into the devoted family member she's meant to be. Come meet Luna today and see if you're the one she's been waiting for!
