FENCED YARD REQUIRED Adoption Donation   $ 399   Located:  RI (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details ) Age: 10 mos. old      Meet Leo!   Leo is a 10-month-old Dachshund/Hound mix with the cutest little face and the biggest personality! This silly boy is full of energy, curiosity, and love — basically a furry toddler who keeps life exciting.  Leo would   love   a fenced-in yard where he can zoom around and explore, and he’d be thrilled to have another playful dog (or a few!) to wrestle and romp with. He’s all about fun, cuddles, and a little bit of mischief — you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on your shoes, because this charming “devil child” likes to test his limits in the most adorable way.  No condo or apartment living for this boy as he is very vocal.  Leo is working with a trainer on stranger danger. He becomes vocal and will retreat.  The trainer feels he is best suited for an older, energetic retired or work from home couple.     With his goofy grin and happy heart, Leo will bring laughter and love to any family lucky enough to call him theirs.     *** As part of the adoption donation this pup will participate in FOA's spay/neuter program or other programs available through FOHA. All puppies will have age appropriate vaccinations.  All small Pups need to be adopted by by children old enough to understand how to be respectful and gentle in handling a small young pup. ***     If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website   www.fohari.org and email my foster parent for more information: save4pawz@gmail.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.       Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. Meet Pippi and her brother Palomino, delightful Dachshund mix puppies with a heart full of joy. Their days are filled with playful antics and tender moments, making everyone around them smile. Pippi loves playing with toys and has a special affection for children, often cuddling up for a nap after a fun play session. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application  HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: approx. 2 years old (as of 1/22/26) Weight: approx. 35 pounds (as of 1/22/26) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.   Meet the radiant Luna Moon! She is the proud mom of the “moon” litter and is looking for a fresh start and place to call home. Although we think she has some Dachshund and Basset in her, we are sure this pretty girl has some other breeds in the mix. Luna is a 100% certified goofy goober. She is hyper and super playful, described as always having her happy button “on!” She loves to run and play, loves people and other dogs. She is very interested in cats and small animals but may try to chase them. Luna’s rescue story started when she was found after being dumped by the side of a lake. She was so emaciated that no one knew she was pregnant until the "moon" puppies arrived just days later! We believe this brave and resilient girl was holding out hope for a safe place to birth her babies. Not only is Luna a total love bug, she does well in the crate and is really well mannered overall. Her areas for growth are learning boundaries for affection with humans and a little less pulling on leash walks. She will soon be fully house trained and is making excellent progress. She hopes her fur-ever family will be patient and willing to work on skill building together! Are you willing to welcome this sweet soul into your heart and home? Fill out an application and let her know you’d love to meet her!   Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for heartworm disease. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete. Once treatment is completed and the dog tests negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and will be ready to travel north and be placed into an adoptive home. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment, and is expected to complete treatment with no complications. Please ask your Adoption Counselor for the specific treatment protocol used for and current status of this dog. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history.   An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. Story
(Bonded with her brother, Mac) Hi there! I’m Cheese, a four month old dachshund with the sweetest soul. I am blind, but once I learn my surroundings, I move with confidence. I rely on scent, memory, and especially my brother Mac. He is my safe place, my playmate, and my steady presence. I may not see you, but I will absolutely know you. I adore cuddling, feeling close, and curling up next to my people and my brother. Routine helps me feel secure, and I blossom in a calm, loving environment. Mac and I are a bonded pair and need to stay together. We have grown up navigating the world side by side, and separating us would be incredibly hard on both of us. We truly complete each other. We are looking for a home that understands that special needs doesn’t mean limited joy. It means deeper connection, patience, and a whole lot of love. And we promise to give that love right back. If your home has room for two tiny best friends who will adore you endlessly, we’re ready. With cuddles and tail wags, Cheese If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
Copper is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!    Copper is a under 1 year old pup weighing about 15 lbs and expected to stay on the smaller side. Don’t let his size fool you—this little guy is full of personality and classic puppy energy! Bed do well as an only dog too. Copper loves to play with other dogs and would be thrilled to have a canine buddy to romp around with. He’s a sweet, affectionate boy who enjoys being around people just as much as he loves playtime. Copper is doing great with crate training and settles in nicely. Like many puppies his age, he’s still working on potty training and has had a few accidents, but he’s learning more every day. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
(Bonded with his sister, Cheese) Hi! I’m Mac, a four month old dachshund with a brave heart and a playful spirit. I am deaf, but I don’t let that slow me down one bit. I’m incredibly observant and very tuned in to visual cues and touch. I learn quickly, I watch everything, and I love being engaged with my people. I may not hear you call my name, but I will absolutely feel your presence and your love. I’m curious, affectionate, and happiest when I’m exploring the world with my sister, Cheese, right by my side. She is my comfort and my constant. We have grown up learning the world together, and we truly balance one another. Cheese and I are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. We rely on each other for confidence and reassurance. Together, we are a perfect little team. We’re looking for a patient, loving home that understands that special needs simply means we experience the world a little differently. With consistency, routine, and lots of cuddles, we will thrive. If you’re ready for twice the love and twice the snuggles, I can’t wait to meet you.
