Story
Meet Rex! Breed: dachshund/chihuahua mix. Age: est 6 months. Weight: 8lbs currently, we believe he will be approx 15-20ishlbs when full grown. Training: crate and puppy pad trained, working on house and leash training and he is doing well. Good with other dogs/cats? Yes. Good with adults/kids? Yes, though he is reserved with new people and in new situations. Personality: timid/reserved at first. He warms up to be affectionate and playful! Reason for rescue: owner surrender - accidental litter. We will helping have mom spayed. Rex has lived a quiet life so far and while he has warmed up quickly, he will need continued guidance and socialization to be the best boy we know he is. We recommend older children, 10 & up. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. If interested in adding this sweet baby to your family, please message for an adoption application! Adoption fee: $250.January 20, 2026, 11:27 pm

Story
Damion is a three year old, intact male. His mom is half Jack Russel and half Dachshund. His dad is a full mini Dachshund. He was born into a litter of eleven. He is one of four that survived. Those four had to be hand fed. We got him from our good friends. They couldn’t take him back, due to their health reasons. Damion doesn’t do well with younger children under age 13. He is very hyper and needs a lot of exercise. He is vocal when he needs to go outside. He knows what outside means. He is crate trained and house broken. He is only in his crate at night. He loves to cuddle and kisses on his snout. He loves bubbles! He loves to run as fast as he can. He gets whiny when in the car. He is skiddish at first, but once you pet him, he’s your friend. We have a lot on our plate with being full time caregivers of two family members. We are unable to give him the time he needs and unable to financially take care of him.

Story
Jake & Scarlett’s Bio Bonded Pair Meet Jake and Scarlett, two sweet dachshunds who recently lost their beloved mom just a few weeks ago. At 13 years old, Jake is a gentle black and tan gentleman, and at 9 years old, Scarlett is a beautiful red girl with a loving spirit. Together, they’re the very best of friends. Their mom adored them and made sure they were always cared for—up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and they’ll be getting dentals tomorrow so they’re ready for their next chapter. These two are as kind as they come: they get along with everyone, have wonderful temperaments, and are happiest when they’re near people who show them love. Jake and Scarlett miss their mom very much, but they’re ready to find a new forever home where they’ll be cherished just as much as she cherished them. They would love nothing more than to bring warmth, loyalty, and companionship to the family who opens their hearts to them to adopt please fill out an application. 20.00 application fee applies  https://www.chapmansdox.com/adoptOctober 9, 2025, 1:44 pm

Story
Pebbles is the long haired dachshund pictured. 6-7 years old. He was sent to the Charlotte shelter and they couldn’t adopt him to the public because he was resource guarding. Meaning he was being protective over his mom or dad. When he got here he  would snap and growl at us but after about a month he has turned around and is very sweet to me. He wouldn’t be good for kids. He will most likely be good with a female dog. He would have to go home in a crate and given time to approach you and not the other way around. to adopt please fill out an application. 20.00 application fee applies  https://www.chapmansdox.com/adoptJuly 29, 2025, 10:34 am

She is very sweet but shy and will need time to warm up. So, if you do not have the patience to give her that time then she is not the dog for you and you will have to look for another. Dogs come into rescue not because they are perfect and you adopt them because you want to make them whole but some take longer than others, is that you? She really needs to have time to know she is safe and relax and she will give you love but she wants it back too. Do not disappoint her, give her what she needs for the rest of her life. Our must haves for Pip are: • A fenced in yard • Another young, small, and well socialized dog • Someone that can be home most of the time or works from home • Please no apartments, condos or high rises Please if you are interested reach out and we will let you know all about the sweet gentle girl looking for love. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
