Story
DOD 2-24-2022 Rufus is a gorgeous Dachshund, he is very loving and gets along well with other dogs in his play group. He is complete on all medical, neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and is on the Proheart 6 injection for heartworm preventative.Rufus is very affectionate and needs someone that wants their dog close, he thrives on attention. Rufus grew up in a breeding facility, he was purchased as a puppy to be a breeding adult. Rufus got to big to breed so he had to go. Rufus is crate trained and loves to go for walks. Rufus is shy until he gets to know you and if he gets scared he will have submissive urination. He no longer has that issue here but we can't say it won't happen again when he moves. In the situation here with us it took him about 2 weeks to get past it, His adoption fee is 850.00, transport fee is 165.00 and our transport is HEARTS. They leave every other Friday and deliver to their east coast stops on Saturday. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Where are our little dog lovers at!? And SENIOR DOG lovers!? 🐕 Snickers is a 13 years young pup that is a spry, happy, lovable lap warmer! She is adorable with large staring dark round eyes and very long legs. She is smart as a whip and playful for an old girl. She was caught with Skipper December 2022; with them being in advanced age, they had to be someone’s babies, especially to be in relatively good shape mentally as well as physically. They are great buddies, constantly playing. So, it would be advantageous if they could be adopted together. But, it isn’t required! A nice sized fenced yard would be great, also. If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!

Medical Note:  This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease.  Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future.  Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete.  Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home.  This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment and is expected to complete treatment with no complications.  Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for and current status of this dog.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see      HERE      for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:    www.sosarl.org/aa/ *  *Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor. May 19, 2024, 9:36 am

Story
This handsome pup is Biff! He’s an adult low rider that lives to hang with his people! Biff is a designer mix breed pup. We think there’s a splash of Dachshund, a pinch of Hound, dash of Lab, a touch of Pittie, and a sprinkling of Mr Nice Pup.  Biff is excited for life and happy to be here. He’s a true joy to be around.  Biff knows his manners and would appreciate a confident owner willing to continue to help guide him. When first meeting people, Biff can be a little nervous but after a proper introduction, he makes fast friends. He’d love to hang out at breweries, go on hikes, or just enjoys leisurely stroll with his new family. Biff has spent some time with a professional trainer and did very well there! He learned the basics and his trainer will be happy to review everything Biff learned with his new family.
Biff would be a great addition to a home that already has a calm and confident dog.  He’s great with kids and currently had 2 legged family members that are between the ages of 8 & 21. If you'd like to make this handsome pup part of your family, please let us know here: dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form. We'll forward the app to his foster who will reach out to answer any questions, share pictures, and talk all things Biff. ================================================= If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
