WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Meet January – Tiny Package, Giant Heart ❄️🐾 2 years old • 8 lbs • Dachshund/Min Pin mix Don’t let her petite size fool you — January may weigh in at just 8 pounds, but she’s carrying around enough love to fill a whole house. This little black-and-tan sweetheart is gentle, soft-natured, and delightfully dainty. When she first meets new people, January can be a touch shy… but give her about 30 seconds and a kind word, and suddenly she’s your loyal best friend forever. Think of her as a slow-blooming flower with a very enthusiastic tail. Once she feels comfortable, January is all about quiet cuddles, cozy naps, and sticking close to her favorite humans like the world’s cutest little shadow. She’s not loud, she’s not demanding, and she definitely doesn’t need to be the center of attention — she’s just happy to be included. January’s Resume (and it’s impressive): • Great with other dogs • Friendly with cats • Wonderful with kids and adults • House trained and dog-door savvy • Up to date on vaccines • Professional couch companion Around the house, January is an easygoing, low-maintenance kind of gal. She’s got the whole “house manners” thing down and fits beautifully into a routine. Basically, she’s the roommate we all wish we had — tidy, polite, and never eats the last slice of pizza. Her idea of a perfect day? A little sunshine, a few gentle head scratches, maybe a short stroll, and a soft spot next to you on the couch. She’s not looking for wild adventures — she’s looking for a forever person to adore. If you’re hoping for a sweet, loving little companion who will quietly steal your heart (and maybe your favorite blanket), January just might be your perfect match. Apply today at haydudeequine.org and let this tiny treasure warm up your world! 💛🐾

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Does your property need a guardian from potential little critter trespassers?  Guthrie appears to have taken an oath to protect his home from all squirrels, both foreign (the black ones) and domestic!   He will bark an enthusiastic warning if they are anywhere around - they will not invade as long as he is on the job!   Little Guthrie was caught on the streets of Youngstown by some good Samaritans and taken to the pound. An obvious case of severe neglect, he was so deeply matted that he had to be anesthetized so he could be shaved down.  His teeth were rotten and after a much needed dental, he was able to keep five of them.  No worries, though.  He eats kibble JUST fine, thank you very much! The main foible we have encountered with him is that we suspect he was owned by someone who was unable to take care of him and take him outside regularly to potty.  It appears that he was made to wear a belly band all the time, so he will thoroughly wet one if left on him for more than an hour or so.  He simply thinks that’s what he’s supposed to do.  He also has a tendency to mark his territory, though that has decreased the longer he has been in his foster home.  Though he gets along well with the other dogs there, a forever home without other canines might eliminate that behavior.     We are working on these issues, as we know it’s a hindrance to his finding the forever home he deserves.  We tried crating him when he first got here, but he would rub his nose raw against the metal bars trying to get out.   We have recently begun getting him used to a soft-sided crate.  If he can acclimate to being in there when his foster mom is away, it could be just the solution he needs. He’s never once had the other kind of accident in the house, btw - just the wetting kind. Other than that, Guthrie’s a sweet guy with just the right mix of spunkiness and taking long naps on the couch next to his human.   In fact, the only things he needs to make him perfectly happy are a comfy couch to doze on, a person to cuddle next to, and good eats!   As mentioned, he gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home, but would be very content to have his humans all to himself.  And besides all that, he’s just so gosh darned cute! Does this little guy sound like someone you could open your heart and home to?  You can easily fill out an adoption application by clicking here:     adoption application.   For anyone viewing this on Petfinder, if you are interested in adopting this animal you will need to go to our website www.rosesrescue.net to fill out the online adoption application.
