He came from East Tennessee when he was surrendered by his family due to their inability to continue to care for him. Jake is shy at first, but warms up once he feels he knows you. He gets along well with the female dog in the foster home, but likes his quiet time. He’s a very low-key guy who likes to relax both inside and out. He’s housebroken as long as he’s kept on a regular schedule. He’s leash-trained but doesn’t care for walks. Therefore, a fenced-in backyard is a must for Jake. If you are looking for a dog that would like to relax alongside you, Jake is the right guy for you! Our must-haves for sweet Jake include: A fenced yard Someone who can be home some with him more often than not No apartments or high-rises ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.

Please read ALL of this listing prior to asking questions. If you are interested in Beaux and feel that you would be a good match for her, you must first fill out an application here (please copy and paste the link): https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ After we receive your application we will contact you... thank you! Beaux is a beautiful chocolate and tan, 9-year-old Dachshund who is ready for her forever home. She came to us paralyzed, but quickly regained use of her legs, and can now run and play to her heart's content! This little Doxie has some trouble being still. Even when she’s really tired, she still wants to keep going. And she absolutely LOVES to ride -- in a car, a boat, wheelbarrow, or backpack. As long as she isn't left in the house, she’s a happy little camper! Although Beaux does very well with the other dogs in her foster family, she is capable of entertaining herself and probably would do well without another canine companion, as long as she has human companionship. Beaux also LOVES children! Like most Dachshunds, she is highly intelligent... and a bit more mischievous than your average pup. Because of Beaux’s high energy level, she tries to go up and down stairs, hop off the furniture, etc. -- things that Dachshund's really aren't supposed to do. She would do best in a home with a fenced yard, so she can run and explore safely. Her foster home has a fenced yard with a doggie door. Her foster parents have not taught her to walk on a leash, which is one thing we're hoping her new family will be able and willing to do for her. Beaux is housetrained, but her back injury affected her bladder-control and at times she may dribble when she walks toward the door. She wears a doggie diaper most of the time in her foster home. Like most Dachshund's, Beaux has a great appetite! She enjoys carrots and other veggies… and she loves watermelon. She has a few favorite chew toys -- one of which is a golf ball! Beaux is healthy and isn't currently on any special medications other than a supplement for joint support. She is current on her Distemper/Parvo and Rabies vaccine and is spayed, microchipped, Heartworm tested, and had her teeth cleaned. She tested negative for Heartworms, and is on Heartguard for Heartworm prevention. Beaux's adoption fee is $400.00. We accept checks or cash for adoption fees... sorry, we do not take cards. Beaux is a loving, active, and smart little girl who deserves only the best home and family! If you feel that Beaux would be a good match for your family, please submit an application by going to our website foreverhomek9rescue.org for an application and email the completed application to us at foreverhomek9rescue@yahoo.com. You can also submit an application by going to: https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ (cut and paste). Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect 'forever' home! Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.

Story
This adorable Wire-haired Dachshund is 5 years old and has the cutest whiskers and eyebrows ever going.  He is a calm and easy going 24 pounds boy that could stand to go on a reasonable diet and lots of daily walks during the week to slim down to a great weight for his long Dachshund body.  This boy is named Grins and he just lost his home because his senior mom entered a nursing home on Wednesday 5/27.  All that he needs in life right now is a new family/owner who will love getting up every morning to see his sweet happy face and to take him several times a day on a good walking/exercise program to trim down his extra pounds and get him to a good 20 pound body weight.  Less pounds means more good life for a Dachshund and Grins is at his prime time to change his food intake to higher quality.  He really needs to get out and see the world from the end of a leash!   His former mom has been bedridden for over 3 years and he has not been taken on walks in all the time. Now Critter Cavalry Rescue is taking him in to their foster program.  Grins might do best as the only dog in his new home.  He has a tendency to be bossy with other dogs sometimes.  It could be managed if he has a strong owner who knows how to be the boss in the house and not let Grins run the show.  He is in a foster now that has cats and he does great with them!.He is housebroken and knows what a pee pad is just in case you need that extra time away.  He is crate trained and does so well on a leash too!   Snickers is resilient, happy to go wherever  you take him and is adjusting to all the new sights, sounds and people in his life.  We would love a Dachshund lover who is experienced with the breed to give Grins a soft bed and a big heart filled with love as his next forever place.  If you are interested, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com    When inquiring please tell us where you live!!!        PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 6, 2026, 8:34 pm

Story
Meet Stella Rico Estimated Birthday: 12/4/2020 Weight: 47 lbs of pure love Breed: Mixed Breed Queen Adoption Fee: $365 If you’ve been waiting for a sign to adopt a dog… this is it. Her name is Stella Rico, and she is ready to be someone’s whole heart. Stella Rico Rico is a beautiful 5-year-old mixed breed with the kind of soulful eyes that make you feel like she’s been listening to your problems all day — and honestly, she probably has. She’s the perfect medium size at 47 pounds: big enough for real hugs, small enough to fit perfectly beside you on the couch. Let’s talk personality. Stella Rico is calm and composed indoors — a true lady. She walks beautifully on leash (no sled-dog reenactments here), enjoys long strolls through the neighborhood, and is happiest just hanging out with her people. But don’t let her dignified demeanor fool you — she has her playful side too. Toss a ball and she’s ready for fetch. Offer a tug toy and she’s in. And every now and then? Backyard zoomies. The deluxe edition. Fun Fact: Stella Rico watches TV. Intently. She has strong opinions about dogs and cats on screen and isn’t afraid to voice them. Honestly, we love a girl who stays informed. Home Life House trained ✔️ Well-behaved when left alone ✔️ Doesn’t require a crate ✔️ A 4-foot fence is great if you have one, but she doesn’t require a fenced yard Lived in a home with a one-year-old child She’s comfortable around both men and women and truly just wants to be near her people. She’s affectionate without being clingy — the perfect balance. Important to Know: Stella Rico has a strong interest in squirrels (who among us doesn’t?) and she barks at cats, so a cat-free home would likely be best. We haven’t seen how she interacts with other dogs yet. Health Note — Addison’s Disease Stella Rico has Addison’s Disease, which simply means she takes a daily prednisone pill and receives a monthly injection to keep her feeling her best. And she does feel her best — happy, active, and thriving. She doesn’t let it slow her down one bit. Think of it as a small monthly maintenance plan for a very premium dog. Her Backstory Stella Rico is a returned adoption — through absolutely no fault of her own. Sometimes life changes, but what hasn’t changed is Stella Rico’s sweet, steady heart. She deserves the forever she’s been waiting for. Stella Rico is smart, gentle, playful, and deeply loyal. She’s the kind of dog who will quietly sit beside you after a long day, rest her head on your leg, and remind you that you are her whole world. If you’re looking for a best friend who walks beautifully on leash, plays a mean game of tug, supervises wildlife from the window, and binge-watches TV with you… Stella Rico is your girl. She’s not just adoptable. She’s unforgettable. Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee is $365 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!

Story
Rosie came to us from a rural county shelter. She was surrendered to them after being found in a Walmart parking lot. She is approximately 1 year old, already spayed, dachshund mix. Rosie weighs about 24 lbs and is up to date on all vaccines. Rosie's ideal household would be one with lots of love and attention. Rosie loves to use her nose to sniff around outside and is housebroken. She is content cuddling next to you on the couch or going for an afternoon stroll. Rosie's current foster reports that she is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to relieve herself. The foster home that Rosie is currently in has both dogs and cats. Rosie can be timid when meeting new people and new animals. She warms up quickly with pets and treats.
