Story
HI! I’m Lexi.  We haven’t been properly introduced yet, so let me tell you a little about myself. I’m a small little lady, weighing in at about 21 lbs.  (My doctor says I need to lose 5 lbs., but who doesn’t, right??)  I really prefer to be inside and I’m normally calm when inside the house.  I don’t bother anything or chew on anything except my chew bones (which I love).  When I am outside, I may go to the fence and say hi (bark) at the neighbor dog, but usually I just lay on the dog bed that’s out there. I’m pretty much potty-trained.  I haven’t learned yet to let my foster mom know when I need outside, but she lets me out on a regular basis to take care of my potty business. I get along well with my foster-siblings.  I go to day care with them and get along with the dogs there, too.  I don’t know if I like cats or not...there aren’t any at my foster mom’s house.  Even though I like my foster siblings, I’d be just as happy being an only pet, too. I do fine with older kids, too.  But the little ones?  They can be noisy and grab at me and that makes me nervous and scared.    I need to explain something to you.  I may growl and bark at you initially.  Not because I’m mean or vicious, heaven forbid!! But because I’m scared.  You see, before I came to my foster mom’s house, I lived with some very mean people who hurt me badly.  I have some bad memories of that time, so now I’m wary of new people and places until I’m sure I’m safe and won’t be hurt again.   My foster mom is helping me learn that not all people are going to hurt me, and helping me make good memories to replace those bad ones.   It’s an on-going process and takes some patience, but I’m getting better at trusting people. Once I feel safe and comfortable, though, I love cuddles and pets.  I’ll sit in your lap, sleep right next to you, and be your constant companion.   I like car rides, taking walks with you (I do pretty good on a leash), and just hanging out wherever you are. Well, that’s pretty much who I am.  It’s your turn now.  Put in an application and tell me about yourself.
